MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The owner of Alabama's largest casino, four state senators and several top lobbyists have been indicted on federal charges accusing them of vote buying in an effort to get a bill passed that would have legalized electronic bingo.
The indictment was released Monday as FBI agents made arrests at several locations across the state.

It accused the casino owners and statehouse figures of conspiring to make payments and campaign donations to affect "pro-gambling legislation." ....

**heavy sigh** Why don't they all just forget that electronic bingo crap and put legalized, regulated, FAIR, gambling up for a vote??

Honest to Gawd, you would think they would, Mousey. It really makes me want to scream and yell, I'll tell you.

I wrote a blog about this a couple of weeks ago. What I don't get is these games have been around since the 90's. The AG said the games were legal and then suddenly the governor decided they weren't and against the AG's will and advice went after these businesses eventually securing a state supreme court ruling against the racinos. What a terrible idea to destroy these rural businesses during a recession.
