RetroBet Review

Lots of games and plenty of withdrawal options — crypto included

Casinomeister's Verdict

RetroBet is a new casino with lots of strengths: tons of slots, live games, a wide range of payment methods (including several cryptocurrencies), and around-the-clock support. It holds the Antillephone license and is owned by Hollycorn N.V., which is about as reliable as Curaçao-licensed casinos come. There’s also a generous matching offer on the welcome bonus, although it does come with a 50x wagering requirement.

The most prominent issue we encountered with RetroBet is its utter lack of responsible gaming tools, as the casino currently barely meets the minimum requirements on that front. If you’re not put off by that or the licensing jurisdiction, RetroBet is a good place to play.

From the desk of Max Drayman

In 14 years, I think we’ve had one forum issue and one player complaint through our Player Arbitration (PAB) service, which is an exceptional track record for any casino. Now, RetroBet seems to have  changed hands recently, and this would normally warrant some caution. However, it’s operated by the Hollycorn group, and that’s pretty much gold-standard stuff: very few complaints; all player issues handled quickly, fairly and professionally; and we have a long-standing relationship with them. This gives us great confidence that any issue that does arise will be expedited and settled, typically within hours. Players have excellent reason to believe they are in good hands at RetroBet.

First Impression

The “new” RetroBet was launched in 2024, it holds the Antillephone license (8048/JAZ2019-015), and is operated by Hollycorn N.V. The company has a solid portfolio of online casinos, including Rocketspin, Neospin, Bitdreams, and many others.

The site features a great selection of games from 130+ providers, so there’s no lack of variety in slots or live games — game shows, roulette, blackjack, baccarat, and poker (just keep in mind the selection may be more limited based on your region). There’s also a lot of payment methods to choose from, too, including debit/credit cards, Neosurf, Mifinity, paysafecard, Interac, bank transfers, several cryptocurrencies, and more.

Overall, I found the casino easy to navigate, and it’s easy on the eyes with its color scheme of orange and dark shades of blue. The “80s Miami” vibe they have going on is also quite nice, though the art can clutter the pages up from time to time.

Pros

  • Good variety of withdrawals methods (crypto included)

  • Wide selection of slots and live games

  • 24/7 customer support in English and German

Cons

  • Almost no responsible gaming tools

  • Weak jurisdiction

BONUSES AND PROMOTIONS

RetroBet Welcome Bonus

The casino has a generous welcome bonus in the form of four separate deposit bonuses:

  • First deposit: 100% match up to $1000 + 100 free spins
  • Second deposit: 100% match up to $3000 + 100 free spins
  • Third deposit: 50% match up to $5000 + 100 free spins
  • Fourth deposit: 50% match up to $6000 + 200 free spins

This adds up to a potential maximum of $15000 and 500 free spins worth of bonuses, but the downside is they all come with a 50x wagering requirement, which must be met within 7 days. The time limit isn’t too bad if you only plan on depositing smaller amounts, but is far from ideal if you intend to take full advantage of the offer. Meanwhile, the free spins are only valid for one specific game, which varies by region. Be sure to check the RetroBet welcome bonus page for the latest information.

Additionally, RetroBet offers an alternate high roller bonus on your first deposit, if it’s larger than $500. This bonus includes a 150% match up to $10,000 + 10% cashback up to $1000. It’s a better match offer and there’s no wagering requirement for the cashback, so it’s a good alternative to the standard first deposit bonus, if you’re looking to make a bigger deposit.

All in all, these bonuses look great at a glance, but the wagering requirements combined with the time limit make them very unappealing if you actually planned on making larger deposits to take full advantage of the match offer.

No-Deposit & Free Spins Offers

Currently, RetroBet doesn’t offer any no-deposit bonuses, but there are several reload bonuses that include deposit matches and free spins:

  • Monday Reload: 50% match up to $500
  • Tuesday Reload: 100 free spins
  • Wednesday Reload: Up to 170 free spins
  • Friday Reload: Up to 150 free spins
  • Weekend Reload: 25% match up to $500

Like the welcome bonuses, these are subject to a 50x wagering requirement that must be completed within 7 days of the bonus being credited. The minimum deposit is $20 in all cases.

If you’re after free spins, Tuesday offers the best value for your money, as you can get 100 spins with only the minimum deposit amount. Wednesday scales with your deposit while Friday scales with the number of times you used the Friday bonus, so they’re not quite as good.

Apart from that, there’s also a daily cashback bonus that ranges from 3% to 15% depending on the deposit amount. This bonus comes with a 5x wagering requirement that must be completed in 7 days, so it’s nothing to write home about.

VIP and Loyalty Programs

RetroBet has a fleshed-out and transparent loyalty program, and the way it works is simple: for every $5 you place in bets in any slot game, your account is awarded 1 complimentary point (CP for short). As you accumulate CPs, you also level up and gain new benefits with each level — starting with free spins, but eventually unlocking cash rewards, cashback, and increased withdrawal limits.

The loyalty program is a bit of a mixed bag overall. On the one hand, earning CPs is cheaper than many other casinos, so reaping the lower-level benefits is easier. On the other, the cost of leveling up increases significantly as you move up the ladder. For reference, getting from level 8 to 9 costs $5000 worth of CPs, getting from 9 to 10 costs $7500, 10 to 11 is $10,000. You get the picture. Obviously, this also adds up to significant overall investments, especially at higher levels.

Ultimately, I liked that RetroBet is so transparent with their loyalty program and that it offers decent benefits to returning players. However, the high-level benefits simply don’t offer value as good as what you can usually get with the best-rated online casinos.

Banking & Payment Methods

When it comes to payment methods, the situation is looking good. RetroBet offers a number of deposits and withdrawal methods for both fiat currencies and cryptocurrencies, though not all of them are available in every region.

For fiat currencies, options include:

  • VISA and Mastercard debit and credit cards,
  • Bank transfer,
  • Interac,
  • Neosurf,
  • Mifinity,
  • paysafecard,
  • Skrill,
  • Neteller,
  • eZeeWallet,
  • Jeton, and
  • Postepay.

For cryptocurrencies, you can use:

  • Bitcoin,
  • Bitcoin Cash,
  • Ethereum,
  • Litecoin,
  • Tether, and
  • Dogecoin.

This is a good selection of cryptocurrencies, and is about as good as what you can find in most crypto casinos.

The minimum deposit limits are both $20 for fiat currencies, and the limits for cryptocurrencies are set in that cryptocurrency, so they range roughly from $0.10 to $60 at the time of writing. RetroBet doesn’t take any fees or commissions, but the fine print does mention they can charge a processing fee if the sum of placed bets is lower than 3x the last deposited amount.

The casino also has a weekly and a monthly withdrawal limit — $5000 and $20,000, respectively. These aren’t the best limits out there, but they shouldn’t pose a problem for most players.

All in all, it’s a good selection of payment methods, even if RetroBet doesn’t count among the online casinos that accept PayPal, so I only have good things to say on this front.

RetroBet Withdrawal Speed

Most of the withdrawal methods on RetroBet are instant. The only exceptions are debit/credit cards and bank transfers, which can take from 3 to 7 days to process.

Apart from that, some e-Wallets might take up to a day to process withdrawals on their end, and RetroBet may hold onto your funds for up to 72 hours if they have to verify your account. Apart from that, it’s all smooth sailing.

Responsible Gaming

There isn’t much to say about RetroBet’s responsible gaming tools, mainly because there basically are none. Their responsible gaming page links to external resources that can help users gamble responsibly, but the casino itself presents no responsible gaming features of its own.

Technically, it’s possible to self-exclude by contacting support, as required by the Curaçao license. However, the casino makes no effort to communicate this option to players, and it’s doubtful they’ll introduce any advanced responsible gaming features down the line.

Unless their approach changes in the future, I wouldn’t recommend RetroBet to anyone who has previously struggled with gambling addiction or, like myself, loses track of time and/or losses easily.

Customer support at RetroBet

When it comes to customer support, RetroBet fares quite well. You can contact support via email or via 24/7 live chat, which is available in both English and German.

The response times were usually near-instant, but I also had to do some waiting during peak hours, sometimes as long as 20 minutes. This doesn’t seem to be the norm, though, and support agents were always very thorough and helpful with any questions I had. So, even if the wait times were a regular issue, I’d still give them a thumbs up. Quality over speed any day.

The live chat function also features a bot that can give you a wide range of information covering different facets of the casino’s operation — from details on bonuses to account verification.

KYC

RetroBet doesn’t specify when their KYC procedure starts, but they clearly outline their requirements. Players are required to provide basic documentation to verify their identity: ID cards, passports, proof of residency, or bank statements. Additionally, RetroBet reserves the right to contact you via phone or email for additional verification within 2 weeks of your first withdrawal request.

You can register and start playing with zero hassle, and the procedure will likely start when you make your first withdrawal request. Since the casino is registered in Curaçao, there’s a chance you might get by without verification, but it’s always recommended to have the necessary documentation on hand. Just so you don’t end up stuck in the process for days while the casino holds onto your winnings.

If you want to take care of the KYC procedure ahead of time, you can simply submit all the required documents on your account’s verification page.

RetroBet Casino Experience and Features

From a design standpoint, the website mostly features darker shades of blue combined with orange highlights, which is quite easy on the eyes and helps important elements stick out. Personally, I’m a fan of the Miami Vice vibe RetroBet is going for, but I felt like the touched-up AI-generated art often added unnecessary visual clutter.

Finding what you need is easy, as everything is sorted in the sidebar on the left. The home page gives quick insight into different categories of games and bonuses, and you can also quickly find information on ongoing tournaments, lotteries, the VIP program, and other events the casino may organize.

Finally, like most casinos, RetroBet doesn’t actually have a mobile app but lets you make a browser shortcut on your phone’s home screen. Still, the site works well on mobile devices, with only the occasional bit of expected clunkiness when the UI doesn’t quite translate to a phone screen.

Brand games

RetroBet Casino Game Providers

Going through the list of providers on RetroBet’s site, some recognizable brands immediately stand out, including Play’n GO, Pragmatic Play, Spinomenal, Nolimit, Yggdrassil, BGaming, and Apparat Gaming. There’s over 130 providers currently listed on the site, though the exact list may differ based on where you’re located.

RetroBet Slots

With over 130 providers, it goes without saying that RetroBet offers a great selection of slots, with hundreds of options to choose from.

Finding games is fairly simple, as they’re organized into several tabs: new games, bonus buy slots, jackpots, instant win games, and a list of games you played recently. If you’re searching for something specific, you can narrow the selection down by provider or search games by name. Sadly, there are no additional filtering options.

RetroBet Live Casino

RetroBet also comes with a well-rounded selection of live games. There are hundreds of games to choose from here, too, including roulette, poker, blackjack, baccarat, and some game shows.

The selection of roulette games is about as varied as it gets. There’s a bunch of variants (American, French, speed, double ball, etc.) from reputable providers such as Pragmatic Play, Beterlive, and Evolution. The selection isn’t as broad when it comes to blackjack and baccarat, but it’s still quite varied.

The pickings are slimmest in the poker section, though there’s still a few variants to choose from, including Texas hold’em, casino hold’em, and 3-card poker.

About the RetroBet Team and History

RetroBet is one of the newest additions to the portfolio of Hollycorn N.V., an established operator based in Curaçao (license no. OGL/2023/176/0095). The casino has been recently acquired and re-launched in 2024, so there isn’t much relevant history to speak of. Still, Hollycorn N.V. has a considerable portfolio, and they’re about as good as Curaçao-licensed operators come.

Complaints and Track Record

We’ve barely had any complaints about RetroBet since the “old days” of the casino, and no new complaints following its acquisition by Hollycorn. As mentioned above, the operator has a steadfast reputation, and they’ve handled complaints in a timely and appropriate manner in the past.
