I see in another thread a few of you (us) are into their Horse Racing, I don't usually do Horses so I'll probably not have much to contribute to the thread, however having had a nice double last week with the same runners out today, I thought I would back the same duo today again.

So here we have a Horse Racing thread where you can share your own Tips and Naps for the days racing and hopefully share a few winners with us here at CasinoMeister.

I'll start the thread rolling with:

Southwell 2.10 - Brigadoon
Southwell 3.50 - Fiery Spice

Did these last week during the Cheltenham Festival and earned a nice £58 from a £3 double with Brigadoon breezing home with 10 Lengths clear, hoping for the same result today at much lower odds.

And my 10p Lucky 15:

Clonmell 2.55 - Wilms Warrior
Southwell 5.00 - Crosse Fire
Wetherby 5.10 - Ask Paddy
Clonmell 5.15 - Imperial Way

£81 each way return for = £3 total stake

glad you started this, I kept meaning to and got distracted, I may at times post non racing tips, on more obscure things, and certainly not worth having a separate thread for. Maybe it could be the non football sports betting thread? :)

So for tomorrow Rolling Maul in the 4.35 at Bangor is around 8-1 at the moment and the stable think he will 100% get a top 3 finish and most likely win.
Un Guet Apens in the 5.00 Kelso is highly regarded and don't think the current 7/2 will be there for long.

In other sports bets, Lewis Hamilton at 5/2 To Score A Hat-Trick in the Australian GP is twice what it should be and well worth a bet.

Big River in the 2.40 Kelso is good at 4/1.

I'm betting on Thunder and Roses + Gas Line Boy today in the National. Feeling brave so on the nose instead of each way.

Decided to try a £25 - £1000 challenge.
This quite possibly will fail at the first bet stage, but my thinking is to start with an ok win, then split stakes, so if todays bet loses, will try again tomorrow etc till the first bet wins, and go from there.
Most people do this using 1.07 shots, and takes forever, I would rather do larger odds, but with more risk, and if I get to £500 I won't be putting the full £500 on anything like they do!

So to start today

Great start!

Haven't heard of the challenge, but seems like some craze rolled out by bookmakers, knowing full well how difficult it would be, and how few will actually succeed ;)

Hopefully you will be one of the ones who do.

Been almost 6 years backing horses before I had a dabble at Cheltenham this year (slots took over completely) , so I have a question for you Colin if you don't mind.

Let's say I back a horse at 10/1 at £10 each way. I know the total bet is £20, I also know that odds are slashed by 1/4 or 1/5 depending on how many horses take part.

What I do forget is how much I will have returned if my horse finishes 1st with an each way bet.

Do I get the full odds? The example above would return me the full £220?

Its not a challenge ran by anyone, just one I've set myself. Not a bad start, £337 returned as were best odds guaranteed, so a third of the way there already, but long way to go yet.

To answer your question, think of it as 2 x £10 bets, a £10 win and a £10 place.

A 10-1 winner at 1/4 odds would return

£110 for the win part
£35 for the place part
£145 total

Ah, excellent, that's such an easy way to understand it, thanks

So with my last £6 (Until Intercasino process my withdrawal), I did a £3 EW Treble...which will return a whopping £1414.88 provided they all win

Definitely be happy if they just placed I reckon :D

As If..jpg

Good Luck with your selections today mate, hopefully a step closer to your 1k target

How the hell have I missed this thread? Cheers for posting it :D There is some decent racing today so as soon as I've sorted my bets out I will pop back with my selections

Its been a struggle to log in to Casinomeister

I've taken long prices in an each way yankee because with so many runners in some races I prefer the better value for money.

EW Yankee :-

Newbury 3:40 George William Ayr 2:45 Chesterfield 3:20Somchine 3:55 Trustan Times

Yankee :-
Newbury 1:55 Crimian tatar 2:30 Dabyah 3:05 War Secretary and Ayr 2:10 Flying Angel

I have also taken an each way punt on Battle of Shiloh in the Scottish National because as long as he stays on his feet I think he has a very good chance of being placed.
Good luck with your bets :)

chall01.jpg

So 337.50 returns from yesterday, putting a £21 treble on today, leaving a balance of 316.50 running on. Might do something else later as haven't looked at the later cards yet.

chall02.jpg

I haven't done any single bets on the SN but also like Battle of Shiloh and have it in my forecasts and tricasts.

I've done 50p reverse exactas and trifectas on

Battle of Shiloh
Missed Approach
Arpege D'Alene
Dawson City

Also done a 50p EW Lucky 15 on

Minella on Line (1.40)
Muntahaa (1.55)
Peace and Co (2.45)
George William (3.40)

Good luck to everyone with their bets today :D. I'm normally lucky to get one placed on a Saturday!

Shit I thought I had the first two winners in my EW Yankee. Chesterfield won @ 16-1 ( I took the early prices) and Somchine came 3rd @20-1. Roll on the next two races :)
My yankee bombed :(

2 winners on the treble, typical, anyway, £25 double below, taking balance to £291.50

Custom Cut on his old form would walk all over these, and if he's as good as he was and would be 1/2 not odds against, so taking a risk but if he wins he wont be this price again.

really like Chelsea Lad, just not happy about the price or would have had about a £50 win on if it was 5-1+

chall03.jpg

Doing it that way means if CC wins I still have the £50 going onto CL :)

Unlucky with Chelsea, it looked like it became lame.:(

My last horse limped in about 7th but I more than covered all of my bets for today with the EW yankee :)

* Col smiles off to check out the evenings meetings :D

Fuck sake, that's just horrible luck that Lad.....none for me today, but hopefully better Luck for you today

And you Geordie if you have a dabble

And to both of you too.

Today I have taken two win Yankee's
Navan 215 Could it be 245 Brave display 320 Alphaset 355 Bengala

Stratford 200 Jack Snipe 230 Derrick D'anjou 300 Thisonetime 335 Blandfords Gunner.

Hunters Chase night at Cheltenham today, investing £15 of my balance on an EW Lucky 15 at Betvictor (BOG)

5.40 Carry On Asian @ 11/1
6.10 Kristian Gray @ 20/1
6.45 Curraigflemens @ 33/1
7.50 One Conemara @ 16/1

^^^ That would have been a bumper payout even if they where only placed

My bets today are

Lucky 15
Newmarket
1:50 Next Stag 2:55 Gala Plait 3:35 Barney Roy
Goodwood
2:05 Alf Guineas

EW Yankee

Newmarket 2:20 Kinberella
Goodwood 1:35 Miss Tiger Lily 2:40 Ice Age
Uttoxeter 2:45 Market Road

Good luck :)

After my useless Lucky 15 my balance stands at £276.50

I've put £100 win on Desert Sting today in the 3.50 at Stratford at 7/2 (BOG). Put this on in store as don't want my accounts closing online, so no screenshot. It hasn't the best form under rules recently, but has won its last 3 PTP's by 29l, 10l and 25l (24f) since changing yards, albeit over slightly further, but the slight drop in trip to 22f shouldn't be a problem, as has won over 20f in the past. I think the favourite for the race has stamina issues, and is about a third of the price it should be (Speed Demon).

I know Torret Des Mottes is fancied in the 7.00 at Roscommon, but at 5/4 isn't one for me, however, if Desert Sting wins, I will put a £50 SFC on it to beat Mr Showtime just so I have an interest in the race.

I might have a small bet on Desert Sting distance betting too, but will see a bit later, 280-1 with Betvictor for it to win by 25+ lengths has to be worth a couple of quid, as is 20-1 to win by 10 lengths, not big bets, but probably £2 at 280-1 and £3 at 20-1

That went pretty much as expected, Desert Sting won quite easily in the end, Speed demon did better than I expected as although he was ridden a few furlongs out, did manage to stage a bit of a late rally but didn't last out the race as I thought.

Balance now £626.50, but will be doing the £50 SFC mentioned in the earlier post, so taking the stake out for that, £576.50

Feck me! Very nice

Any tips for the Chester meetings this week?

I have taken a Lucky 15 on 13:50 Emilia James 2:25 Enable 3:00 Majestic Hero and 3:35 Blakeney Point for tomorrows meeting.

I tend to avoid big meetings like this for any decent bets, just if I'm going to be in the house I usually have a smally Lucky 15 or something to give me an interest in the race.

I know at Newton Abbot in the 2.35 Wadswick Court is expected to run well, but it's a tough race with plenty of others in the race that could beat it, probably have a small EW bet on him as will kick myself if I don't and he wins lol.

Over at Chester, 2.25 Alluringly should win, the Gosden hourse keeping it odds against at the moment, but think it will start odds on.

El Astronaute has a good chance from stall 1 in the 3.00, but 2/1 isn't for me, I was expecting more like 7/2.

In the Chester Cup, Who Dares Wins has a good chance, but the prices have gone now, but I do like Watersmeet @ 9/1 EW with Skybet paying the first 6 places. Going to do a £25 EW single on that for my challenge, as I cant see it being out the first 6. Small profit if it places, nice profit if it wins!

Stradivarius should win the 4.05 without breaking sweat.

Same comments apply to Gin In The Inn in the 5.05.

Might do a small treble on the 3 short priced ones at Chester for an innterest if I'm home, really struggling to see anything to beat any of them, no doubt something will though if I do back them :D

Good luck with yours for today :)

Nice result with Wadswick Court,I hope that you managed to get a good price on it?
I hope you didn't get to put that treble on?
I'm not really turned on by today's card at Chester so I have just stuck a small Lucky 15 on

13:50 Khairaat 14:25 Poets Word 15:00 Areen Heart 15:35 Venice Beach

Good Luck today Col

Forecast lost yesterday, but made up for that today with a 220-1 winning bet!

Great stuff!

Where are you playing where you can bet on Lengths to win by?

Do you know if Betfair have that type of bet? That's my sportsbook spot :)

And Good Luck today again

Edit: Just realized you also completed your 1k challenge - on to the 2k challenge now Colin

no I didn't so that was lucky, did do a tenner EW on WC and Watersmeet (6 places) so got £75 back from that and £25 EW on Watersmeet which returned £81 . Good luck today, I don't like anything much, but in the 3.00 I can't see Via Egnatia being out the places, so doing the same as yesterday, £25 EW at 9/2 with Coral (challenge bet)

I may be in a bookies around 2.30, if I am for the 2.25 I may stick a small SFC on deauville to beat Folkswood, but only as an interest on the race if I'm there to watch it and can see the betting beforehand :)

Betvictor, lengthen the odds button at the top of every race when you are on the racecard. If you win expect to be limited, did 4 bets last night, all lengths like the ones above, every one (mainly £2 bets) were sent to traders, and every one came back with a reduced stake :(

Unfortunately it wasn't a bet for the challenge :( but as the EW bet won £81 yesterday am up to 657.50

I won quite a bit at Dundalk and Chelmsford last night (over £300 from a £10 deposit) by laying stuff in running, a 1.02 got beat, and a few 1.05's in the place market, some dodgy as fuck goings on at Dundalk last night though!
