Over the last few decades I have been spoiled with some great performances from the Dutch national team with winning the European Championships in 1988 as the absolute highlight.
The Dutch have had their highs and lows in all these years but at this very moment in time the state of the Dutch football is in it's worst condition ever!

Missing the European Championships in 2016 was already a warning of worse to come.
Tonight they have hit a new record low, trailing Bulgaria by 2-0.
Our chances now to qualify for the world cup in 2018 are already slim to none.

And although the players have to do it on the pitch.
This is the real culprit!!!

DANNY BLIND! PISS OFF!!!!!!!

But he sits tight on his leather ass as the bobo's from the Dutch FA have no balls to fire him!

Our club football is already dead and buried when it comes to our performances in European leagues but now also the National Team is sinking hard.

We once were a feared opponent, now opponents know they can beat us at any given time.

A shame! A bloody bloody shame!!!

RIP The Netherlands! :(:(:(

Aside from Robben what world class players have you?

I feel pity for you, coming from a country that sees its overpaid prissy wankers fail at every tournament. Mind you, unlike the orange shirt wearers and the orange wig wearers, at least we qualify to get the inevitable disappointment.

The Dutch side, like England, have mediocre players overrated.

I did feel sorry for the cloggies in 2010 (having previously been tied with Hungary and Czechoslovakia as the 3 countries never to win the World Cup but be runners-up twice) when they lost for the third time in a final. It still remains a great mystery to us Englishmen how the Dutch failed to win either the 1974 or 1978 finals, with a side that probably even exceeded the wonderful 1970 Brazil team as the best ever assembled.

Mind you, funnily enough the orange wig wearers did manage to beat the orange shirt wearers 3-2 in Argentina in 1978, with an great goal by little Archie Gemmill after they had somehow managed not to beat Iran or Peru in the group stages and had to beat Holland by 3 goals to go through. The first tourney I remember as a child.

England are the opposite of Germany - we play great between tournaments winning 90% of qualifiers and friendlies in between, then turn to rat-shit in the finals. Germany either win, come runners-up or at worst losing semi-finalists and then scrape along between tourneys.

Yeah besides Robben it is piss poor at the moment.
If you have a 17 year old babyface as your left back defender and Bruno Martins Indi as a central back then you know how bad it is.

We had Bas Dost as striker who scored 23 goals already for Sporting Lisbon.
Tonight he was invincible.

Sneijder FUK OFF,too old and no more drive whatsoever.

Wijnaldum? LMFAO,wanna be star.

Memphis Depay? Better goes for a new carreer...Pot smoking gangsta rapper...

Etc etc etc...

I miss the days of Marco Van Basten, Johan Cruijff, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ruud Gullit, Ronald Koeman, Dennis Bergkamp, Jaaps Stam, Ronald and Frank de Boer, Johan Neeskens, Hans van Breukelen, Adri van Tiggelen, Jaap Stam, Frank Rijkaard, Wim Kieft, Marc Overmars, Pierre van Hooijdonk.........

These days the Dutch team is a runaway train to nowhere with a twat of a coach who doesn't even know a football is round and you need to score to win a game....Danny Blind....Mister horse manure 2017!

I didn't. I wanted them to win, and thought they and the Spanish were going to put on a show. Instead, they played cynical football
and played more like a rugby team than a soccer team. A potentially great final ruined by one team who had no interest in playing a beautiful game and were more interested in having a bar room brawl.

But the Dutch in many ways are actually bigger failures than the English. If it's not cockiness (like they were guilty of in the '74 final), then it's infighting (Italia '90 and Euro '96 were massive failures given the talent they had) or it's shitthebed-itis for one 90 minute period when they were cruising along just fine, particularly in the Euros. There's no way they should have lost their semi-finals to Italy in 2000 or Portugal in 2004. Or the quarter final to Russia in 2008. Even the one time they were successful (Euro '88), they threatened to make a hash of that too (they were ten minutes away from being knocked out by the Irish).

It's pretty sad to see how dramatically they have fallen since 2014, which was another opportunity missed.
It was like they were so repulsed by the idea of losing another final to Germany, that losing the semi to the Argies was the more palatable option. :p

dutch failure

Lotusch, i agree we should shame, especially if u see what kind of salary these people get for making the dutch soccer games nightmares, but i think Danny blind he should also decide to leave, because since he joined it's a big drama, 2010 Final world championship against spain, and now loosing from bulgaria, what a big drama, really i feel ashame!:(

Yep, we all remember the exciting Dutch teams of years gone by and how they used to dazzle in tournaments. Always amongst the forerunners and a team you'd want to avoid in the knockout stages, not just because they were tough to beat, but would play you off the pitch to boot

Bergkamp at the '94 WC, what a masterclass, and that was the pinnacle of the Dutch team during my generation. Of course they were good prior to this, and I watched in dismay as they turfed West Germany out of the '88 Euros Semi- Finals

Gone are the days when Ajax would churn out superstars on a conveyor belt, so at club level there are is a bit of a drought at present. But I believe the Dutch football team is just going through a painful transition at present, lest we forget how terrible Germany were in '98, when the likes of Kohler & co were just running on past glories.

It took German football the best part of a decade to bring youngsters through and another decade or so before they became champions-elect....I recall how crap they were in the 're-building' years, performing terribly in 2000, '02 and '04 before over-achieving in '06. Took another four tournaments after that to win something

France had it too after their '98 and 2000 successes, took well over a decade to make them credible again. I belive the Dutch will bounce back but it might take another 7-1o years

You could always have Berti back if you like :p

Lord no.

Strachan os/was a good manager. But all the Scotland managers seem stuck in the mid with team selection.

We played Canada the other night and drew 1-1 both of the best players on the pitch were Scottish....but playing for Canada.

Scottish football is finished for now. No money no sponsorship.

Sky ate talking big money to show Celtic vs Rangers games again. But its too little too late.

Blind did not appear at todays training and talks have been ongoing the whole day in the Dutch FA's HQ.
I expect by tomorrow the news will come out he either got sacked or he quit himself.
Now let's see who will take over.

They should have given the job to Ronald Koeman 2 years ago, I am 200% sure he would have picked a completely different squad.
We still have talent enough coming up, our -19 and -18 squads perform well and the team I support (PSV Eindhoven) has some really rough diamonds in the young PSV squad.
So not all is lost but we must act now!

Yeah don't worry, I heard Steve McLaren is available.

Second choice would naturally be Woy Hodgson

It is just confirmed, Danny Blind has left the building!!!:thumbsup:

Now if we win the remaining 5 games we can still qualify. :D

I wonder who they will ask.....

In The Netherlands everyone wants Ronald Koeman, he'd be a great guy for the job.
Did great things with Southampton and now Everton.

Hmmm some odd names circling around...

Claudio Ranieri , Jurgen Klinsmann , Arsene Wenger :p:D:p

It seems the Dutch FA is looking to get a foreign coach in as most Dutch coaches are already on a job.
Ronald Koeman probably won't do it as he was ignored 2 years ago when he wanted the job.
Most likely Dutch coach to follow him up would be Frank de Boer but he is also too inexperienced and has too much ties with Ajax Amsterdam which always will reflect on the choice of squad.

I'd love a foreign coach because I have had it with all Dutch coaches.
The only one that did ok was Louis van Gaal in the last decade or so.

Despite Wenger stating that he is staying at Arsenal I wounder if the statement was just to stabalise the team until the end of the season? I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to be a national coach before retiring.
As for Scotland? If the Scots where to gain independence where would the money come from to maintain and improve Scottish football?
