CORRECTION: 49er CASINO CLOSURE NOT CONFINED TO
U.S.A. (Update)
13 April 2007
Clientele referred to Bodog Casino
More information, including further contact with service
reps and email responses to enquiring players indicate
that the 49er Casino closure reported on InfoPowa
bulletins yesterday is total, and not merely a
withdrawal from the US market as reported.
49er Support told several players seeking further
information late yesterday that the closure will embrace
all players, and this is supported by attempts by other
players to register with non-US IP addresses, who
received an error message.
Several players reported receiving a message from the
casino that ended with the postscript:
"We've since contacted the renown (sic) provider, BoDog
Casino, who uses similar [RTG] software as 49er Casino
and they are prepared to welcome and afford you the same
levels of service as you've become accustomed to at 49er
Casino.
"And with their larger network of payment processors,
they are able to easily service all of your transactions
and gaming needs"
Over 24 hours after requesting a management comment for
clarification, InfoPowa's media enquiry has remained
unanswered.
Online casino marketing affiliates were advised earlier
this week that the RTG-powered 49er online casino would
close its virtual doors to US players with effect from
April 23 2007.
The notification, from marketing company Focal Click,
advised addressees: "With the recent changes in the
industry in the last few months, it has become
increasingly difficult to effectively process financial
transactions to 49er's valued US customers.
"49er Casino accounts will remain active till April 23,
2007. Your customers are free to continue to enjoy their
favourite games
until that date, after which any available balance
players have on their accounts will be processed and
sent to them via check
beginning April 30th.
"It would be in your best interest to remove any
49erCasino.com links you have on your site immediately,
as the ability to register
a new account at 49er is not possible as of today, April
10, 2007."
The communication notes that 49er's sister venues Sun
Poker.com, Omni Casino.com and CS Casino.com will be
closing only to US and Turkish business, continuing to
serve players in other countries.
49er, originally registered to the Peak Entertainment
group and powered by Cryptologic, underwent a software
change and a revamp last year.
