Question Self exclusion

I have just had a strange experience. I was playing a certain online casino which I will not name and got annoyed that I was always winning when I was playing within a bonus but never winning when or just before the requirements were met.
Therefore I self excluded from that company.
This all went through fine and got the email.

The interesting part start today, two days later, when I look at my bank balance and it says I have the exact amount extra in my bank account that I deposited on the day I self excluded.

I have a feeling that because I self excluded the casino could not claim the money after the two day ring-fenced period which is a nice surprise.

The question is that do I get to keep it? Is this a new law? My thoughts are that I can keep it as the casino has declined to take the money. It's just a bit strange. I don't mind giving them the money as I lost it so that the way it goes but is a nice surprise if I can still keep it!

Any thoughts?

It depends on the casino banking system or their country. If it's a Casino Rewards brand, it can take up to 8 days to leave a UK current account using a debit card whereas most EveryMatrix or MT SecureTrade is within 72 hours.

Wouldn't recommened spending the money in your account as it will more than likely come out shortly.

Be careful if money is showing in your account today if you deposited two days ago.

Depending on the bank and if you paid by debit card quite often a day or 2 later money you have paid out on debit card can often show up in your account again tho it might disappear again tomorrow.

Depends on your bank but im with Clydesdale and say I had £200 in my bank on a Tuesday and paid a few things by debit card and emptied my account quite often on Wednesday or Thursday some of it can be showing again in my account as withdrawable.

But by Friday it will be gone again and if I spent it id be overdrawn.

Its sometimes just the ay the banks systems work. Not saying that's the case here but personally id leave it a day to make sure it doesn't leave account again.

Hi find it very very unlikely the casino refunded deposits post SE which came after you made your deposit. More than likely as Nicola said its probably waiting to be processed.
Sometimes when I have made a depo with debit card it does not come of my available bank balance straight away - thats why to keep track now I always use Paypal or Skrill.

Only reason they may have refunded is if you did an SE at another casino owned by this one but even that is unlikely. Better wait a few days or contact the casino to see whats what.

Kudos to you for not wanting to screw them out of a deposit. I know many casinos are getting caught out on the SE loop hole this past 12 months with players abusing it. Something
which is not good for anyone in the long run.

Just spoke to the casino

So a quick update. The guy on the phone says that as it is back in your available balance (should have said it was taken off available balance straight away when I deposited) then the transaction will need to be authorised by myself again for it to go out again.

He is not sure why it was returned as it always goes out straight away! And shows up on my account as taken out on the 2nd day.

I asked if they will try and take it again and they can't do so. It it does this is illegal and I just claim it back through the banks.
Once again I don't want to short change the casino BUT I don't want to be in the possibility of going overdrawn after they have basically said it my money to keep now. They will have caused an issue now and I would object to that after I have shown good faith by calling them up to sort it.

wait, what? I thought the casinos considered these things CHARGEBACKS? and then they ban you for life and let other casinos know that you chargebacked......sort of blacklist you? sorry if I am wrong, I remember reading about this sort of thing a few years back, maybe even 4 years ago.

Not sure

Not sure about this... I did not ask for a chargeback or even start one with my bank. It's just the money has reappeared I'm my account available balance 2 days after the original deposits.

It confuses me as well.

But the casino themselves have said that if they try to take the money at a later date I can legally reclaim it via the bank.

Just to be clear :)

I have played on the casino in question before many times. This is how I know that I win when I'm in a wager requirement bit lose when out of it or close to out of it. As these things go I am down money overall and again that's fine.. It's the way it works..
As mentioned earlier I don't want to be labeled a cheat!!! :) conning the casino out of money. I have just read online somewhere that people actually deposit and hopefully win.. The if they don't they self excluded and get the money returned as the transaction has not been fully processed and basically.. As they can't take money from an excluded player they would be... The money would be given to the. A day after they were excluded. This is/was not my intention.. Hence why I'm on here trying to figure it out :)

Assuming they self excluded the same day after the deposit.

Hope that makes sense

I have that kind of experience a few times. Surprised to know not much people have.

For example, I had $100 in my account, I deposited $80 with Visa Debit that is attached to the account, after I deposited, I checked my bank account, the money was taken, it said "balance $100, available balance $20", and a couple of days later, when I checked my bank account it said "balance $100, available balance $100".

A few days later when I checked the bank account again, it said "balance $20, available balance $20"

One time I ordered books from UK, the money was taken right away, my bank account said "balance $200, available balance $50", and a few days later my bank account showed like "balance $200, available balance $200", and it took almost two weeks until my bank account showed as "balance $50, available balance $50"

I really don't know why it happens. But it happens sometimes I'm sure the money will be taken out some stage from the account.

I can never believe a casino would give such advise as that is a charge back. And charge backs are the curse of many high risk industry's and they also incur hefty penalties from Visa/ Mastercard levied at the Merchant,
and there is a % limit that can never be breached in relation of charge backs versus transactions. So no business in there right mind would advise this. Really weird they said that to you!

Any one with half a brain would rather issue a full refund that risk a charge back. Mastercard especially these past few years are venomous when it comes to charge back ratios

I remember one mofo a few years back who charged back no less than 8 transactions all under $8 usd and we got hit with not only loosing the original purchase amount but a lovely $45 fine per charge back.
There is little or no appeal process with acquiring banks. Nasty stuff.
