Hi all!!

To kick off this "live dealer - live casino" forum Neil has generously written an awesome article that covers many aspects of live casinos. For further reading - check out his article on live casinos.

In my opinion, live casinos have made leaps and bounds in improvements over the past few years. I'm really looking forward to these sections of the forum being populated with informative and intriguing posts concerning live dealers and casinos.

Very informative piece that shows how far live games have come in the last few years and how accessible they now are.

Always thought of them as a gimmick before but they have now become a viable option and seem very capable of delivering an authentic experience. I think the regional differences are a great touch also.

Would love to get more into that side of gambling and put slots on a hiatus. At least with live games there's some form of decision-making and having been a croupier I fancy my odds more than with slots!

Only downside to live games in my brief foray was the bankroll needed to eke out just a few hands, this could hamper my gambling budget somewhat

I know exactly what you mean about the bankroll. The rule I usually use to play Blackjack is I can normally have a good session if my initial bankroll covers 10 bets. I can usually turn this over quite a few times and have sessions that last a couple of hours, until I either bust out or have made my walk away profit.

Ultimate Texas holdem and 3 card poker are more volatile and can whip through a bankroll quite quickly unless you hit some hands early on.

When I play Baccarat and Roulette I play only the evens bets (a bit boring i know) but i can normally manage to keep playing for a long time. I know i'll never win big playing that way, I just get enjoyment from playing.

On the flip side I've recently started playing slots and find that my balance is wiped out a lot sooner than playing table games. I find it difficult to play for 0.30 a spin regardless of the size of my bankroll - perhaps that's my problem!

I do adjust my betsize accordingly on slots, but remember a simpler time when I stuck to one bet and played it to its conclusion. Perhaps playing in excess of four+ years has made my approach too muddled! But rest assured if I had a decent balance I would bet higher for sure

In regards to your expertise on live games and knowledge on the subject, you mentioned Blackjack in your opening paragraph. What would you consider a decent walk-away profit from an average session?

Now there's a question. A lot has to do with how I'm feeling when I play. Sometimes I'm just after a good game and any profit I make is a bonus, but I'm not too worried if I bust out as long as I've had a enjoyable session.

If I'm in the mood and the cards are being kind then I'll walk away or take a break if I'm 150% up. I generally bet 10% of my initial bankroll per hand so it can take a while to build up to that level. I double some of my bets when I'm in profit so that can accelerate things either way.

I've walked away with much bigger profits from sessions where nothing seems to go wrong and everything works as it should. Those however are rare and I'm more likely to lose or break even. Breaking even is sometimes as good as a win and I take that sometimes if I had a good session.

BJ is my preferred game as I like games that have a defined strategy that you can follow. I then go off-piste occasionally (some call that advanced strategy) lol.
