and yet more Skrill changes

My last few withdrawals from skrill were much faster than in the past too. Twice in the distant past they lost a withdrawal, once I waited for a month before they found it, the other time about 14 days. The last two times I withdrew it took less than 2 days. To be honest I didn't notice if the fees were more or not though.

@chay...if you dont mind answering, what Cd bank are you using, because it's still taking a week for WDs from skrill to my bank. I put one though Monday, still hasn't hit today, which means I'll still be looking at next week
Thanks

I use Bank of Montreal and as soon skrill posted it was processed it would be in my account exactly one hour later. The last two months something has changed. I was waiting for a withdrawal for 2 weeks and they sent me notice it was returned to my skrill account. They sent me notice that the problem has been fixed, but I doubt it.

I had changed banks because Scotia Bank told me a year ago already that if funds were from gambling they would return them to the source.

How come the banks are allowed to do this without specific laws or regulations being in place. Their job is surely to look after customers' money, not pass moral judgements on how they spend it.

In any case, they cannot know for certain that funds from Skrill are gambling related, it can be nothing more than "highly probable" that they are.

I can't see UK banks getting away with such BS, the Financial Ombudsman can intervene, and HAS intervened when banks have summarily closed accounts as a means to bully customers into not fighting for their rights. Several banks got into trouble for making threats to close accounts of customers who took complaints to the FSA over excessive charges and/or mis selling. Some pretty hefty fines have been levied on some banks to remind them of the need to behave fairly. They are also under fire for misusing the KYC procedures as a means to ditch low value customers, such as the elderly and those on benefits, and keep them from mainstream banking altogether.

I can't see how a lack of specific prohibitions in Canada allows the banks to get away with this. If anything, I would have expected Skrill to be the first to pull out of Canada if they feared they were breaking the law.

It's not up to the US to make laws for other countries, so the use of the US Dollar as an excuse doesn't wash. It's a freely traded "world" currency, used in many other countries besides the US, and held in considerable quantities as investments by both large funds and individuals as an investment.

bmo and instadebit

Seems everybody now has fees...
Direct deposit from my bank account to say 32red,guts 365 costs 1$,if there was money
in my instadebit account already...free.
Withdrawal from Guts, say 550 costs on their end 3.48 into instadebit, but even with their
lightning speed(it's the banks you know)best was 18hour,same for 32red,they have no charge,
but same speed during the week, weekends everybody here knows that story.
Back to my own checking account instadebit charges 2$...and they say 2-5 days, but during
the week its like less than 24hours...
I have skrill but I guess I prefer not to use it.

What made me sick today was withdraw 4160kr > skrill > bank > got 3890kr thats 270kr in looses just cause of currency conversion that just insane, guess i gotta skip skrill for larger 1k+ withdraws and go straight bank transfers its just slow :(

It seems that instead of giving top VIPs free currency conversion, they have just upped the fees for everyone else.
The best you can hope for is a 1.75% exchange fee at the Diamond level.

If you don't hold a Skrill account in on of the big currencies (USD, GBP, EUR, CAD or PLN) you are looking at a 3.99% fee.
Plain greedy IMO, considering they also charge a big percentage from the merchant sending you funds.

It does give the multi currency casinos a big advantage though.
You can get away with paying very few fees, as long as you keep your casino, skrill and bank account, in the same currencies.

The money conversions fees that Moneybookers lists on their website are from their "wholesale rate" and this is another 0.5 percent away from the real(mid price) rate, so you have to at at least half a percent on top of that. I very rarely use wire cashouts and always get the withdrawal fee refunded as a Silver VIP, I mostly withdraw by Card which is totally free for me/i have no other creditcards, only (Net-card(Neteller), Moneybookers-Card and Skrill-Card). I have also found ways to avoid currency converion fees completely (or at least almost completely), you have to be a little bit creative, but it´s possible, you can have different wallets in different currencies and there are certain places that convert money for free or for very little, at least if you are a good customer or don´t do it too often.

"In any case, they cannot know for certain that funds from Skrill are gambling related, it can be nothing more than "highly probable" that they are."

This is completely right, it just can be debt repayment, borrowed money from friends, all kind of business income, or just many that you "parked" there because you sould need have to spend it with your debit card, or which you need to withdraw sometimes in places where you cannot use my bank card(if I want to withdraw money I have to either travel to the next branch of my bank(which is war away and it has to be at business hours), or upload it to Neteller account for free and instantly and then I can withdraw it via Moneybookers-Mastercard for free at every ATM nearby, and the are weveral just 1 or 2 minutes walk away). Also it could be that you do not trust banks, because of the banking crisis and think(what is definetly true), that Moneybookers/Skrill are more stable than most banks in a big financial crises, because they do not give out huge amounts of risky loans.

By the way the interest rates are about zero and you money is ensured against abuse(certain conditions apply). Once my Moneybookers-Mastercard(less then a year ago) got abused and I got all my money back within a few days, without having any big trouble. When my debit card was abused and all my bank accounts(even all foreign money and saving accounts were connected with the card and my spending limits were huge) were emptied, I took me many month, to get only 10000 back, more was not insured. I had absoluely huge problems because of this. I keep my money more savely at many different internet accounts now and never use a debit card that is card that is connected to an account with a huge amount of money on it or chose quite low spending limits.
