DTD (LAND) IS NIGH

Great synergy between new UK land poker room and its online sister
The cross-marketing synergy between land and online
gambling operations is clearly at work in Nottingham,
England where the final preparations are being made to
the 46 table Dusk Till Dawn land poker room due for
launch by gambling entrepeneur Rob Yong in April this
year. The cardroom is being hyped as the largest in
Europe and is already attracting media attention.
Generating more interest in the new venue is its online
poker sister, DTDpoker.com which has been packing them
in since December with a range of quality poker games
and services from Cryptologic. Brand recognition and
cross-promotional opportunities have clearly been
recognised by the sharp Yong team and the stylish site
will undoubtedly help attract clientele to the physical
card room.
Online players earn "DTD Points" which can be used to
pay for membership fees or to buy food and drinks at the
live club. Players may channel online rakeback bonuses
of up to 30 percent into buy-ins for large live
tournaments as part of the DTD$$$ Club, with those using
this option who finish in the money in live tournaments
earning extra bonuses from Dusk Till Dawn, with larger
bonuses for players who make the final table or win a
tournament.
It works both ways. Simon Trumper, the future Live Poker
Director for DTD says: "I'm hoping as many as 75 percent
of our (live club) members will play online. A lot of
the players that were already playing a lot of hours
elsewhere have decided to cross over and start playing
on our site with a view to making money to play with
once the club opens. I'm hoping that it will have kind
of a wave effect; the players that come in will tell
people that haven't started playing online yet."
Meanwhile, a growing number of players are upping the
ante at DTDPoker.com where a range of glossy promos and
events, tournaments and attractive rakeback deals are on
offer. The site offers crew blogs and a forum for
interactivity between staff and players, together with
poker news interest items.
Regrettably, the activities of the US Department of
Justice and the short sighted legislative policies of
the United States preclude involvement by U.S. players
in what promises to be an exciting collaboration between
the on and offline poker sectors.
