Moving to Vegas - Any tips/suggestions?

I have an excellent opportunity coming up that will allow me to relocate to Vegas. I'm currently looking for housing, and wanted to see if anyone knew what areas I should steer clear from, what areas to look for, etc. Not looking for anything expensive, just average....

I'll be taking the plunge the first part of August, and if there's anyone that lives in town, or will be there during that time, let me know and we can get together sometime.


PS: It's cheaper to take a bus from central PA down to Baltimore and fly from there...Found flights for ~40% of what it would cost to fly from here (Including bus fare)....wow.

Summerlin, Green Valley Ranch, The Lakes, Red Rock are my choices, there are a bunch more though, I live in Canada but have a couple properties that I scooped up when the housing crash was at its peak, both are in Summerlin, never had any issues there.

Unfortunately I cannot help you there, I have whached some t.v shows and Vegas is not all lights and glory, When move away from the strip there is some bad places, Only going of them real police programs called cops here on U.K t.v

Yep, I understand that I've watched COPS here in the USA to know what goes on off-strip..hehe...just wanna know what areas those are to be able to stay away from them

I normally try to keep my usernames in various Casino's as private as possible, simply due to the fact that even the good sites/forums have evil dweebs lurking in invisible mode, just to gain as much info on people as possible

Spent the first 6-months of 2014 living in Vegas (whilst I was working for a land-based gaming company) & I'd echo the above, and add Henderson too.

Summerlin / Red Rock areas (North West) would be my personal first choice. However this can be more expensive than my 2nd choice of Green Valley / Henderson areas (South East). Both locations are ~20min drive from the strip, so your far enough away to not get immersed in the craziness that goes on there, yet close enough to get involved when the mood strikes.

I'll be back in town for G2E (28th Sept - 1st Oct) - Bryan & a few others are usually around too, so let's see if we can organise a few drinks

and I learned today that the TSA doesn't confiscate lighters at screening, anymore Thank god.....won't have to worry about finding someone that actually has a light after being on a plane for hours on end...
