Hi,

I am a daily (cash) player at Intertops Poker. I am not a big spender but I enjoy a poker tournament everyday. Well, I did.

According to the rules set by Intertops Poker, The only allowed language in tournament chat is ENGLISH.

But, daily, players continue to talk in other languages. I have been told those players can lose chat privileges. If so, it hasn't stopped them.

I have spoken up and said something about it when they do it to no avail. And I am not talking about one or two words...... whole conversations.....

I checked the "Igaming reps" list and don't see one listed for this poker/casino site.

I have contacted support and have been told that, yes, English only is to be used in chat.

Short of pulling up a translation website, I have no other recourse. This is a major pain when all I want is a nice poker tournament to play.

A site shouldn't need to babysit their players, but seriously, what other options do I have except finding a new site? (Which is not easy)

Suggestions?

I don't know what you mean by useless.
They have been accredited here for a long time now. Maybe he have only made 14 posts but I guess they don't have so many complaints, or they are solved by pm.
I don't know. I can't judge him since I haven't talked to him.

Well, I clicked on the "latest comment/post" and every other category in their profile and there is nothing.....

To me........... that says it all.

"nothing to see here"
"lets' keep it moving, folks"
"the lights are on, but no one is home"

Plus, yes, they are accredited here........... but under the "Igaming Reps" tab, THERE IS NO ONE LISTED!

The Intertops manager was online today so pm him as he is around even if he doesn't post.

Personally I know it annoys you seeing different languages in chat but is it really that big a deal. Many people dont speak English and I know it says its not allowed but im sure the casino and poker staff have a lot more pressing matters to deal with as they aren't really doing anyone any harm.

True, it COULD be no big deal...... until you open a translation site and find out they are calling you or other players all kinds if nasty names.

I don't treat other players like that and don't expect to be treated that way either.

There are lots of reps who really don't post much but who DO respond to PMs, so it's worth a try. I've never had to contact that particular rep, so I don't know anything about them, but if you send a PM and they don't respond, then send a message to Bryan and let him know. Having a responsive rep is one of the rules of accreditation after all.

I don't know how long chats are stored or whether they even are. Have you got screenshots? It's harder for the casinos to turn a blind eye if you show them evidence, so I'd take some screenshots and send them to support - or if you can get an email address to the rep here. If they have evidence that players are breaking their rules and still do nothing, then you'd have to wonder if they'd turn a blind eye to other rule violations.

Yes, I have talked to support a few times over the years. They want the user names and tell me those players will lose chat privileges.

But, I don't want to play nurse maid to a bunch of babies who can't follow simple rules.

And I don't like being called names just because I called their stupid "all-in" bet on a pair of 4's and beat them.

Anyway.......... I need a new poker site!

(And yes, I just pm'ed the rep)

Huh so they expect that the other players will report anyone who breaks the rules? You should ask them to put you on the payroll! ;)

Seriously though, maybe you'd be better off finding a new site instead, sounds like you've had it up to *HERE* with them anyhow. Good luck whatever you do - and don't forget to let Bryan know if you don't hear from the rep in the next few days.

Well,

I wrote them.

I wouldn't normally "publish the reply but:

""""Hi weesie,

Thank you very much for your kind message.

The language "should" be English. However with the number of Italians outweighing everyone else, we're a bit more lenient.

If you suspect bad language or collusion then please feel free to report it to us and we will take action against the responsible. We then need username, table id, hand id, date and time.

Thank you for your help in advance!

Best regards,
Your Intertops Affiliate Team""""

See, I need to be a tattle tail............

I need a new poker site, and since it is the internet.......... I most likely will not find one that will enforce the "English Rule", IF they have it to begin with.

So they made the rule, they know the rule is being flouted, and there suggestion to you is to police the site yourself, reporting any suspicious activity???? Are they going to pay for your language classes?

Yes, I guess............ it makes it so much more fun! NOT!

Looking for a new site now!

But also it is their loss as far as their two casinos go ......I use to play them also.

Think you are blowing that out of proportion. From the email you can see it is just basically saying tho it says English is only language allowed since they have so many players not having English as the main language it is not a rule they wish to enforce.

The Rep was being nice about it and merely said if you think anyone is cheating or being offensive the let them know and it will get checked out but if its merely just people chatting in a different language then its not something they are bothered about.

Poker is played by players the world over and not all them speak English. Chat should be for anyone to use and to tell customers sorry either speak English or don't use the chat would be wrong if they enforced it. In fact im sure it would be classed as discriminatory.

But i think the point is that they have stated in their rules that english is the only language allowed on chat, and they dont want to enforce this. I think also the OP has a point in that how do they know if theres collusion, how do they know what the other players are chatting about? I personally dont play online poker, but if i was a member at a site I would expect them to abide by their own rules, whether they are sensible or not.

Casinos also have terms about max bet etc but the good ones use their discretion and don't enforce every rule to the exact word. As its a chat we are talking about here then its doing no real harm if people are speaking a different language.

They are hardly using it to cheat as they would get caught to easy and these days people can connect to each other by Skype etc if they wanted to cheat while playing poker online.

As its a poker game against people you don't know from over the world then does it make any difference if you cant understand everything they say. I am sure there have been very few complaints ever made about people chatting to each other in different languages during poker games. In fact a lot of people either disable chat or do not follow it anyway.

Well paul,

if and when you ever play poker on line, I assume you won't mind being called a cunt or whore....... (pardon my language) .....

I mean, if you don't know what they are saying, what does it matter, right?

So what if all the other "Italian" or whatever language using people KNOW and understand that they are calling you that right?

I have been called a lot worse in English. If someone in a chat calls me something in their language then I would never even know. I would hardly go to translator to see if they had just called me something.

Its like when I go to my local shop I would imagine the staff talk about customers. But im hardly going to learn Punjabi to know what im getting called.

Its a chat room with people you don't know and never wil know. So personally I would hardly let a comment in a different language that I don't understand get to me.

Its like all the bingo sites when they are playing free games. People getting abused by others and poor mods trying to keep up. But its all adults and id like to think people these days would not get to worked up about a bad losing stranger calling them some name.

But guess others see things differently.

Ok, so we agree to disagree.

After playing at this site for years, at least 5 years, on a day to day basis....... every single day..... I guess I had hoped for just a little decorum in chat.

So, I am done .......

If you are called names weesie , in whatever language, take it for the compliment it is for having beaten them.

I know you can't use MG, but I do play mutiplayer rooms for slots, where the language is English. They have a chat bot that pipes up English only if someone just says "aloha" when they enter the room. I got booted one night for a very brief conversation in French, and brief I mean one phrase.

So technology exists, but the casino chooses not to enforce the rule.

If you experience other than that is good, I would stick around, but explore your other options for sure.

Even in English, cheaters would usually keep it out of chat and use messaging or telephone to collude.

Looks pretty useless! ... Good rep they got there!

If you look around I think you'll find that reps treat their forum accounts quite differently than most forum members. It's quite common for them to be in "listening mode" only and handling any related issues offline. The end result is that it may look like no one is home but that's not necessarily a valid assumption.

Our advice, and what we do ourselves, is to just contact them when we need to, regardless of how their account might appear. The responsiveness is what counts, not their actual forum footprint.
