After the Ladbrokes/Gala-Coral merger it looks like Hills may be going down the road with Rank (Grosvenor) and 888.....

FWIW, snippet from that article:
UK betting firm William Hill has received a merger offer from rival gambling companies 888 and Rank Group.

William Hill said it would "listen to and consider" any proposal.

However, it was not clear that a combination of William Hill, 888 and Rank would "deliver superior value", the company said.

Online operator 888 and Rank, the UK's biggest casino chain, said they saw "significant industrial logic in the combination".

The move comes just days after William Hill's chief executive, James Henderson, was ousted from the bookmaker following a series of profit warnings. ...

One good thing about such a merger is that there would be one less black hole as far as player issues are concerned. There's be a bigger black hole, but one less.

Well as I dont play with any of these it wont effect me but could well do those that do. Although Lads and the like seem to have there interest firmly in the FOBTS which is where
a massive part of the yearly profits come from. Maybe thats why they have such a crap online offering. Business wise makes sense. Although personally I never play those foul inshop machines.

What is the average RTP% of those FOBTS / Fruitmachines in the UK?
I always wondered because I take the ferry from Ireland to the UK from time to time and tend to play a bit on the slots on board of the ships.
These are all UK fruities, mainly Barcrest and Maygay and I always found them very tight.
Especially the slots with higher JP's like £250.00.

If I may compare with slots in The Netherlands I find the UK slots very hard to win on.
They are fun to play but £50.00 doesn't last long on those most of the times.

1 time I ever hit big on a Cops and Robbers and had a nice £150.00 profit. :)

Ah yes, my one time I went to place a bet in William Hill I noticed the fabled FOBTs sitting there. I only went to ask at the counter about the Euro odds for a game, next thing you know this bloke is effectively holding my hand and giving me a guided tour of the shop!

And yes he did offer us a cup of tea and everything! I was taken aback, either he was being friendly or I suspect he sensed a couple of potential degenerate gamblers.

Tried to have a quick gander at any slot machines or anything I could recognize, but yes, those FOBTs stood out like a sore thumb and looked cheap and nasty. God help anyone that gets hooked on them monstrosities :(

Well JPS in shops here are usually 500 - 500 max win any game. I think they between 90is and 95% they do tell you on the machines. Supposedly random but that has to be bollocks (no tin foil hate needed)
because of the way the games streak especial rainbow riches etc even though they cant be forced as such. The Keybet roulette being one of the worst offerings. Loads of vids on YT with the 500 wins
but many as well of people loosing.

Mr Henderson, who took the helm in August 2014, had failed to resolve problems in the firm's struggling online business.

Try paying Sylvia P then!!!! The positive PR from this may well draw a line under the impression that this is a player unfriendly operation, despite it's huge size it has a reputation for not giving a damn about it's customers, nor it's own morals.

Think the ferry clubbers tend to be about 65% they are not allowed to be played until a certain few miles off shore!
I once put a pound in some random global/maygay and won £250 out!

Yeah true, the slots are only playable after 10-15 minutes on the waters...
Love to watch all those Latvian and Estonian truckers hammer those slots and throw 200 quid in them in like 30 minutes... :D

65% eey... That should be friggin' illegal!!! :eek2::eek:
