(ICE) for the tenth time!

This is where I have the opportunity to meet a number of operators, software vendors, licensing jurisdiction peeps, and some of my webmaster buddies etc, and it's also where you have a chance to ask your questions or voice your concerns.

Please let me know what is on your mind, and I'll do my best to get some responses from people. Thanks!

U.S. Players

hi Bryan!!

Wondering what's in store for U.S. players in 2011... especially with Microgaming. Still can't understand why they took away so many games from us while allowing us to play the old stuff. Why was it ok to play Thunderstruck 1 but not Thunderstruck 2? hahaha ridiculous.

And Rival, 3dice and RTG allow progressives but not MG. I don't get it.

Thanks for everything you do and for the best gaming site online.

Have fun!

I had made a post here: https://www.casinomeister.com/forums/threads/cds.41931/

Basically, if you have a conversation with RTG (CDS in particular) can you please explain this to them in the simplest terms?

In a nutshell, the issue is not with their INITIAL complaint "submit" button. It is in any further correspondence the "submit" button doesnt work any longer. So it is very easy to make a dispute and click submit. However, if they ask for more info or you need to add anything and you go back and type in information THEN hit submit then NOTHING happens.
If you could tell them that and tell them to have a seperate email that they can actually receive correspondence to it would be amazing and great.

Thank you and enjoy yourself!

Hello there Bryan

Wonder if you could find out whether Rival will ever let Canadians play again anytime soon or if there is a light at the end of the long dark tunnel. I sure miss playing there. I understand it's because their banking servers or something like that are situated in Canada. If there is nothing in sight for us, maybe they could open a Rival casino that allows Canadians just as one was created for US gamers at microgaming. That would at least give us the opportunity to play.

Have a great week, enjoy and stay safe.

I'm 99.99% sure that RTG and Rival will not be showing their faces at ICE - so I'm afraid you're wasting your breath... :(

If they were, then I would almost certainly go to the event myself again this year and ask them some tough questions. As it is there's not much point going, so I'm giving it a miss this year.

I would like to know what they (RTG) were thinking when they introduced the increased dead bonus/spin rounds in their games. I feel this has really become an epidemic among the platforms. I just played at another casino that has NEVER given me a dud bonus/free spin round and I got 15 free spins x 3 and won Nothing...I was amazed because it has never happened at this casino platform to me before ...and now it shows, that they too, have introduced this phenomenon...I also contacted the rep on board here about it to find out what in the world they were thinking by introducing this themselves.

I would like to know what the other major UK operators like Will Hill, 32Red, Lads, Betfred, VC, Coral, Bet365, Tote etc made of Betfair's extroadinary promotion and even more extroadinary behaviour subsequently.

I still find it incredible that these companies have all hououred their offers yet a competitor has walked away from their obligations and basically made a mockery of the industry.

I would love to know their reaction to this. It would not surprise me if there is industry wide fallout from the Betfair scandal in time. If players do start winning court cases it could possibly lead to a UK Govt crackdown on remote gambling jurisdictions.

Why should the whole UK industry suffer as a result of Betfair's foolishness?

Why should the whole UK industry suffer as a result of Betfair's foolishness?

It's already started, the new Culture Secretary is looking into the current arrangements, because the operators have not complied "with the spirit of the act" because they have "advantage located" themselves in the least regulated and taxed locations they could get away with, and as far as the UK government are concerned have "bitten off the hand that fed them". Looks like Karma has come back around to bite them on the ass:D

It was the UK Gambling Act that pioneered the entry of the online gambling industry into the realms of "respectable business" by giving them a legal regulatory framework whilst many other jurisdictions were making great efforts to "run them out of town". The whitelist arrangement was intended to allow free trade throughout the EU, rather than operators having to have separate licenses for each EU member state it wanted to market into. Operators simply moved to Malta, where the regime is the most lax, and taxes are lowest, and have tried to target ALL EU countries from this secluded base of operations. They are ALSO using this structure to deny players the legal rights they would normally enjoy when consuming any other goods or services.
Betfair, for example, have made it quite clear that ENGLISH laws and regulations do NOT apply to ENGLISH players who which to make a complaint, and that instead they have to go to Malta to make their case, and as we know, Malta just ignores player complaints, as they have little interest in actually POLICING how operators treat their customers.

The REAL issue is that this is NOT what has spurred the Culture Secretary into action, and things could get even WORSE for the industry if further research is done, and this reveals the mass "screwing over" of UK players through the manipulation of the EU single market structure to strip them of their basic consumer rights. It is the lack of TAX revenue coming from profits earned HERE that has concerned the government at a time when finances are very tight. There is ALREADY a vigorous pursuit underway of other business sectors that generate most of their profits in the UK, but register in an offshore "tax haven" to avoid paying any UK tax on these profits.

Shoot with your questions - since even though they don't have a stand, they are usually here hanging out meeting their operators. :D

Just an FYI - I'll be seeing MGS, Kahnawake, operators from iNetBet, Club World, 32Red, Purple Lounge amongst others...

I think most people's questions would be the same;

To both RTG & Rival - why don't you take more control over the actions of your "loose canon" operators?

To RTG - why don't you stop the endless speculation on the forums and display the RTP on each and every slot game in each casino?
(i.e. On the actual playing screen - or in the game rules (help page)).

Why doesn't Rival pay for Scatter Wins or at least grant extra spins on all their games?

Scary Rich 1 and 2 pay zippo for hitting 3, 4 or 5 triggers. You get the same # of free spins whether you initialize the FS with 3 or 5.

Some of their other games do grant extra spins for 5 scatters/triggers, but as far as I know they all pay nothing for getting the FS. I've never had a casino software let me have so many zero-win free spin sessions as Rival does. You can easily hit 10 free rounds of free spins at Rival and have none of them pay more than 5x bet. :(

I like at least how 3dice states "High or Low Variance" on each game and also posts realtime RTP for every game.... why can't the big guys do this too?

Faster Withdrawal times

Bryan... how bout making sure all these big casinos get us our money within 24 hours of requesting a withdrawal.

The #1 reason I prefer a real casino (even with smoke -- gag) is because I get cash right away.

I can't stand winning and then having some casinos take 3 to 4 days (especially over the weekend) to get it out to Quicktender or some other wallet.

24 hrs MAX. No exceptions

As a follow up to this question -

Why is it that I am experiencing better than usual bonus/free spin rounds? Have operators increased the variance of the actual feature games to produce such a large fluctuation? It could be done without affecting RTP, and hence would allow a 'change' in the game even if KK suggestion of RTP labelling were to be implemented.

The never ending downloading of Microgaming games.

It would be great if the downloading of the entire gamecatalogue would not be mandatory.
I play maybe 5% of them, still I have to download all of them after each and every update.
By the time I have all my casinos updated, the whole circus starts all over again because the next update has arrived.
There are ppl with downloadlimits ya know...

Thanks in advance!

You can ask the LGA why they are such a bunch of spineless, cowering, ineffectual regulators and why they have not responded to anyone (helpfully) over the Betfair bonus fiasco.

one way out of it would be to introduce the win-win feature for all slots. i got zilch on the 9 free spins at triple twister and it paid me 50x bet on the win-win feature. that's reasonable in my book and compensates u for getting absolutely nothing during free spins.

That's a good suggestion Chu.

The only thing is that most of the time it pays 3x bet so then people would be complaining they weren't getting high enough win-win pays.

If it was min 10 or 15 xbet it might work but whatever is added to the bottom comes off the top so the really nice wins would be less frequent.

I would like to give Microgaming a few tips to improve their tournaments.
Here they come:

1. Disable the timer.Why?

* Because its useless.
The amount of coins is already limited, so why is there a timer?

* Because it gives players with a top-of-the-shelve PC a huge advantage over others. Some players can easily play twice the amount of spins others can. And did I mention unstable internetconnections? Severfailure on the casino side?
No big deal if you play a free tourney, but it sucks when you paid for it.

2. Enable quickspin on all tournamentgames. Why?

* Because there is a timer counting down!!

* Because I can hardly finish a Hitman tournament without falling asleep.

* Because playing a tourney should more thrilling than watching a painting dry.

3. Limit the number of continues available.

But I do realise that 3. is more up to the casinos to decide.

These tips are basically free of charge, altough a voluntairily donation to my Neteller account would ofcourse be highly appreciated.:D

Thanks in advance!

Microgaming don't give a %^$£ - I have mentioned the same things many times, and MGS KNOW about these issues, but when they revamped the tournaments, the ONLY thing they did was to add "autoplay" to save on the finger clicking.

They probably like the timer because it is an extra feature, so they can boast TWO features (timer & coins), instead of just one (coins).

Players have OBVIOUSLY been drifting away from these tournaments, and this is probably down to all the problems.

Once you have played a few times on a "value" computer, you quickly realise it is NOT a fair contest, so will either get a decent PC, or just not bother PAYING for any tournaments. I have noticed a sharp fall in the number of players entering, and MGS has reacted by making the prizes WORSE, hence even FEWER players enter. The other trick is the "1000 continues". Great if you have a fast PC and time on your hands. Slow PC & a day job - forget it, you don't stand a chance.

When you are up against a timer, there is only ONE tactic, play max coins as fast as you can. This is very mechanical and boring, and to make things even WORSE, the games play 10x SLOWER than in the lobby. Paint actually dries FASTER than many MGS tournaments take to play.

The ONLY timer needed is the overall duration of the tournament, so if one ends at midnight on the 31st, this is the ONLY countdown timer needed.

Getting rid of the timer would solve ALL the major points either directly, or indirectly.

Benefit of ditching the timer.

1) It doesn't matter what PC or crappy internet connection you have, everybody will be able to play the same number of spins.

2) Visible level playing field, no-one need feel at a disadvantage because they don't have the "right kit"

There are other improvements that would make the tournaments much more exiting, because they would give freedom to use many tactics.

1) Make the games faster - less boring, and would make players WANT to carry on buying further continues.

2) Allow variable COIN values, and give a "play dollar" amount. This would give the option of playing steadily, or going for a quick knockout by hoping to catch a bonus round on high value stakes. This would be just as thrilling as it is in normal play when you catch a bonus after raising your bet.

3) After a certain point, have rebuys and continues inflate the prize pool. As the pool increases, more players would be attracted, and those already playing would be more inclined to rebuy and continue. It will be a positive feedback loop in some cases, and many tournaments could end up filled to capacity with very substantial prize pools going to the top players.

For RTG: Is there any chance of them getting the play history page put up at their casinos so when we want to see our play history we don't have to e-mail the casino and wait days to get the history from RTG. Something along the lines of the set up that Micro Game has?

Enjoy yourself,

LH

I hope everyone is having fun!

There is some debate going on concerning some RTG casinos and their "new" system of taking out free chip monies and balances over the max cashout amount during play before a withdrawal is requested. This is leaving some players feeling they are now free to continue playing as the WR have been met and free chip money has been removed. Why are some RTG casinos "equipped" to implement this system and others aren't? I, personally, don't feel it's fair to do this while a player is still playing.

Also, if possible, could you please extend a big Thank you to Tom from Club World for stepping up to the plate and "fixing" the student clause and the area of Markham terms? There was a lot of "heat" towards them and I think they handled the changes in a professional and timely manner.

Oddly, some games have them perfectly while others don't at all with RTG.

Some great questions people - I may not have all the answers yet, but I have made a number of people aware of what's on your mind.

hi Bryan!!

Wondering what's in store for U.S. players in 2011... especially with Microgaming. Still can't understand why they took away so many games from us while allowing us to play the old stuff. Why was it ok to play Thunderstruck 1 but not Thunderstruck 2? hahaha ridiculous.
Speaking with MGS's CEO, he said he would love to take US players back tomorrow if he could, but as long as the US remains a gray area, there is no way this is possible. Even with NJ possibly opening up in the near future, it will probably only be when the US is opened up fully. We're looking at 5-6 years maybe longer.

Basically, if you have a conversation with RTG (CDS in particular) can you please explain this to them in the simplest terms?...
Unfortunately, I never saw any of the RTG execs. I had to leave Friday, so I didn't have time to really hunt them down. :(

But I've been emailing them about the CDS errors. Hopefully they will stay on top of this.

Wonder if you could find out whether Rival will ever let Canadians play again anytime soon or if there is a light at the end of the long dark tunnel. I sure miss playing there. I understand it's because their banking servers or something like that are situated in Canada...
You probably guessed right. They don't take Canadians because their offices are located there. Don't want to piss off the Canadian Mounties :p

Rival did not make themselves known at the ICE. It was a pity I didn't bump into any of them.

I would like to know what the other major UK operators like Will Hill, 32Red, Lads, Betfred, VC, Coral, Bet365, Tote etc made of Betfair's extroadinary promotion and even more extroadinary behaviour subsequently.

Basically, everyone I spoke to about this were shocked. But I didn't speak to anyone from Playtech nor the LGA.

...To both RTG & Rival - why don't you take more control over the actions of your "loose canon" operators?
Even though I didn't meet with RTG or Rival. I think it's safe to say that it's more complex than what it seems. RTG seems to have a pretty good handle on operators - except for a handful of roguish operators. The big roguish Groups (ex-Crystal Palace Group, Virtual etc.) were such big money makers back a few years ago that RTG would have been cutting off its head in spite of its face by shutting them down. Instead, they forced these operators to get their acts together. Which they did to some extent...

...but saying this, I think it was a mistake. RTG's reputation suffered so badly that they have really never recovered fully from this. It's a shame since there are some very good upstanding people who are RTG operators. They have at times been thrown into the decade long RTG casino bashfest.

To RTG - why don't you stop the endless speculation on the forums and display the RTP on each and every slot game in each casino?
(i.e. On the actual playing screen - or in the game rules (help page)).

KK
It's all going to be going to 95% in the future, so I don't think they're about to invest the time and effort to do this now. This may be an option for their operators to post game-by-game RTP on their websites - I don't know.

This is something I brought up with their CEO and senior software guy. They are planning some improvements with the interface and download functions...
You can ask the LGA why they are such a bunch of spineless, cowering, ineffectual regulators and why they have not responded to anyone (helpfully) over the Betfair bonus fiasco.
I didn't bother visiting with the LGA since it's just sales people I'd be talking to. If LGA's administration is clueless on how to deal with player issues, just image the blank stares you'd get from the sales reps :p

All this and more from the upcoming newsletter...
