Hi CasinoMeister,

At the moment I'm kinda face with a David and Goliath situation which annoy me a lot and I'm looking for help. One night i got very drunk and i decided to have fun on godaddy and I bought a domain name which for now I'll keep silent but its goes something like this ?????casinos.com the domain is currently empty and has no advertisement on it and I don't intend to put any either. I just bought it for fun and to see what would happen, in the hope to perhaps sell it for a better price once the company realised they had forgotten to buy the plural of their brand.

Today I got a threaten email by a company hired by the brand in question treating to sue me. even if I bought a domain that was completely available. In my opinion is pretty stupid and they are offering me a meagre $35 for a domain name I have bought.

What is the best course of action.

Hand over the domain. It's domain squatting, and is a pretty serious deal. If you infringe on someone's intellectual property they have every right to protect their IP and take aggressive action. I deal with this constantly and it's a pain in the ass.

It doesn't make a difference whether or not a domain is available. If a company owns a trademark, or the rights to a name, then anything that is similar to that name is fair game for them to protect. Believe me, I have had to deal with a number of a-holes who were grabbing names like casinomeisters.com, internet-casinomeister.com, casino-meister.info etc.

Yep, and there are plenty of legal precedents regarding this in both the UK, EU and USA and all favoured the business. Dump the domain.

P.S. Bryan, have you sent me that Paypal for $30,000 yet for casinomeister.biz I bought last night for £9?? :D
