London: My Magical Mystery Tour part IV of IV London: what a fantastic place. It's hard to find such a city that has so many meanings, histories, and other tidbits that have been etched in our minds one way or another: Shakespeare's plays, public executions, the Beatles, the punk scene, Buckingham Palace, Fish & Chips, driving on the wrong side of the road, and Jack the Ripper. My last evening spent there was not at a cinema, but on the "Jack the Ripper" walking tour. Given by Donald Rumbelow who is one of Britain's most distinguished crime historians and the author of the best-selling The Complete Jack the Ripper, it served as a fitting final touch to my last evening in London. I arrived an hour early so I could grab a bite to eat. Unfortunately, there were no restaurants in the surrounding area, so I spent an hour walking around listening to my stomach grumble and keeping track of where I was. I didn't want to get lost. I was surprised at the amount of people that showed up for the walking tour. Many more people than I had expected; about sixty. We were generally reluctant to hear the gory details, but morbidly fascinated at the same time. We found ourselves at some of the same street corners where the bodies had been discovered more than a century ago. And still, these crimes were never solved. After the tour, I found an Indian restaurant which served a delicious chicken curry. Mmmmm. Goodnight London... ...and hello Germany. I've had a couple of weeks to contemplate my experiences of the Interactive Casino Exhibition and would have to say it was overall a satisfying experience, but it was too small. It was great seeing the faces behind the websites and emails I've been in contact with over the past couple of years, but the ICE could have been bigger. There were perhaps only about twenty-five booths; that was it.
