Hi everyone . I need your opinions for my friend case as she's in trouble with the verification progress when play at Slotsmillion casino .

Things begin when I saw Slotsmillion casino a week ago on the forum . Impressed by their 100% bonus and free spins promotion , I deposited about 100e , but don't have luck and left with about 30e . Despite the bad luck , I had some good playtime there , that's why I recommended it to one of my friend .

My friend deposited 25e on Slotsmillion ,after some up and down ,she decided to call it a day and made a withdraw of 35e . Email from the casino ask for the docs , so she sent her ID ,bank statement and proof of deposit to verify her account .

Few days later , she found the email of the casino in her spam box , which ask for more docs . They ask for two things : an utilities bill with her name and her address on it ( which already shows on her bank statement) and a photo of her holding her ID ? :eek2:

She replied to them , said that she doesn't want to send these docs as she used her current docs to verify her account at other casinos without problem and also because of the weird request . The casino then ask her to send her parents photo holding their ID , which she refused .

Tired because of the complicated of the verification progress , she asked the casino to remove her winning and refund her deposit amount , but the casino says they couldn't do that

In my case , I deposited , play and lose , withdraw the remaining cash without the need of the KYC .
In my friend case , she won about 10 bucks , and couldn't leave with her credits ? :eek2:

What do you think about this ? Is the casino right to hold my friend credits ? I don't know what to do now at I was the one who recommended the casino to her :(

I just went through verification process in Slotsmillion so here are my thoughts:

I too found it weird that they asked for a photo of me holding my ID but once I complied the process was painless and my withdrawal was in my webwallet in a few hours. You can also check out the rep explaining why they asked for such a document here: https://www.casinomeister.com/forums/threads/my-experience-at-slotsmillion-casino.66364/

Asking for the utilities bill on the other hand (in order to verify ones address) is very much a standard practise in my experience.

No idea about the casino asking her to send her parents photos holding their ID - that one again sounds strange to me. I'd ask luckysox the Slotsmillion rep - I'm sure he can shed some light as to why they are asking for such photos.

This is not a request based on KYC but one based on preventing fraud. Casinos are, together with travel, the most targeted busineses for fraudsters.

Of course this might feel uncomfortable for us punters to give out certain documents but I believe it is also a lot of extra work for the casinos and, like in this case, badwill and a lost customer.

Maybe SlotsMillion however can be a little more flexibel when it comes to a smaller amount like in this case.

My friend doesn't have any utilities bill with her name and address on it because she is not the householder , that's why she use her bank statements as proof of address .

Of course the casino has their reasons to ask for the photo things to increase security , but my friend said she doesn't want to do that just for some bucks :D .

Btw ,am I wrong to think that the players has the right to withdraw his/her deposit amount less the winning/losing credits in most cases ?

The bank statements are just as good.

The problem is your friend being awkward about the photo. The document has already been sent, so there is no further "privacy" to worry about by taking a photo and sending it in. This reluctance alone will be interpreted as a sign of something to hide, and unlike a notarised document request, this will cost your friend absolutely nothing. Your friend has YOU, and you clearly know about the gambling, so there is no need to involve the parents if YOU take the photo for her to send off.

If your friend continues to play online, it is likely that this type of request will come along again, and the bigger the withdrawal, the more likely such requests become.

To be blunt, sorry but yes you are wrong. I'd suggest your friend carefully re-read the terms they agreed to when registering.

The 'parents photo' is a new one on me though... are you sure you have that fact right? Either way, if your friend wants to withdraw, I suggest she comply as suomikala87 did.

My friend just told me that the casino do not accept the bank statements as proof of address and request for utility bill under her parents name with their ID copy ( yes , this had to involve her parents  ), plus the photo of her holding her ID . That's too complicated IMO for just some bucks :eek2:

Oh ,I'm sorry .The casino request the utility bill and ID copy of her parents but not the photo of them holding the ID :p

About the terms , I myself only look at the bonus terms as I don't have trouble verify at other casinos so far .But after this I think I'll have to read carefully these terms when register to a new casino . I just check Slotsmillion terms and couldn't find the photo-holding-ID terms :notworthy

That's BS really, the bills and ID of someone else are nothing to do with KYC, and usually this is something that casinos will NOT accept. They are also breaking privacy rules, maybe not in your country, but certainly over here, by demanding a third party not related to the contract parts with their personal data. Bank statements in your friend's name are the best proof of address. A fraudster could just pay anyone to claim to be their parents and thus prove an address is valid, it wouldn't prove that the fraudster lived there, only that those that were paid off do.

Meeting this rather bizarre requirement STILL leaves the casino lacking proof that your friend lives at the address, and also does not provide proof of a blood relationship between the utility bill holder and the player.

Is there something about banks in Vietnam that makes an address on a bank statement useless as proof of address? Over here, it works because the banks have to do KYC to prevent money laundering, whereas a utility company doesn't care about who pays the bill, so long as it gets paid.

Your friend should consider signing up here and submitting a PAB. No need to become an active posting member for this.

I don't think so , as I and my friend used our bank statements to verify at several casino (mostly accredited on casinomeister) with no problems. The thing that made my friend uncomfortable is why other casinos accept it , but Slotsmillion doesn't ? Why do they ask for the photo-holding-ID thing , while other casinos don't ? :eek2:

I don't think my friend will do the PAB thing , as it look a bit complicated and surely takes time to make progress . It's just some bucks so it's not hurt too much to lose .Of course the bad feeling still there , but it will go away soon , especially when she is enjoying some great promotions and services at betat

This is an easy alternative to asking for "Notarised documents", and this too used to be very rare. Both are now more common.

I may be partly to blame because I remember replying to a thread about players being asked for expensive notarised documents, and suggested the possible alternative of replicating the "in person" validation of ID at the casinos' end by having the player send in a photo of themselves and their document together in the same photo. This can save the player considerable sums of money as well as the inconvenience.

The weird bit here is not the photo of holding ID, but the insistence of doing KYC on the PARENTS, rather than the player. It seems that the real problem here is that the casino are NOT actually trying to validate your friend, which they could do with the bank statement, but want to validate your friend's parents, which can ONLY be done by having the parents send in their ID along with their utility bill. This is something of a first, and also very odd given the trivial amount involved.

It's not just the "few bucks" at stake though, your friend needs to get to the bottom of what caused this in the first place otherwise the problem could strike again, and next time it might not just be "a few bucks", but a big win. It seems likely that there is "adverse intelligence" being shared about your friend, and some casinos are picking up on this data because they are part of that particular intelligence sharing group, whereas others are sharing via a different means, and your friend has not been flagged there (yet).

One major problem for the industry is "chargeback fraud", and if they have suspicions that your friend might be involved, perhaps through an intelligence flag on a database, they will be VERY thorough, even for "a few bucks".

If someone give you headache - choose other operator. Every player give them money, and THEY SHOULD care if this easy for you to verify your account or not. Lot of accredited guys here will be happy accept any player, help with verification, and do it within minutes.
Slotsmillion? Well, somewhere here i saw a post by their rep, that asking a player photo with ID is normal for industry. It is not normal? Where, at RTG rogue casinos? Even if player create 3 accounts in same casino - he still playing -EV games, and earn casino money. if we will continue listen them like 'don't worry, asking all possible your documents is ok' - they will ask. No problem for them.
Scan of ID + utility bill(bank statement) if no credit card used is more than ok. Stop threat players like idiots, it is players move this billions $ industry.
