Playing Black jack at a table in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, or even at a small rural gambling den can be an exciting and amusing encounter regardless of whether you have never played the game prior to or whether you are a seasoned pro. These are individuals who are so good at playing Twenty-one that they are generating money significantly faster than most amateurs lose it.
Only advice I can give -
Hit on 16's and lower, stand on 17's and higher.
I've been playing Blackjack for about 10 years and let me give you an important piece of advice - have a good understanding of strategy before you put down money. I've seen time and time again an inexperienced player come to the table who knows the basic rules but have no clue about strategy - it sucks to see them come to the table and lose so much so quickly. When I see someone split 10's when the dealer has a 10 it just makes me cringe inside; although it's gotten me yelled at a few times I try to point out a rookie's mistakes to them at the table in a nice way.
(Mods please remove this if inappropriate) I've put together a Blackjack strategy guide on my site GamblersDen.com that can be applied to both online and land-based casinos - you can check it out and PM me any questions you may have - I'll be happy to help. It's pretty simplified and written to be easy to understand (at least my intention is for it to be).
That really depends on what the dealer's upcard is - if the dealer shows a 5 or 6 for example, you are better off standing and letting them hit and hopefully bust instead of risking going bust yourself.
My big breakthrough with BJ was when I stopped flat betting.
Unless you have some pre-existing advantage while flat betting; like a bonus or your card counting, flat betting will just eat away at your balance giving you little/no chance to break even or win.
What I would adivse is to fluctuate your betting pattern a little. At least then when your down you have some hope of getting back up.

It will give basic strategy. After you know basic strategy, then you can do card counting and/or team play (live casinos only I think, not online). Basic strategy is applicable online.
Good luck
