So I have put some thought into this... as it gets closer to 2014 I have come up with some hopefully doable resolutions.

First and foremost, continue on my so far successful weight loss program. Last year I made a resolution to stop drinking soda and loose 20 pounds. Check

So this year I'm going to try for 40 pounds and stop eating fast food and so much fried food

Second... Rein in my online gambling budget... let's be honest here folks. The remaining US operators have really tightened the grips on how much free money and withdrawal methods there offering. So really I'm really going to try once again to see more land based casino play and less online. Yet we'll see how well that goes after a few loosing streaks again land based.

The third and not least
I'm going to propose to my friend who I have been dating for 5 years, and hopefully get married sometime in the next 2 years. Yet I have to get up the guts to propose.

Am just curious on your guy's resolutions :)

Best of luck to you!

Only one for me this year, I am going to start regimented walking for health. I'll start with 5 miles, every other day. That'll be 5 laps around our shopping mall upstairs and downstairs and i'll be with the rest of the old people, lol.

All doable mate especially the final one. Good Luck and inform us once your proposal succeeds.

No resolutions here - don't see the point of putting something off to a future date if it's a change you truly intend to make - you just do it today

It's all about the ritual. Usually, New Years resolutions are meant to signify a change in the way you do things so, you take a couple of days to mentally prepare and then you begin with determination.

Well, my 2013 resolution was one that I finally managed to keep, so I'll do the same one for 2014 : I will also not get married in 2014  I hope my wife appreciates that ;)

Ha! That means nothing so far as your wife is concerned. You could be having half a dozen affairs - with different casinos .

I have so many things i'd like to change I don't know where to start!

When I gamble I find I need to have cigarettes, especially when triggering free spins. When I smoke I like to have a few beers as smoking is disgusting and alcohol helps kills the taste. When I drink I eat unhealthy as carrots do not go well with drink. When I eat unhealthy I dont exercise as I lack the energy. When I dont exercise I become really lazy and unproductive.

It's like a chain reaction and gambling is at the top. I have never stuck to resolutions, but convincing myself that I will allows me to live in the present guilt free until 2014.

I promised myself and others to stay alive this year and to do the best of it.
I really tried but it wasn't a total success. But if nothing happens tomorrow I'm at least alive when the next year come :)

I should really try to figure something out for next year also.
Or not...

This is one I make every year and I always fall off the wagon several times. But this year I'm sticking to it - NO REVERSING WITHDRAWALS!

Now I have to work on winning enough to get a withdrawal...

I asked my 10 year old nephew what his New Years Resolution is and he said "To have more FUN!!"

I laughed out loud.

I've never ever thought of making having more fun a New Years Resolution so I'm totally plagiarizing my 10 year old nephew and saying for 2014 I hope to have a lot more FUN!!!:D

A few:

1) Read one book per week.
2) Increase fitness.
3) Take a long hike in the mountains.
4) Stick to your budget.
5) Have more of a social life.
6) Do not reverse any withdrawals, lol.

Happy New Years to you too Chu! Hope 2014 brings you the best health, wealth and happiness!

All the best,
Lori

PS-I don't make resolutions, If I want to change something I do it, like my hair, use to have really long hair, now it is really short! Just cut it all off today! Donated it to locks of love, all 19 inches of it. But for those who do make resolutions, good luck and hope you stick to them!

Happy New Year everyone!

I don't usually decide on my resolution until mid-January, the one to stop procrastinating has not done so well!

Last year's was a simple to stop eating in front of the computer, and I did pretty well with that one, although I'll confess the last couple of months saw a backslide with a few snacks, although meals are now given more attention.

This year I decided I should get dressed at least 5 days a week. When you are mostly home, it's so easy to just stay in nightwear all the time. Bathe and put on a clean nightgown, lol.

I'm sicker than a dog, I expect to be off to a slow start on that one.

If anyone needs a little inspiration, here are a few from past years that I have did well with:

For the millenium: To dance more often.

From 1979: To compliment strangers. It's amazing how much of a lift a "I like that purse" "You have such a nice way with your little boy", "You were so patient with that customer" will do for people.

To eat more vegetables.

To eat more soy (well, I've pretty much failed, but I do eat a lot of other legumes).

To return phone calls from people that leave me messages. I know, I shouldn't have had to make a resolution to do that, but ya know.

From 1991. To find something to be thankful for every day. It's a little bit hard at first, but it's a good habit to have.

I love a New Year, it brings such hope and promise.

People make these resolutions every year but change doesn't come easy. I'd probably be better off if I did a lot of things differently.

I could be better at accepting blame. Really, I'm just waiting for something to be my fault.

I probably should get more exercise but there's only so much I can do from the couch. I did go to a gym once but there was like 8 stairs just to get in the place. Seriously, what do these people expect?

I have been eating better lately. Swanson has this little pile of vegetables beside the brownie.

I really should be smoking less... Or emptying the ashtray more.... Either/or.

I haven't been very good with relationships. I could try to do better there. It's just hard to find a good woman who appreciates good sarcasm and don't mind being neglected.

I'm trying to be more patient with people. Of course, the sooner they stop pissing me off the sooner that'll happen.

To be honest, I don't even like making these resolutions. In fact starting today I'm not making any more of them.

I love your sarcasm!
