Zodiacu Casino Review

New Scandinavia focused Every Matrix's brand

By Casinomeister, Last updated Dec 17, 2023

Casinomeister's Verdict

Zodiacu Casino was an Every Matrix white-label casino that was primarily focused on the Scandinavian market. They were licensed in both Curacao (Antillephone) and by the Malta Gaming Authority.

Their gaming portfolio included Microgaming, Netent, Mr. Slotty, Endorphina, Betsoft, Quickspin, Habanero, Play’n Go, Wazdan, and Playson.

Our Meister Minions have not yet tested their payout times, but we didn’t receive any significant complaints in our forum. The online casino kept a low profile and hadn’t generated any player issues.

Despite being shut down, some online casino review sites claim the site is still running. As a result, we feel it’s fair to write this review – so you know it’s simply not possible to play here any longer! Check out our current list of operating casinos

First Impression

Zodiacu Casino (not to be confused with Zodiac Casino, which is still in operation) was a site running on the EveryMatrix platform. That was already a pretty good sign for us – and the brand powered several well-known online casinos, including Genesis Casino and Play Frank. However, Zodiacu Casino had a very unique concept – and the idea behind the casino was that your star sign and horoscope would play a role in your experience at the site.

For example, once you’d registered an account (entering your date of birth in the process), little messages would pop up from time to time, telling you your horoscope – and, sometimes, recommending specific casino games. Sure, it wasn’t for everyone – but it was unique; we have to give it that!

Zodiacu Casino offered many games, including live, video poker, table games, and more. Game developers included Betsoft, iSoftBet, Microgaming, Play’n Go, Playson, Wazdan, Yggdrasil Gaming, Ezugi, and Red Rake Gaming. There was also a live dealer casino that Evolution Gaming powered.

When it came to payment methods, Zodiacu Casino offered the standard options. You could make deposits and withdrawals using Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards, and they also accepted Skrill, Neteller, ecoPayz, and MuchBetter. Withdrawals weren’t always the fastest, but they were reliable enough – provided you’d verified your ID successfully.

Pros

  • New Brand

  • Nice selection of games

Cons

  • No UK license yet

  • Limited support

BONUSES AND PROMOTIONS

Zodiacu Casino ran a variety of bonuses and promotions. However, despite what other casino review websites said, they were not part of the Casino Rewards Group. They didn’t have any connection to the Casino Rewards Group – so if you see this written elsewhere, it’s incorrect.

Below, we’ll show you some of the bonuses and promotions available at Zodiacu Casino at the time of the site’s closure.

Welcome Offer

Zodiacu Casino offered a fairly standard welcome bonus – although it was worth more than what you’ll often see offered at online casinos today. The last time we saw the welcome bonus’ details, it was a 100% matched deposit bonus of up to $1,200. One of the reasons why many players registered a casino account and claimed the welcome bonus was that the wagering requirements were just 30X.

In addition to this first deposit bonus, players could also claim a 50% matched deposit bonus of up to $250 on their second deposit and a 25% matched deposit bonus of up to $350 on their subsequent three deposits. If you like when a casino rewards players, Zodiacu Casino would have been a good pick, as their promotions were generous and frequent.

No-Deposit & Free Spins Offers

There wasn’t a no-deposit bonus at Zodiacu Casino. While some sites claim there was, this is likely a mixup; most of these sites wrote a “Zodiac Casino Review” – they made a mistake and didn’t differentiate their “Zodiac Casino Review” from their “Zodiacu Casino” page. While it’s true that Zodiac Casino offers no-deposit bonuses to some players, Zodiac Casino and Zodiacu Casino were entirely separate entities.

VIP and Loyalty Programs

As noted earlier, Zodiacu Casino was not part of the Casino Rewards Group – despite what many people thought. It’s also not connected to Zodiac Casino Canada – so don’t confuse the two! However, Zodiacu Casino did run a VIP program – and this was a pretty straightforward comp points-based loyalty program.

Any time you played their video slot games, jackpots, or other online casino games, you would earn points. Once you had accumulated enough of these points, you could redeem them for cash bonuses. This is a common promotion in the online gambling world – and it’s something that Zodiac Casino offers, so that could be where some confusion stems.

The online casino experience at Zodiacu Casino was much like that of other online casinos; loyal players could claim regular match bonuses, and casino bonuses were weekly. If popular casino games launched, the site would also run special free spins promotions – and sometimes even match bonuses.

BANKING AND PAYMENT METHODS

EveryMatrix-powered casinos aren’t known for offering the largest selection of payment methods in the world – but they cover the basics, and the minimum deposit tends to be relatively low. At Zodiacu Casino, the minimum deposit was $10 for most payment methods.

The site allowed you to make deposits and withdrawals using all major debit and credit cards and EWallets such as Neteller, Skrill, and Zimpler. For those wanting to make deposits and withdrawals using a direct bank transfer, the site also offered Trustly. However, bonus cash wasn’t available to players using all deposit methods – which was problematic from time to time.

All deposits were processed securely – using 128-Bit SSL Encryption – and the funds were credited to your account immediately. The site didn’t charge any fees, although deposits made using a credit card may have incurred charges sometimes.

Withdrawal Speed

Zodiacu Casino stated that most withdrawal requests were processed within 23 hours – a strange number, if you ask us! However, from what we can tell, it was rare for their finance team to take more than two hours to approve a withdrawal. This meant the site was a viable option for players wanting fast cashouts – a hallmark of today’s best online casino sites.

Responsible gaming

While we can’t access the specific responsible gambling page at Zodiacu Casino anymore, we do know that they offer a wide variety of tools to help protect players. Like most other casinos, you could set up deposit, loss, and wager limits. Time-out and self-exclusion facilities were also available for those who needed a break from gambling.

It’s unclear whether players needed to directly contact the customer support team to implement these responsible gambling tools. From what we know – we think it’s very unlikely that this was the case. Not only is it very rare to see MGA-licensed casinos requiring players to manually reach out to the customer support team to set up responsible gambling limits – it’s just not the style of EveryMatrix.

The EveryMatrix white-label platform has responsible gambling tools built in – we’d say, with near 100% certainty, that all responsible gambling measures were self-managed. This is always something we like to see. For example, many Curacao-licensed casinos require you to email the casino if you want to take a time-out or enter into a self-exclusion agreement. This adds a barrier for players – and it could result in someone continuing to gamble when they want to stop.

Like every licensed casino, if you wanted to decrease your limits, any changes would be actioned instantly. However, if you wanted to increase your limits, you’d need to wait a minimum of 24 hours. If you had previously entered into a self-exclusion agreement, you would also need to take “positive action” to confirm you wanted to reopen your account. This additional layer of protection is designed to let players think about the decision over 24 hours rather than needing to decide on the spot.

Customer support

When Zodiacu Casino was operational, they had a customer support team. However, they didn’t work 24 hours a day, seven days a week – likely a disappointment for some players. Today, it’s very rare to find online casinos not offering support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The team was available between the hours of 9 AM and 9 PM.

If you need help and support during working hours, you can reach the online casino’s customer care team using live chat. This connected you with a friendly operator in just a few seconds. You had to email them outside of these hours if you needed to contact them. Unfortunately, we don’t have any data on response times – but we’d expect the standard 24-48 hour waiting period for email responses.

KYC

As Zodiacu Casino is now offline, we cannot view any information about their KYC processes. However, they did require users to verify their identity – just like if you were to play at Zodiac Casino. We recommend offering your ID documents when joining a new online casino to save time and hassle later down the line.

Website Experience and Features

Desktop and Mobile Gaming

While some players think there’s a Zodiac Casino app – the same could not be said of Zodiacu Casino. Their mobile casino was browser-based only, meaning you needed to load up your internet browser on your mobile device to access their mobile casino. However, from what we can see from player reviews, the mobile-optimized version of the site worked well – and players commented on the fast loading speeds.

Like all online casinos at the time, Zodiacu Casino offered an instant play option; in fact, there was no download client, as some reviews incorrectly stated. It was easy to access the real dealer games, claim bonus money, and withdraw money to your bank account through both the desktop and mobile-optimized versions of the site – and the mobile version even allowed you to track your loyalty program process in real-time!

Brand games

Online Casino Games Provider

A small yet sufficient selection of games was available at the online casino. This included hundreds of video slots, classic slots games, new games, and live dealer games. As noted earlier, they offered games from software providers, including Betsoft, iSoftBet, Microgaming, Play’n Go, Playson, Wazdan, Yggdrasil Gaming, Ezugi, and Red Rake Gaming. Evolution Gaming was responsible for powering the live dealer casino.

Slots

Slot games are always popular – and, like any reputable online casino, Zodiacu Casino offers a wide variety to choose from. Using a snapshot we found on an archived version of the site, we could look back and see what video slots were popular before the site shut down.

These games included 7 Sins, Oily Business; Leprechaun Goes to Hell, Treasure Diver, Tower of Pizza, Goldilocks, Sakura Fortune, Wins of Fortune, Fairy Tale, Jet Setter, Football Superstar, and Mr. Bling.

When new slots were released, Zodiacu Casino often ran free spins promotions, awarding free spins to use on the new releases.

Live Casino Real Dealer Games

Evolution Gaming powered the live dealer casino at Zodiacu Casino. Evolution is the biggest provider of live games in the world. The Malta Gaming Authority licenses them, the UK Gambling Commission – they’ve even recently acquired online gambling licenses to enter the US market!

There were plenty of live dealer games to choose from at Zodiacu Casino. Like at most online casinos, you’d have found everything from Roulette and Blackjack to Baccarat and Dreamcatcher.

Table Games

Zodiacu Casino offers a decent selection of casino table games. While they probably weren’t the best online casino in their game selection, they offered a decent selection of tables, some video poker titles, and instant wins.

Canadian players could win big by making an initial deposit – using bank transfers, debit cards, or even an eCheck deposit – and heading straight to games like Jackpot Deuces, Poker Pursuit, Instant Millionaire, and Deuces Wild video poker. The “safe and fair seal” could always be seen when playing – so Canadian players, along with those from other countries, knew that if they were to deposit money, they’d be safe.

Progressive jackpots

For players who truly wanted to become an instant millionaire, Zodiacu Casino offered a variety of jackpot titles – including the iconic Mega Moolah slot. Mega Moolah is a progressive jackpot game from Microgaming, and it holds the current World Record for awarding the most significant online jackpot win in history.

Zodiacu Casino also offered some progressive table games. However, progressive jackpots were off-limits if you claimed the first deposit bonus. If you came here to read about Zodiac Casino Canada instead, you’d also be pleased to learn that Zodiac Casino offers a great selection of jackpots.

About the Team and History

Zodiacu Casino was launched in 2017; unfortunately, this meant it didn’t last long. It’s not entirely clear why they shut their doors – but it’s possible that the whole “horoscope” theme didn’t catch on. The site ran on the EveryMatrix gambling platform – which powers everything from the casino games and customer support options to bank transfer payouts and match bonus offers – and the Malta Gaming Authority licensed them. They did not hold a UK license, so UK players could not join.

In addition to players from the UK, the casino didn’t accept players from the Netherlands Antilles, Australia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Spain, France, United Kingdom, French Guiana, Hungary, Israel, Isle Of Man, Iran, Islamic Republic Of, Jersey, New Caledonia, Netherlands, French Polynesia, Portugal, Reunion, Romania, French Southern Territories, Turkey, Ukraine, United States Minor Outlying Islands, and the United States. This list of countries was found on Wizard of Odds.

Complaints and Track Record

Zodiacu Casino didn’t generate much forum activity. There was just one thread, which can be found here. In this thread, a Ukraine-based rep called Alex introduced himself – and seemed very pleasant. However, one user, Sapit222, posted the following:

I’m not a member of your casino yet, but I checked the bonus rules quickly.

The following games are excluded from bonus wagering: All Jackpot games, Scrooge, Devil’s Delight, Tower Quest, Pearls of India, Tomb Raider 2, Robin Hood, Vampire: The Masquerade – Las Vegas, Beautiful Bones, Baker’s Treat, Super Nudge 6000, Jackpot 6000, Castle Builder, Castle Builder II, The Wish Master, Blood Suckers, Lights, 300 Shields, Forsaken Kingdom, Untamed Wolf Pack, Untamed Bengal Tiger, Untamed Giant Panda, Stardust, Cool Buck, Sweet Alchemy, Peek-a-Boo, Sea Hunter, Eye of the Kraken or other similar games.

He was curious about what “similar games” meant – and that’s a very valid question. Alex did come back by saying:

It is also notable that no limits applied to wins occur as an outcome of accumulated bonus money but were gained from real money bets. As the welcome bonus in Zodiacu is no-sticky, this scenario becomes possible if you accumulate inner bonus money from bonus wagering, finish your bonus, and then proceed to play with money from a new deposit. I guess not many would share this hint, wouldn’t they?”

While it’s good he attempted to clear things up, it still left confusion in people’s heads. Eager-eyed Sapit222 also noted:

“Once the wagering requirements are met, the maximum amount you can convert from bonus money to a real balance is EUR 3,000 (or 30,000 SEK/NOK). The remaining bonus balance will be automatically deducted from your account after completing the wagering requirements.”

So, while the welcome bonus itself looked generous – it was capped. We never like to see this, and we know that players don’t, either. While it may be OK for players who deposited $20, or maybe $50 – high-rollers will immediately be turned away by this.

However, to be fair, Zodiacu Casino generated zero PAB complaints with us here at Casinomeister. We never heard terrible things about players – and it’s possible that they would have undergone their Baptism by Fire had they stuck around.
