A slot with expanding symbols and Scatters

We have a slot called "Luxor Valley", where players are given 10 free spins for 3 or more Scatters appeared anywhere on the reels, and random symbol will be selected as expanding symbol for the free spins (it takes 3 positions on the reels, like expanding Wild in Rival's "Scary Rich").

During the bonus game if 3 or more Scatters appeared - 10 more free spins added. But during free spins can be a situation, when expanding symbol and Scatter are on the same reel, so the Scatter is covered and disappeared. So, if player got 3 more Scatters (+10 free spins), and one of Scatters and expanding symbols are on the same reel - player will not get 10 more free spins and only get 2xbet added to their wins, because Scatter will be covered by expanding symbol.

Personally I don't think it's OK, but it's a weekend now, so I would like to hear your opinions before passing my thoughts to our management and dev. team :)

I was thinking about adding 10 free spins and THEN expanding symbol covering the reel, but open for discussion :)

Thanks!

Yep, scatters should pay (including a feature re-trigger) before the wild expands and pays on winlines.

I can't think of any specific slots off hand, but I know I've played slots that pay that way (scatters pay first) during free spins.

Actually i think it's important to see if - and how - it would affect the (expected) RTP on that slot.

Personally i always like retriggers. It adds an extra sensation to the game if you can hit a retrigger in a feature.

Is it a low/medium/high variance slot?

Yes, you are right, Repro. We have to calculate how it will affect RTP, but I will do my best to change gameplay :)

add: I would say it'a a Medium Variance slot.

Just how LOTR works - you get retrigger and THEN one of the reels with the ring can go wild.....

Yes. It's happened to me many times, and is great when it does. Would be gutted if the ring(s) was/were swallowed up by wilds, regardless of how much the actual win was.

I'd be more concerned that you had to actually point this stuff out to your design team in the first place, in addition to the several other questions you've been asking for advice about on the forums.

All of the stuff you ask about should have been investigated and decided upon well before you went live. It doesn't paint your operation as very professional IMO.

I would also hope that you asked Bryan if he minded you using his forums to help setup your business.

Nothing personal Viktar just an observation about your casino.

I raised a question and sent email to our dev. team about this. I also can't see nothing bad if casino operator asks players how to make their games better for them. Most of slots were developed without me being involved as player.

I would also hope that you asked Bryan if he minded you using his forums to help setup your business.

I think saying that we "setup business" using CM forum is not right, since our casino is up and running since February. All I can agree with is "improvement". But wasn't Casinomeister site also "set up" for this? To make casinos better and keep them improving? Can't see anything bad if we asked players' opinions about how to make it better. Nothing personal, Nifty, but I think you are trying to find a problem where there is no problem at all.

And more: I think if I was asking too much, or was like P.I.T.A. - Bryan or Max would take appropriate actions. You know they are pretty fast with that.

Regards,
Viktar.

I just expressed my opinion that you may be taking liberties. It wasn't personal, but you seem to have taken it that way.

Starting many threads 'asking questions' is also an excellent method of free advertising.

Personally, I would be loathe to deposit to a casino that asks forum members what they should do with x player in x situation, or how much they should pay those who promote them. It really looks like nobody has a clue what they're doing. I know for a fact I'm not the only person who gets that impression, but its up to you how you use the feedback.

I've said my piece so carry on.

Apologies for the slight derail.

Actually i think Bryan would be happy to see reps asking players for opinions. This way you can do everything that's possible to keep players satisfied.
I feel there's no better place to do this than here!

Of course, if i'm wrong, Bryan can just let Viktar know. Just my opinion!

Fair point IMO. Plus I'd say SlotMonster has been a CM user and contributor long enough to earn a little slack. Of course, there are limits but so far I don't see an issue personally.

I'm struggling to see how a slot with these features could be anything but high variance - unless some of the "expanding" symbols are removed from the reel OR the expanding symbol is only ever a high-pay symbol and lands infrequently.

The nature of expanding symbols and wilds usually means you can't afford to give away too many decent wins in "normal" play or the slot would make a loss.

Thanks, Simmo.

Sorry if I'm bothering or disturbing you with my questions. I'm glad I got the chance to tell casino operator what players want and how things should be done. I also understand that I'm not a gambling guru, and there may be different opinions, which are better than mine. If I started doing it too zealously - I'm sorry for that, and will slow down

But, as I said before, I'm not talking about "OMG, what (or how) should we do??? :eek2:", but I'm talking about "We can do it this way, or that way. How it would be better for players?" Pretty different questions, don't you think so?

Anyway, thank you for your replies. We will discuss it and maybe the feature will be changed.

Well, expanding symbol is selected randomly and doesn't substitute all other symbols. As someone has said - it's like online version of "Book of Ra" slot.

attractive it would be catch the symbol (expanding scatter...king , queen or the highest paying symbol:lolup: ) by myself !!!

after 10 seconds if no selection is made the symbol chosen by the RNG :D

or supposing i get 3 bonusscatters = 5freespins ....4 scatters = 10 .. 5 scatters = 15

and eventually a rare or very rare:D mystery bonus game

Sorry for bringing this thread up, but lets make list of slots with expending symbols/scatters:

SCATTERED SYMBOLS
Book af Ra (Novomatic) - and all the sequels
Book of Dead (Play'n'Go)
Aztec Idols (Play'n'Go)

CONNECTED (left to right)
Ariana (Microgaming)
Pretty Kitty (Microgaming)
Copy Cats (Netent)
