Hi,

I have a problem with the above mentioned casino. I will start from the beginning, and i apologise in advance for the long winded nature but i feel it is necessary.

I have a huge gambling problem. It all started 2 years ago with a single small win on 32red. The money was in my account the next day....i thought this is awesome, easy money. Prior to this i had never gambled before, not even once. I was 23 years old at the time. I slowly started to increase my bets....getting big wins which at first i would withdraw, but soon i would be spending hours playing, even at work, and always ended losing any winnings back to the casino. I simply believed that my luck would never run out and i would eventually cash out a huge sum. I'd know when to walk away i would always tell myself.

I ended up going from nearly debt free to £30k debt in 3 months. I became obsessed. My employer discovered my problem, and it ended badly there. I borrowed cash from them and was unable to pay it back. They trusted me, and i betrayed them.

I borrowed money from my mum, brothers, even stole from their bank accounts at times. They all trusted me of course before this....it was me....their brother who had a good job and was always so careful and helpful with money.

I do not wish to go into too much detail, however there is one thing i wish to explain in detail.

In 2010, i was diagnosed with a pituitary tumour, a macroprolactinoma. A huge tumour.....i was almost blind due to pressure from the tumour on my optic nerves, felt exhausted and always fatigued....had put on tremendous weight in a few years before diagnosis. I of course had been complaining of declining vision in my left eye particularly for years, and also feeling generally unwell.

The tumour destroyed my pituitary gland, so i was not getting any hormones - no thyroid, no testosterone, no cortisol. And over a few years the tumour had grown to point were as i say i was nearly blind, i had to stop driving....and no one could tell me why. I had seen around 30 specialists over 4 years and none had a clue what was wrong.

After diagnosis, i was informed that a simple blood test would have indicated a problem, and the scan that discovered the tumour would have been alot sooner. The tumour would not have grown as it did, i would have retained eyesight and would not need to take medication for the rest of my life.

This is were the story will sound ridiculous....but please bear with me.

The tumour is inoperable. It is wrapped around the main artery to the brain, and i was told surgery had a 90% fatality chance. The good news however......was that a medication can shrink these kinds of tumour.

I was over the moon of course. Glad to be alive......i was so happy. I thought i was going to die.

After starting the medication, named Cabergoline on a fairly high dosage, my vision in my right eye restored. the tumour eased off my optic nerves. However, the left eye never recovered. I am blind in one eye. I must take this medication for the rest of my life to keep the tumour in check. It will never disappear, and will continue to try and grow, but the medication can shrink it down to a non intrusive level.

This was in 2010. After all this, I managed to secure a good job, even with on eye and my condition, and managed to get back to a good, normal life. Over the next 3 years, things were great. I took my medication and kept going for scans and hormone replacement therapy.

At the start of 2013, i decided to seek legal advice. After all, 30+ specialists and years of asking why i was going blind was unreal. I felt let down.

The solicitor of course took my case on.

In march 2013, that is when i played my first bet. And as i mentioned, i could not stop. I destroyed my life in a few short months.

Why couldn't i stop? I one day looked at my side effects on the medication packaging. It is a drug with not alot of medical research....as my kind of tumour is fairly rare. The most common side effect....compulsive behavior. Shopping, binge eating, gambling.

I did like to do alot of shopping online.....my friends always remarked how much i spent and how ling i spent shopping. I used to binge eat ....would go to the local shop and buy more food than 1 person could possibly eat and sit and try and get through it.....i don't even know why. Once i discovered gambling however, the most destructive compulsive behavior in my opinion, it took hold and today in 2015 i still cannot stop.

In fact....3 weeks ago i got the money through from my claim. It included damages from my gambling, as the hospital even admitted the medication i take would not have been needed to be taken in such high doses if the tumour was discovered earlier, and therefore the side effects would not have been as pronounced and in turn i would not have my debts and worry.

Id never gambled before in my life. I do not like to blame medication for my own pathetic and idiotic actions. I of course attend GA and receive help for my addiction. No one in my family has a history of addictions. The medication must have played its part. The solicitor and also the hospital agreed. I have let everyone i care about down, it is not me...i just cannot shake the feeling of throwing money away. I have closed so many accounts, opened so many online.....self excluded, paid for betfilter, gamblock.......self excluded from all bookies, all casinos in my area.....still i find a way.

Which leads me onto VIPcasino. I had permanently closed my account with intercasino, their sister site. I was told i could not have an account due to having closed with intercasino.

In my gambling frame of mind, after receiving this large amount of cash in my account from the claim, i decided to open and deposit anyway. I desperately just wanted to play some slots....it was a horrible feeling but i simple could not help it. Over the course of a day i put around £7000 into the casino, of course on stupid bets, and lost it all.

In my disgusting mind i had to win it back....i went into live chat and begged for a bonus. I said anything i could to try and get one. I threatened to close the account hoping they would want to give me a bonus. No, they simply closed it. I was numb with shock. I then tried to reopen it a few hours later (i had put a deposit limit of £100 on it before i closed) in order again to try and ask for bonuses, to be told sorry no, you have been flagged for a gambling problem, your account will not be reopened.

I needed this money for my future. My health has declined again....i need more surgery to fix a leak on the brain were my tumour has shrunk and torn my membrane that separates my nasal pathway to the outside world. In effect i am at serious risk of meningitis, as infection can now access the brain. I will need care, and this money i need back.

I have pleaded with VIPcasino......i explained my situation. They simply declined any kind of refund. It is my own fault of course......but i was excluded from their site anyway......why should they get to profit from my misery? I have begged them to show some compassion....it pains me to explain my sad little story and drag up all my illness and history. But im left to do so and humble myself and say i am a complete fool.

I need this money back......to send to my family for safe keeping.....i have sent the remainder of my money to them. My next step is litigation......i really do not want to drag myself through it all again though. I just want to get on with my life. Something took over the day i saw a big sum of money in my account. It took me losing £7000 to see clarity and snap out of the trance.

Im sorry for the wall of text and im sorry if im wasting yours and my own time......i didnt know were else to post. If there are any gaps in my post or something that's needs clarifying i will of course try and clear it up. But that is my sad story. Please dont be too harsh....i know im an idiot. I don't expect sympathy, that i really do not want. I just feel very harshly treated by VIPcasino.

What can i do?

i had a read through and i am sorry you are unwell and miracles do happen dont give up :)

on the vip casino thing if you excluded due to problem gambling and the casino knew that when you opened the account and did not stop you it shows lack or responsible gambling. We see alot of posts about this here about this sort of compulsive play. the only case you have and if you are legit is to prove the group knew you had the issue with gambling and failed to close the account before major money loss.
contact the rep if they have one here and go from there but your chances of getting your money back or part of are quite slim.sorry

Hi feel for you with every thing going on really do!!!

But as for the loss at the casino I would not hold out much hope. You opened the account - you gambled - you lost. They are under no obligation unless you had prior clearly stated you wanted a life time exclusion. And they the casino can not be expected to work out medical issues. They are a casino after all geared up to take deposits unless a person is under 18 / or has self excluded. Then it is not okay.

While I feel for you on a personal level I do think you are gonna need to let this money go. Its lost never to return. Focus on your recovery - not on getting back what is gone. With 7k lost I am not even sure it would be worth taking a legal route as it would cost you more than that in fees and from a personal perspective I think the casino could have a strong case to offer in there defense.

Stick with GA - GamCare - Gambling Therapy - all really good organizations that can support you through this.

You played and you lost. Thats gambling. Focus on the here and now and not what has gone cause I don't think you got a leg to stand on. I could be totally wrong and this is just my own opinion. But whatever personally I wish you well.

I am sorry for your health situation. I can't imagine how awful this is for you. I do agree with Deeplay, this money is gone for good I am afraid. You had excluded yourself from Intercasino and you were told that you could not open an account with VIP casino yet you did anyway. I am not sure what process they use in order to vet new accounts but they would have flagged your account at some stage I should think. I also think that if VIP casino hadn't let you open an account that day you would have found another casino that would let you open an account. I would suggest you ask the mods to move you to the quit gambling section of this forum.

Good luck to you with regards to your health and everything else:)

Had he won, they definitely would have refused his payout. The entire system stinks.

If they were able to recognise he was a problem gambler when he asked for a bonus, why weren't they able to reject his membership?

It's in their own terms, if you're excluded from one site, you're excluded from the other.

IMO, they should be doing more to proactively enforce policies relating to cases like this and not when it suits them (which a problem gambler wins and tries to withdraw).

Casino opportunism.

According to the OP's post he closed the account and then asked it to be re-opened in order to claim a bonus and that is when the casino refused due to problem gambling issues.

I do agree with you, linked casinos ought to be more proactive when accepting new members and try to avoid situations such as this from occurring. I also think it would be nice if there was a central database that has a list of players who have self-excluded for gambling problems. This way all casinos could vet new members. Ideally this database would be independent and have strict legal oversight. I know this is not possible due to privacy laws and such.

there is no question you should get your money back. Under the terms of the UKGC license, operators have to take all possibly action to stop a self excluded player from playing. If you were self excluded from Intercasino due to a gambling problem, then you should not have been able to have set up an a/c with VIP casino. Closing your account without returning your deposits is unacceptable.

Intercasino/VIP ate accredited. Hopefully the rep will pick this up.

Well quoting the OP

"Which leads me onto VIPcasino. I had permanently closed my account with intercasino, their sister site. I was told i could not have an account due to having closed with intercasino.

He decided to open the casino anyway. And cunningly chose a sister site. Sorry but he knew what he was doing. And if he had won would he have posted here ? Not a chance. Something not right with this post the more I look at it. And it smacks of a player not able to take responsibility for there own action. With all respect to the OPS personal difficulties he made the choice. To claim wrong state of mind or what ever wont wash I think.

Also why a sister site to the same casino he was blocked from ? They are 100s to choose from. Just saying maybe a thought in the back of his mind that if he did loose he could have a chance of getting back looses because of his self exclusion at the sister site. Shows more intent imo than the OP is "maybe" letting on. I could be totally wrong of course but this is the way I see it.

He has severe gambling issues and needs to get help and support. Even if the casino did cough up the readies I would wager he would /will gamble them again at another casino. Maybe taking a hard hit like this is what is needed for a wake up call. Seems like a hard line but people have to take responsibility for there own actions. He gambled he lost. And he knows he should have never opened the account at a sister site. But he did anyway. Accountability. To loose 7 grand that he could not afford in one session shows a severe addiction that he needs to address. If it had not been VIP Casino it would have been another casino. But he chose vip casino. Which is where they are questions as to why ....

Exactly what I was thinking

I am sorry to hear of your troubles.

This is the link to the Rep for VIP Casino: https://www.casinomeister.com/forums/members/29486/

Send him a private message (click on it on right hand side), including a link to this thread and the personal details he will require to look into it for you.

A lot will depend on how you closed your account with Intercasino. If you identified yourself as a problem gamble, compulsive gambler, or addict, then that permanent self-exclusion should have applied to their sister casino most likely. If you mere asked to close your account, I think you are SOL.

Under the new UK licensing regulations, bets should not be accepted from IDENTIFIED problem gamblers. Deposits should be refunded, and that is all you would likely have got even had you won.

Give the rep some time to look into things for you (should at least respond in a week to acknowledge your issue), and if you know you self-excluded at Intercasino for a gambling problem, then I suggest you go read the PAB FAQ https://www.casinomeister.com/forums/help/pab-rules/

This is a free mediation service if the rep is unable or unwilling to solve your issue. One of the big no-nos is to talk about your issue, so I suggest you make no more posts about those losses.

Of course, you are more than welcome to talk about the challenges you face with dealing with your addiction(s).

If you are not already seeing a psychiatrist, I suggest you ask for a referral to one who can work with your other doctors to perhaps prescribe a medication to help counter those OCD side effects, as well as offer therapy for them.

I have reported your post so a moderator can move you to the quit gambling section of the forum.

Take some time and read there, you will probably find some helpful advice and strategies, along with some success stories that may give you hope and inspiration.

You know you have a problem, and you are not in denial, two of the biggest obstacles to overcome. I wish you well in your journey back to a healthier life.

Dearest
This post must be one of the most heartbreaking I've read in this forum for years. Gambling-problems is a real "in yor face" sickness, just like alcoholism and just like any other impulsion beahior it all falls back on the patient. One have to take 100% responsible for whatever you do or have it tried in court, that's it. You can break your back all over trying to explain but it will do you no good. The casino acted exemplarious and you should stop gambling, never looking back. It IS pathetic to complaining over losses, you wouldn't wind about a win, would you? If you find my answer somewhat rough, remember this is a VERY serious subject. Wish you all the best in life, hope you'r ok.

This post must be one of the most heartbreaking I've read in this forum for years. Gambling-problems is a real "in yor face" sickness, just like alcoholism and just like any other impulsion behaior it all falls back on the patient. As an adult one have to take 100% responsible for whatever you do or have it tried in court, that's it. You can break your back all over trying to explain but it will do you no good. The casino acted exemplarious and you should stop depositing, never looking back. It IS pathetic complaining over losses, you wouldn't wind & cry about a win, would you? If you find my answer somewhat rough, remember this is a VERY serious subject. Or you could just keep on wasting your life, just don't post meters about casinos not acting accordingly to your agenda. Wish you all the best in life, hope you'r ok. After all we'r only human

Well quoting the OP

The reason i chose VIPcasino is because when i played at Intercasino, i liked the marvel slots, such as Batman. I prior to going to VIPcasino googled the slot name and tried to find another site with this slot. I could not find one, or rather i did but it was a well known site i have been excluded at for a year or so and could not open an account if i wanted to....and as i wanted to get some gambling done right that second in that mindset i thought i sod it ill just play.

It wasn't even about actually winning money. I just wanted the feeling of winning. I feel dirty even saying it but it is true.

Really? And how did you come to the conclusion the Casino should take that kind of responsibility? They offer you a product, yes they profit, it's genious and most gamblers have no problem with it. In fact the wet dream of any gambler is to open their own casino. I hate this kind of threads...

I genuinely feel sorry for your predicament, especially your health issues which I would not wish (excuse the pun) on my worst enemy.

I also hope that everything works out for you in a positive way :thumbsup:

The main reason for my post and in closing, I would like to say a big well done already as recognising the fact that you have a problem is the first and probably the biggest 'step' of all.

Very best of luck

I like to think i have taken responsibility for my own actions.....thank you for being honest in your words however.

I cannot explain how many times i have tried to stop. I have not actually withdrawn money or won since my first month gambling over 2 years ago. I know i will not walk away. I play to lose, and always will.

But i still do it to myself.

Don't do that, dont make yourself a smaller person. In this forum gamblingproblem pops out quite frequently, Iv'e admitted some of my own weaknesess, so you are absolutely not alone. I'm sure you are a great guy, maybe gambling is not your thing, thats it? Life is beautiful, dont waste it

Hi,
This is a tough read and I really do wish you all the best. I also admire you for facing up to the fact that you have a problem with Gambling ( any addiction is hard to admit too).
However the deposit situation works out for you, I wish you nothing but good health for the future.

Stay strong.

This is a really, really tough situation, your health, the medication, and ensuing gambling problems. Thanks for sharing and I wish you all the best in beating your addiction xander.

Just one note (as mentioned already above): I thought that deposits had to be returned when the player turns out to be self-excluded at a sister site? Anyway, take some of the advice above and again, wishing you lots of strength and I really hope that your health improves.

Gonna take a big step out of the inofficial rules not to use the thank you button as a facebook likie on this one. In fact inofficial rules sucks. I'll stick to Casinomeisters T&C, that's ALL I have to do ;)

I am really sorry having to read such a sad post m8 and I sincerely feel for you.
But I also see a person with a very serious gambling problem, not just a small problem but a big big problem.
It seems your life atm revolves around gambling,I mean 7k in one day?:eek:
Even if you were in need of playing why not play low stakes so you could play for a few hours with a hundred or 200 quid.
7k,I wonder what games you were playing and at what stake.

So all the monies from your claim are gone?

I do agree the casino should have blocked you from depositing at all but then you could have picked one of the hundreds of other online casino's anyway so I am not sure if that would have helped you at all.

I seriously wish you all the best but I would take the losses and get your life back on track.
Get more help if the current help is not sufficient for you.
Let someone else manage your income/funds for a while etc etc.

Losing 7k in a day is bad, especially if that money had to compensate some other things for you.

Good luck m8!

You see you made an informed choice. You wanted to play - you chose to play. Now as for getting money back (not that I think it would do you any good personally because the odds are you will just gamble it again another casino) but to have any chance it would depend if at the time of your deposits you have full exclusion in place at the sister casino for the reason stated gambling problems. I state this because you say above you have been excluded for a year or so. SE usually runs from 6 months to 12 months or permanent if you choose so. So if the SE had lapsed you were no longer excluded and so have ZERO chance of seeing a dime back.

If a full SE was in place then maybe you would be in with a shout but personally I feel it wont do you any good and I question the ethics on this. You made a clear choice to gamble and you lost.

I do have empathy with your situation and know this comes over as hard. But I dont think you have even begun to accept responsibility for your actions or the fact you have a severe gambling addiction. Get help and support ASAP. Get in touch with Gamecare as they can put you touch with local help / counseling support treatment etc. Also for severe cases there is the Gordon Moody Association who offer residential treatment. This is intense stuff but know it has worked for many. These I feel are where you should be directing your energies in entering into recovery. Rather than just trying to get back what is lost. At the moment its gone and it aint coming back unless you can prove they broken a specific term of taking your wagers with an active SE in place.

Were you still SE from the other casino at the time of depositing ? It pretty much hinges on that one question. Even though as I said on a personal note I don't think this is the right direction or course of action for you to take. Wish you well what ever.

I to see the very, VERY slim leaphole regarding the sistercasino, but I see no legal chance winning that one. T&C apply, see no reason for the casino to go that extra mile. This time the casino won, deal with it. Next time, dont deposit, it really is that simple

Not going to get into this in detail as its quite a complicated situation but think a few things need clarity.

Anyway you have a lot of problems in life and with health so hopefully it all works out for you.

But I noticed you said you had gamblock and everything so I am surprised you were able to play any casino.

But one thing that needs to be made clear as to getting deposits etc. returned. I saw you said you had an Intercasino account which you had permanently closed. Closing an account is totally different from self excluding. It all comes down to if you gave reasons and what they were when you CLOSED your account since it wasn't a self exclusion.

Nothing you have posted yet shows the casino was actually aware of a gambling problem at first. The gambling problem seems to have arose after you lost the money and practically begged the casino for bonuses and deposits back. That showed the casino you had a gambling problem which is why they would not reopen that account. It in no way shows the casino was aware of that problem beforehand.

Exellent question I didn't think of, was it closed or permanently banned due to gamling problems? I think we have a beautiful story here but no case. As I said: I hate these threads...
