My Radio Show at Casinogazette Like the new look? 2. And now for the thought of the day...... A philosophy professor stood before his class with some items in front of him. When class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks about 2" in diameter. Then he asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar of rocks. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the spaces between the rocks. The students laughed. He asked his students again if the jar was full. They said yes, it was. The professor then picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. "Now," said the professor, "I want you to recognize that this is your life. The rocks are the important things -- your family, your partner, your health, your children -- anything that is so important to you that if it were to be lost, you would be nearly destroyed. The pebbles are the other things in life that matter, but on a smaller scale. They are things like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else. The small stuff. If you put the sand or the pebbles into the jar first, there is no room for the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your energy and time on the small stuff, material things, you will never have room for the things that are truly most important. Pay attention to the things that are critical in your life. Play with your children. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal." Take care of the rocks first -- the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just pebbles and sand. Return to Top 3. Forum Highlights ------------------------------------------------------------ Casinomeister's Forum: Online Casinos: Question on Slotland's "TreasureBox"... ------------------------------------------------------------ By willray (willray) on Monday, March 11, 2002 - 04:58 pm: Hi everyone, I dont post here often, as I never had a bothersome question to post until now.... I've always had a "love\hate" relationship with slotland's "spaceJack", but thats another story... the thing I wanted to share was an "unwitting discovery" with regard to the game of "Treasure Box" but before I get suspicious (sp?)I wanted to see if any of you have drawn similar parallel experiences like this in the past? See, I'd pull the lever on Treasure box, and watch the three reels spin... one day, my finger got "itchy" and inadvertently clicked quite prematurely, on one of the reels still spinning and locked in a symbol...I quickly undid the checkmark to let it continue on its merry way, spinning...to my surprise, the end result was the same as my premature lock-in. Curiosity got the best of me, and for the next couple of spins, I intentionally played with "locking" (while the reels were still spinning;) ] to get a glance at the symbol and then "unlocked" it, ((to let it continue on its spin)) ... each time, I was astounded to find the end results were the same as the "premature lock-in" being peeked at. It seems from all outward appearances, that "TreasureBox" is not random at all. I guess the best way to describe my thoughts is that "TreasureBox" is a "scratchcard" version, with the body of a slot machine, the only thing random is its spinning, but the "win\loss" ratio is dispensed in a pre-determined manner. Does anyone else notice this peculiarity, or am I the only one who is noticing this? (I'm slowing catching on as to the "randomness or non-randomness" of certain games) will you please share your thoughts on this? I'd love to hear from you all. Appreciate your time and sharing insights. willray... Well? Find out what the casino had to say here. Return to Top 4. Gone Gambling's Casino Account Giveaway! Gamblers welcomed Goodfellows Casino.com with open arms recently as a well-funded, Microgaming-powered operation with great potential. Regrettably they have stumbled badly on a generous but risky promo, and that has led to them taking unilateral and perhaps ill-advised action that has unsettled players with painful memories of the Tropika debacle. A notice on the site says "As a result of severe system irregularities and abuse of promotions, management would like to advise all Good Fellows Casino players that all cash-ins up to and including March 12, 2002 have been halted pending a full audit." The notice goes on to say that members can continue to play as their requested cashouts have been returned to their accounts until the "audit" is completed over a period of thirty days, at the end of which they will "render a fair and final decision" At the end of the day, if management have erred, and players have benefitted from their mistake by playing to the rules the best course for a casino is to "eat" the loss rather than antagonising clients and acquiring a bad reputation. Goodfellows is part of a group which includes sound, reputable casinos such as Spin Palace, Diamond and Fortune Atlantis with reliable reports saying three others are on the launch pad, so underfunding would not seem to be a problem. Although there are no overt signs of dishonesty, this sort of unilateral damage control should always be very carefully considered - as we said earlier experienced players are still scarred by the Tropika "audit" scandal that was only resolved when Microgaming itself responsibly stepped in to pay the players.
