There is little in life that can prepare us for the loss of a parent. Along with it comes all the other questions -- of identity, mortality, purpose, and a host of others. Grieving often takes much longer and is much harder than you realize until you've gone through it.

It says a lot about this community that there is such an outpouring of support for Bryan and I am adding my voice to this chorus of support. Bryan, take your time, give yourself what you need, everything else is on hold until you are ready to take it back into your life. In the mean time, thank you for who you are and what you do.

Bryan, on behalf of GoneGambling, I would like to add our condolences to those of so many others. On a personal note, both John and I lost our mothers to cancer ,so it is with deep understanding and sympathy we send our sincere regrets after learning of your loss.

Cancer is a horrible beast.. it stole my grandmother from us a mere week and 3 days after diagnosis.

While I've not been a member here long, I have known about the site for a couple of years and always had the greatest admiration, gratitude and respect for what Casinomeister does. An extended break during this most difficult time is certainly in order and I'm sure his work in the meantime will be carried out by other capable hands while Bryan and his family mourn their lost loved one.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. Please try to take comfort from the fact that this is the natural progression of life, and that to be happy or to laugh is no disrespect to your mother, but that your happiness was one of her goals in life.
