I thought that this would be relatively simple to set up. I checked out eBay, and they are working with http://www.missionfish.org where a percentage of the "sell" is donated to a charity of your choice. You can choose up to 100% (which I did), and I selected UNICEF as the recipient. It took me a few hours to get everything situated, but I did it and launched the auction. $20,000 was the starting bid (which is a relatively modest price for positioning for an entire year for two of the leading online casino portals). Within minutes I was shut down and banned. What the hell?
I felt like a bonus abuser at Crystal Palace. I promptly received an email that stated "We regret to inform you that your eBay account has been suspended due to concerns we have for the safety and integrity of the eBay community." I emailed them back requesting an explanation, but received nothing but a copy of their FAQ. What a load of garbage! I wrote them again asking them to be more specific, still nothing.
My only guess is that the word "casino" was used in the auction, thus not being "correct" and lacking integrity. It sickens me that eBay worries about their stupid little community while children are left homeless and dying because of the Tsunami.
So I said the hell with it and set it up at Casinomeister: http://www.casinomeister.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.pl?. It functions a lot like eBay, so many of you will have no problems (hopefully) maneuvering around. And this is what I want: I want everyone to get involved. I want players to convince their favorite casinos that this is something they ought to do - make a bid. And I want casino operators to know that this is for charity, so profits should not be a concern or even an issue. Casinos shouldn't be so concerned about "what's in it for me", they should instead think about the families that have been destroyed and the cities that need to be rebuilt. It's time to pool our resources and make a difference.
