Announcement from the GRA concerning Hilo and ReelDeal games

I found this post from Betfred

Hi all,

The investigation into the complaint raised here in regard to the Reel Deal game has started yielding results, and as promised before they will be disclosed in this thread. The below is confirmed by Finsoft – the supplier through which Betfred receive Realistic Games products.

Analysis has revealed that Reel Deal was indeed returning at 96%, despite being advertised at 100%. Finsoft’s review revealed that this was the result of an administrative error on the game’s deployment to Betfred, where the wrong help file was attached to the game.

While mistakes do happen, Betfred realise this is not acceptable. Neither Finsoft or Betfred would purposely mislead players, and will therefore actively compensate players on losses derived from the game over the last 6 months. The amounts should be in accounts by next Tuesday. Claims beyond 6 months will be accepted and honoured, too, but must be submitted individually.

The remaining items brought up in this thread are still under investigation by our suppliers; they are:

1. The suggestion that the game in question’s RTP is adaptive
2. The suggestion that the game performs differently in fun and real modes

It’s been suggested here that the parties involved have blocked Eliot’s investigation. This is simply not true. However, it is possible that some people contacted directly were away over the Holiday period or were not in a position to comment on confidential information to none permitted individuals. Let me assure you that all concerned take this matter very seriously, and I hope this was conveyed in the game being removed and in the compensation now offered.

If you have a claim for losses on Reel Deal then please email support@betfredgames.com and we’ll process the amounts in cash and in full to your Betfred accounts ASAP.

Kind regards,
Aaron

I have received the PM from Bryan and will sign the petition but despite the fact the GRA have said operators dont need to compensate players, can Aaron confirm that after acknowledging the whole episode was not acceptable that they will now compensate players?

The least we can do is to sign the petition.

So far 48 has signed and that is very low.

Also it would be good if other casino forums knew about this.

I also signed the petition. I hate the arrogance of the GRA. They claim the losses were significant and that the case is closed and that everyone should learn from it and move on. What do the players learn from this other than its a big rip-off.

Wow they really should not be able to get away with this.

If they do what is to stop worse situations arising in the future.

I guess they want to test the waters/boundaries.

I am simply outraged by this :eek2:

Signed......

ok... let's say I'm from the USA.... is this 'nice' man going to report me to USA authorities when I sign the petition? Hmmm? Oh, no... the gambling police won't be knocking on my door, but IRS audits and such can make life a living hell whether one has done anything wrong or not...

And I must say.... this...

look forward to seeing who actually signs the petition and comes out from behind their
shield(s) of anonymity...

does not sound like an impartial regulatory official.

(Sorry for the amendment Chuchu, but I think this is what you wanted to post...)

Well, I had decided to refrain from posting in this thread, but since CM sent us a PM with his thoughts...

Just to say that CM was quite accurate with his opinion and I also hope that we, players, can demonstrate how attentive and jointly liable we might be when it comes to the defence of our rights.

In regards to my post #71, I have already updated CM and explained him the situation (what I've done and what I probably won't, but would like to...)... will see.

This is worrying to me, as a webmaster with a company incorporated in the UK ( England and Wales ) which runs several gambling portals. Does this mean I will not be able to advertise casinos which do not come under the UKGC's umbrella?

Or by continuing to do so, my company and myself in turn will be committing an offence?

Another question, in that what about sites which are owned by non UK residents but are hosted in the UK?

Also as a footnote, currently most of the programs we work with are outside the EU with regards to VAT. Hence if operators had to move to the UK, payments for affiliates would be then made within the EU, thus making many affiliates who reside in Europe having to become registered for VAT or the sales tax equivalent, who currently do not have to ( as payments made within the EU currently do not push their earnings over the VAT/Sales Tax threshold over a rolling 12 monthly period ).

I am no expert on targeting web adverts to consumers or the implications for your site but my working assumption is that your site would need to target UK consumers with UK legal adverts only. You could of course advertise other sites to non UK residents.

Sites based overseas or in the UK, owned in the UK or owned from overseas will face the same issue - advertising an illegal site to a UK consumer will be an offence. Now clearly if they live and work in say Tajikistan they are less likely to worry over this and less likely to face legal action but the law is the same for all.

Operators do not have to move to the UK, they may choose to but they don't need to so I guess the VAT question is a case by case one as now.

I have signed! I don't have anything to hide and I want this industri to be honest and fair.
I just wish I could meet this person once and teach him some manner and respect.

I've signed the petition.

There are enough problems in the industry without the supposed good guys turning out to be bad too.

Very much looking forward to the next communication from Mr Brear but I'm not holding my breath that it will be forthcoming.

I have signed too. Completely unprofessional, I cant believe how little regard they have for players. They simply cant just side with the casino's, especially when they are absolutely in the wrong.

does not sound like an impartial regulatory official.

I'm from the USA and I signed.

I have no fear of the IRS or anyone else for that matter, I have broken no laws. Just like in B&M casinos if I ever win more that $700 on a single hand, spin, number or toss of the dice I will duly report it and pay my taxes due on it as per our laws.

As for the GRA, it's easy to regulate when there are no problems and no action is required. They are not there for the best of times but for the worst of times and they must represent all sides fairly and by the book or else they are worthless.

It's easy to be a fireman when there are no fires but when there is a fire you can't just blame and badmouth the person who started it and let the flames continue to burn.

Obviously not acceptable, not sure what else to say that hasn't been said. Unfortunately, I won't sign the petition as nobody out in the casino world outside of the casino is going to get my info, if I can help it. I don't like threats and certainly don't need drama.

Sorry.

I just don't believe they would hurt individual players for signing the petition. What are they, the mob?

I signed the petition - irrespective of their rather bumbling attempt at scare-off anyone who would dare to sign.

If the Licencing Authority does nothing to re-imburse all customers who suffered loss through either "bugs" / deliberate misrepresentation / "rogue" behaviour, etc, Then the Licencing Authority is not doing it's job.
Licences come with the duty on both the Authority & the Licencee to operate within stringent policies and the Authority CANNOT make an arbitrary assessment to decline to act, when it judges that some losses aren't sufficient to enforce restitution.

The GRA have done nothing to engender trust in the Gaming Industry.

I support the petition, however I will not be signing.

I have received too many violent threats, some from my own countrymen, over the years here and other places, and my family and their safety comes before all. The threats may never be carried out, but I'm not willing to wager anyone's personal safety on it.
