Ok this may seem a bit trivial and it’s probably more of an annoyance than anything. Why when we are sent an email saying we have received free spins is the value VERY RARELY MENTIONED and secondly 90% of the time they are strictly not free as they are only granted upon a deposit. I mean very often the value is at 10 or 20p for a minimum deposit of £10. It is strictly just a 10 or 20% deposit bonus in effect, which is I would imagine fairly unattractive to 99% of players. The only other reason for this is so players login just in case it’s their lucky day and the spins are actually worth having. Only to find this is not the case but I am here now I may aswell deposit anyway but with all the responsible gambling stuff going on and t and c’s having to be clear I am sure I must be looking a little to deeply in seeing this as unethical. Again I am starting to sound a bit pro VS but the spins they send me and 2 weekly boosters are free and also wager free.

I'm not sure what the question is, as youve seemed to answer it yourself: to get players to login
Probably about the only casino answer you'd get would be along the lines of 'to reward our loyal players'

I also don't like misleading emails. If it's free, it should be free, cut and dry: GUTS and VS for example. Hey, here's free spins. Login. They are FREE.

If they require a deposit, have that info in the mailer.

That’s what I was implying. The reason is as we both stated but as no rep is going to come on here and give that answer I thought it best to omit it for them. I just wanted to see if any of them could give me one valid reason.

Completely agree. Posted elsewhere that this is one of my top pet peeves in marketing emails.

Free Spins require me to pay nothing.

Deposit Spins require me to make a deposit.

Pretty simple way to tell them apart.. asking me to give you money? Not Free...

ok next...

;-P

A new way to get around bonuses, grab player's attention with wording, make them click link and log on, once there they think 'Oh well, it's better than nothing' and get crummy indirect bonus of 20% with added wagering!

No rep's gonna speak up about how deceptive and shite it is, surely

The sneakiest one's I get. Are from CasinoLuck, WildSlots and NextCasino.
who use the header...

You Have a New Friends Request

Which just turns out to be yet another deposit offer.

I can still remember when those casinos were decent and respectable

Such a shame when they sold out to Aspire, regular offers with fair deposit matches and the odd NDB, not to mention a cracking rep!

Were 3 of my regularly visited sites back in the day.

'Free' is a word UK players especially will not be seeing for much longer when it comes to online casinos :(

Make the most of it, no matter how shit or poorly worded the mailer is :p
I was about to mention that too - 'extra' spins or 'bonus' spins should be used for UK players; free spins are like Betbright's changed bonus, which will have no wagering, or BGO's similar deal. ND spins aren't really 'free' either if you need a deposit in order to withdraw.

Talking about Wildslots and misleading email headers. Here's one from last monday....

It's not for the game you might automatically think of.
It's for deposit 'free' spins on some crappy game called 'Reel Bandits'
Is it just coincidence that they used the words Dead or Alive??

^^ Still a good offer ^^ its equivalent to 100% match, just in the value of the spins rather that a 10 euro bonus :D

Those "Free Spins" which you sometimes find in your email is a free gift from a casino (usually not wager free) which is designed to keep a player in their casino.
