Thread: VEGAS JOKER GIVES OUT YOUR ACCOUNT DETAILS!

    I HAD LEFT 550.00+ IN MY ACCOUNT AT VEGAS JOKER CASINO.

    I LOGGED IN TO FIND 0.00! AFTER LOOKING INTO WHAT HAD HAPPENED,I FIND MY DAUGHTER AND A FRIEND WAS ABLE TO CALL THERE SUPPORT,GET MY ACCOUNT INFO AND THEY EVEN OFFERED TO CHANGE MY PASSWORD SO SHE COULD RE-SET IT! THEY ONLY ASKED HER FOR NAME,ADD,B-DAY AND PHONE NUMBER! OF COARSE SHE WOULD KNOW THEESE THINGS!

    THEY GAVE THIS OVER THE PHONE TO HER! HAD THEY E-MAILED IT, SHE WOULDNT OF GOT THE INFO TO MY ACCOUNT AND PLAYED THROUGH MY CREDITS!

    VEGAS JOKER SAYS THEY DID NOTHING WRONG, AND REFUSE TO GIVE MY CREDITS BACK! THEY GAVE OUT MY INFO OVER THE PHONE! I ONLY WANT MY CREDITS THAT WERE THERE THAT I LEFT.

    I FEEL I AM IN THE RIGHT HERE. I HAVE PLAYED HERE SEVERAL TIMES AND MADE SEVERAL DEPOSITS HERE.

    SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME.......

    Ouch.

    The first thing you need to do is restrict access to the computer.

    The second thing is that you need to be able to document this - with some sort of verification that the casino support did in fact give your daughter and friend information over the phone (which, by the way, is far from normal in any situation).

    The third - assuming you can't do the second - is to make your daughter pay for the credits. If she's old enough, then she should take responsibility.

    Since Videopokerfool has decided to make this public, here is the response from the casino (I've been working on this for a couple of days)

    Dear Bryan,

    Thank you for your recent communication.

    With regards the complaint that Ms x did, we would like to inform
    you that as we already told her, our Terms and Conditions we state that:
    "Players are solely responsible for keeping their account numbers and
    passwords secure and secret. Players are solely responsible for any
    purchases and/or losses that may occur on Player's account."

    We would like to stress the fact that our helpdesk prodeced correctly
    when they asked her personal information by the phone and, once she
    replied all our questions appropiately, giving her account number.

    On the phone conversation that Ms x or her daughter had with our
    helpdesk, she stated that she needed the account number since she forgot
    it. Our helpdesk didn't have any reason to doubt about her identity of
    the caller since:

    She and other members of her family already had accounts opened in our
    casino and none of them had played with us for a while, so it was
    comprehensible to think that she really forgot the account number and
    password and that she was asking for her own account.

    Please note that their accounts are by the name of:

    Ms. x
    Miss x (daugther)
    Mr. X (husband)

    Since there were 3 accounts opened in our casino and she contacted us on
    the same day in which Ms X did a Western Union of $150, how did her
    daughter now in which account she'd find the money? Please note that
    both Mrs. X and Miss x's accounts had their balance $0, and that
    she had to purchase in order to play, so why didn't she ask for the own
    account number or even Mr. X's?

    The last time Ms x played in our casino was on the 29th Dec
    2002. Then the same day she decides to purchase and play again her
    daughter (who didn't play in her own account since the 1st of December)
    also decides to play and this time with her mother's account.

    According to one email that Miss X sent to our casino when she
    opened her account, it was her mother the one who refered her to our
    casino. Both Miss X and Mr. X admited by email that they
    were playing in our casino using the same computer. So it is surprising
    that someone that encourages her daughter to play in a casino, takes her
    account number from her computer in order to prevent the access of this
    one, but then chooses a password easy enough for her daughter to guess
    it.

    Please note that even though we understand the frustation of a mother
    seeing that her daughter plays in a casino with her money, we would like
    to stress that it's entirely her responsibility to maintain her password
    secret.

    Once again we would like to inform you that the casino can't be
    considered responsible for these events.

    First thing, My daughter does have her own account but the sticky point here is that she knew I was playing here. My point is simply that they gave my info out via phone. I would have no complaint what so ever if this was done via e-mail. if this was the case, I would take total responsibilty to the lost credits.

    Second thing is that I did have my account # and was playing for a couple hours before I left for the day. I KNEW MY ACCOUNT # and deleted both password and account # to protect it. So I had in fact played after DEC like they say I last did.

    I know to keep this info in a safe place, she did guess my password but I was told the casino would gladly reset it if she could not get in. they told her it could be changed to xxxx and to call them back.

    I did e-mail the casino telling them not to give out any information to my account details over the phone.(after this happened)

    This is what I am so upset about. I do like this casino and enjoy playing here. It all comes down to the giving out info via phone and not the e-mail that is also password protected.

    I even offered if they replenish my credits, I would wager them as a bonus to their terms and conditions.

    I dissagree with them about this. I feel that giving account information over the phone is not a good idea since you dont really know who it is.

    I am willing to meet the casino half way with this. Like I said, I do like this casino and wish we could work this out.

    I think you will not get much encouragement. Under most circumstances, casinos limit players to ONE per household. You have three and they made special provision for that.

    Your daughter is responsible. Not the casino. Make her pay. Or else do not allow her to have access to the computer.

    As sorry as I am to say that, the casino did not offer the password but the account number, and I cannot see how they can be held responsible.

    I respect your opinion. The casino did offer to re-set the password for her if she wasnt able to get in. Correct me if I am wrong but what is the difference to giving her the pass word or resetting it so she still can gain access? They still offered both. Again,I am stuck on the over the phone and not e-mailing the information. Had that been the case, I would take FULL responsibilty for this.

    Like I said before, I do like this casino and I just do not agree with the decision they made about this.

    Oh boy, videopokerfool, I know you aren't going to like this either, but you should go after your daughter. She is the one who needs to accept responsibility for this.

    If your daughter is bold enough to break into your casino account, chances are she has helped herself to other things as well.

    I am a BIG believer in personal responsibility. If I were the casino I would agree to your terms, after you filed fraud and theft charges against your daughter and she was convicted.

    Quite obviously what she did was a crime. There was a criminal act and a victim. Currently that victim is you; you want to transfer that to the casino.

    Do you believe that thieves and scam artists should go to jail? I do, because they make life more miserable for honest people like me.

    You seem like an honest person just trying to make you way through life like the rest of us honest hard-working people. Send that conniving thief to jail before she steals from me.

    If you ask me, resetting it would have required that the password be emailed to the account on record. So the only way she could have gotten that was to know your email password as well, unless you have it stored.

    I agree with BigHawk, though I wouldn't go so far as to call your daughter a thief and scam artist - just irresponsible.

    Tough lesson to learn, for both of you. I hope that you understand this - and that this is only my personal opinion.

    I respect both your opinions.

    I guess that I blame both here. The casino offered to change the password over the phone,not e-mail it.

    I have learned a very hard lesson here. Dont trust teens! I have locked up my whole PC now and no-one can use it but me.

    If your daughter is a "teen", what is she doing gambling? I would think studying should be more of a priority. I don't understand how parents allow their teenagers to gamble...let's face it, gambling is not one of the most productive ways to teach a teenager responsibility. Additionally, I think your daughter may have a gambling problem. Anyone who would steal from their mother is suffering from some sort of emotional trouble.
