US election: Polls show Romney won TV debate with Obama

After the 90-minute duel centring on taxes, the deficit and healthcare, polls gave Mr Romney a 46-67% margin with Mr Obama trailing with 22-25%.

Commentators said Mr Romney appeared in command while Mr Obama was hesitant.

Mr Obama has led national polls and surveys in the swing states that will decide the 6 November election.

The BBC's Mark Mardell says if the gap narrows or Mitt Romney starts moving ahead of Mr Obama, that will be a huge boost for his campaign, and suggest he could win the White House.

However if they hardly budge, then the Republican challenger will be in deep trouble, the North America editor adds.

From BBC News

Surely Obama has to win?

He has an extremely talented father.
According to one lady at this Romney rally Obama's father was.. "A Muslim, an Atheist AND a Communist" That takes some doing..

Someone else is blaming the Buddhists for forcing their religion onto America. :D

Pity Buddhism wasn`t the main religion on this planet, the world would be a far better place "Let the resolution of conflict be through peaceful means only", back to topic - doesn`t matter who makes it they will still be a puppet on a string being controlled by the same presidential advisers that have been advising presidents since kangaroos were fish .

As long as they finish the job of securing a central banking system owned by the Rothschild's in the last three countries not to have one - Cuba, North Korea, Iran, nothing else matters.

It would be better if there was no religion on this planet. Buddhists have committed atrocities like all others (WWII Japan vs China etc.,). And they have a tendency of setting themselves on fire. How peaceful

"Imagine" like J. Lennon - that's the way it should be.

Well not entirely true, Japan`s main religion is Shinto and China`s is Shenism-Taoism, I was referring to the Dali Lama`s quote after China invaded Tibet and wiped out 2/5th`s of their population, admittedly some do set themselves on fire, but do not do this courtesy of wearing a semtex waistcoat :eek2:.

I wholeheartedly agree 100% on your stand regarding John Lennon, weird how people like John Lennon that are both influential and advocate world peace don`t stay around long .

Who's Mitt Romney?

Ok for real, I have a funny presedential voting moment I would like to share with you.

My son is gay. He is 9 and knows who he is already. He told me like last month or something but I didn't care, I love him just the same.

Anywho, we were sitting at the dinner table and my oldest says I am going to vote for Obama tomorrow, my son said I like Mitt Romney....

I say "You know that Romney is against gay marriage and a whole lot of other things.."

Before I could get the words out my son sat straight up in his chair and said....

"Nevermind, Obama then."

Here's the thing I have been going over and over in my head. The way USA is now, I think I may like to try someone different. I would pass up some of the things Obama believes in just to get us on the right track again.

I don't mean this nasty at all, but is gay marriage (or whatever Romney is against) really more important than people getting jobs and getting our ecomomy back on track? People are starving, not working, losing their houses, honestly struggling to survive, etc...IMHO there are more important things to worry about right now.

Whilst your government spends around 53% of the annual budget on the military, your country, for want of a better term will always be f%$£*d, removing the likes of Kissinger, Cheney, Rumsfeld etc from advisory positions would be a hell of a start ;).

As far as the importance, yes it's very important to me for obvious reasons.

What you may find insignificant can mean happiness and acceptance for my children in the future. I am not saying that gay marriage is the most important thing to me, however, I am just sayin that it is important.

That's kinda like sayin "who cares about online gaming when nobody has jobs etc". It's not the number one priority but its still on the list, am I right?

To be quite honest I don't care about either one of em.

My main concern right now if I were American would be the powers bestowed into FEMA and their concentration camps, unless all of you think it ok that in times of a national disaster they can confiscate your home, food, transport, children to work on a farm etc.

Their powers, that come into force as soon as the situation arises....................................

Here are just a few Executive Orders associated with FEMA that would suspend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These Executive Orders have been on record for nearly 30 years and could be enacted by the stroke of a Presidential pen:

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990 allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 10998 allows the government to seize all means of transportation, including personal cars, trucks or vehicles of any kind and total control over all highways, seaports, and waterways.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 10999 allows the government to take over all food resources and farms.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11001 allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11002 designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11051 specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11310 grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11049 assigns emergency preparedness function to federal departments and agencies, consolidating 21 operative Executive Orders issued over a fifteen year period.

* EXECUTIVE ORDER 11921 allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S. financial institution in any undefined national emergency. It also provides that when a state of emergency is declared by the President, Congress cannot review the action for six months. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has broad powers in every aspect of the nation. General Frank Salzedo, chief of FEMA's Civil Security Division stated in a 1983 conference that he saw FEMA's role as a "new frontier in the protection of individual and governmental leaders from assassination, and of civil and military installations from sabotage and/or attack, as well as prevention of dissident groups from gaining access to U.S. opinion, or a global audience in times of crisis." FEMA's powers were consolidated by President Carter to incorporate:

o the National Security Act of 1947, which allows for the strategic relocation of industries, services, government and other essential economic activities, and to rationalize the requirements for manpower, resources and production facilities;

o the 1950 Defense Production Act, which gives the President sweeping powers over all aspects of the economy;

o the Act of August 29, 1916, which authorizes the Secretary of the Army, in time of war, to take possession of any transportation system for transporting troops, material, or any other purpose related to the emergency; and

o the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, which enables the President to seize the property of a foreign country or national. These powers were transferred to FEMA in a sweeping consolidation in 1979.

Your country was built on the Bill of Rights and all it stood for, your next President should be one that get`s you back on track.

I completely understand! I didn't want to word it in a way that would make people pissed. Do you think your children would be happier if they could get married or happier if they had food on the table? I guess my point is everyone has to weigh the options. What are we willing to give up? What are we willing to accept?

I am SO TORN right now, we have until this evening and I still can't make up my mind!!!

I hate politics... almost as much as I hate organized religions.... but... I'll say this and get it off my chest, and then I'll go away.... LOL

We need to clean house. Get rid of each and every incumbent.... make laws so no one stays in office more than one consecutive term... Dump the Electoral College and let the people's votes speak.

We were in one hell of a mess when Obama got elected and we're still in a mess. I'm thinking the only reason he got elected in the first place was out of desperate hope for change. There hasn't been any change. Even those of us still working see our paychecks buying less and less... Bread I paid $1.25 for 2 or 3 years ago is now $2.65 a loaf. Now I buy the cheap store brand. And that's only one example. We have the same money coming in, but our standard of living has changed.

One man in Washington (particularly the President) cannot make any significant changes. It all comes back to our congressmen and representatives -- and there are too many of them that have been sitting fat, dumb, and happy doing absolutely nothing for the people they are supposed to be working for. They don't remember (or never even knew) what it's like to scrape from paycheck to paycheck just to buy groceries and pay the power bill.

Do I think Romney can do it? I doubt it. He reminds me too much of a sweaty palmed preacher who pretends to be good, but who has his hand in everybody's pocket, and in truth has a wicked heart.

So for me.... 'None of the above' would be my preferred choice.... LOL

One doesn't have to be American to have an opinion about American politics.

It's like saying you're not entitled to say that a casino is rogue if you haven't played there.

Your opinion is as valid as his.

Anyone with a vested interest in world politics keeps a keen eye on the American government, especially if you`re from a UN based country or part of the commonwealth, but nowhere near the amount of interest shown towards them as the last three countries not to have a Rothschild owned central banking system lol .

I said none of those things, YOU DID. Don't try and start something where there is nothing to start.

The ONLY thing I said was he wasn't an American. Don't put words in my mouth.

I was being "cheeky" hence the "tongue smilie", and I'm sure he knew that.

Oh and p.s. what did it take you a week before you got on my ass again? Your slipping.

Time for a game, here is a list of countries that America has bombed since WWII........

China 1945-46

Korea 1950-53

China 1950-53

Guatemala 1954

Indonesia 1958

Cuba 1959-60

Guatemala 1960

Belgian Congo 1964

Guatemala 1964

Dominican Republic 1965-66

Peru 1965

Laos 1964-73

Vietnam 1961-73

Cambodia 1969-70

Guatemala 1967-69

Lebanon 1982-84

Grenada 1983-84

Libya 1986

El Salvador 1981-92

Nicaragua 1981-90

Iran 1987-88

Libya 1989

Panama 1989-90

Iraq 1991

Kuwait 1991

Somalia 1992-94

Bosnia 1995

Iran 1998

Sudan 1998

Afghanistan 1998

Yugoslavia – Serbia 1999

Afghanistan 2001

Libya 2011

Cross reference the date of hostilities and see if the country being bombed had a Rothschild owned central banking system pre-bombing, if not, did it have one after hostilities ended, during hostilities, not at all, was this country attacked again?, if so, repeat the former, if not again, are the countries that haven`t succumbed to the bullying still the centre of attention?.

How much money do the respective governments owe their central banks?.

Two Presidents stood up against the Federal Reserve Bank, one issued - Executive Order 11110, which was signed with the authority to basically strip the Federal Reserve Bank of its power to loan money to the United States Federal Government at interest, who were they?.

Also just for fun, how many ex and current Presidents have won the Noble Peace prize, even though there were hostile conflicts through their terms of office?.

Once you have joined the dots you will see why people like me have a vested interest in your governments :eek2:.

Monies owed to their central banks, America`s debt to the FRB at this moment in time is.............................

$16,216,742,524,238 dollars,and 38 cents.

You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

Presidents that have won the Noble Peace Prize are........................

1. Theodore Roosevelt (1905)
2. Woodrow Wilson (1919)
3. Jimmy Carter, Jr. (2002)
4. Barack Obama (2009)

The two Presidents that opposed the FRB and tried to and actually did print money without the words Federal Reserve Bank on it were.....

1. Abraham Lincoln.
2. J.F.K.

Some bizarre coincidences relating to them...................................

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

The names Lincoln and Kennedy each contain seven letters.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.

Both of their wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.

Both were shot in the head.

Both were shot with one bullet.

Both were rumoured to be killed in a conspiracy. Neither was confirmed to be a conspiracy.

Lincoln was shot in the Ford Theatre.
Kennedy was shot in a car made by the Ford Motor Company (a Lincoln no less)

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.

Both were succeeded by Southerners.

Both successors were named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

Their first names both contain six letters.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.

Both names comprise fifteen letters.

Booth ran from the theatre and was caught in a warehouse.
Oswald ran from a warehouse and was caught in a theatre.

Both assassins were assassinated before their trials.

The only complete filming of Kennedy's assassination was shot by Abraham Zapruder.
The only complete account of Lincoln's assassination was written by John Zelfindorfer.

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was with friends in Monroe, Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with his friend Marilyn Monroe.

Lincoln's last child, Tad, had his funeral held on July 16, 1871. Later he was exhumed and moved to a different grave site.
Kennedy's son JFK Jr. was lost at sea on July 16, 1999. Later he was found, brought up, and then re-buried at sea.

A few of the above are subject to dispute regarding their authenticity, but overall a majority are correct.

Are marriage equality, equal pay, and reproductive rights as important as the economy? Of course they are. There are economic benefits to marriage. Unequal pay helps hold some people down. And the choice to bring or not bring more children into the world certainly has an effect on the personal as well as the economy as a whole.

We have one side that inherited a mess that four years under ANYONE could not have been completely solved. But things are improving. Slowly. The fact that things are improving at all with such obstructionism from the other side is a freaking miracle.

I would rather eat hamburger and know that my same-sex adult neighbors who've been together for 15 years can legally marry, that my future daughter-in-law and granddaughters will receive equal pay for equal work under the law, and that no professional politician is going to tell me what happens to MY uterus....than eat steak and watch that same couple be denied insurance benefits and hospital visitation, females be denied equal pay on the grounds they don't have a penis, and be forced to give birth to a rapist's child.

Civil rights are economic rights.
