Hi people,

I am Glen from the UK and I found this website after searching in google for "is it normal for an online casino to request a notary document".

So firstly - I love to gamble and you could say at times it becomes a problem however I dream of day of not having to worry about money and so I continue to do it. I work in security (SIA registered) and am studying towards the the Security+ qualification in information security.

I don't mean to bitch however I feel that it needs to be discussed what happens when you win big?

I dream of it happening and yes it happened - life changing money won - but I now have to get to the withdrawal stage and have the money deposited into my bank account.

I like playing mircogaming and netent games, I look for the gambling commission logo and do this for a bit of trust in an operator that if I win I'll get paid.

I now am going to share the journey with you online - will I get paid?

I have 94,000.00 gbp in my casino account after winning on "Break da Bank again" I believe it is a mircogaming product.

Now, I have to have my details validated by the security team. And yes after providing all of the documents I have been additionally asked for all of my documents to be signed by a notary and that I have to apply for a passport and submit and scan them by email.

Is this common practice or are they in-fact an evil do'er?

So, I have to find a hundred pounds for a passport and an undisclosed amount in notary fees - and yes notary fees are more expensive than a lawyer about ten times as much.

The casino in question is listed on the site as accredited. I am not going to name them (yet) its not good practice and I have an understanding that maybe what they are asking can be validated to some extent. But, am I blind in the fact that I am chasing a dream that will never happen?

Glen

Hi Glen, welcome to the forum!

As they are accredited, as long as you have not broken ANY T&Cs, I would say it is a 99.99% certainty that you WILL get paid

Notarized documents are a rare request (except at Playtech-based casinos) - but not totally unheard of.
You can get these done fairly cheaply - I don't know exactly how myself, but I do know that some other members will reply soon to give you some advice on that.

I suggest you contact the rep for the casino anyway, as he/she may be able to help you through the verification process in the simplest and quickest way.
The reps are listed here: https://www.casinomeister.com/forums/members/?key=staff_members
(There should also be a link to the reps from the Accredited Casinos list)

Congratulations on your GREAT win :notworthy

Thank you.

Thanks KK,

It was extremely encouraging to hear your comments on the issue.

As I have explained I am studying the security+ qualification in information security and this in-fact has made me rather paranoid regarding the use and privilege of confidential information.

I currently receive on average 10 to 20 phishing attacks a day and was receiving vimming attacks as well until I changed my telephone number - so I have a good reason to be paranoid. With respect people are extremely ignorant as to how easy it is to capture data that can be exploited.

I have asked the casino operator why they need this documentation and how they are going to use it - I haven't received a reasonable reply simply they need it?

If adversaries gained copies of identification documents what could they achieve with respect to fraud - a lot is the answer. What could adversaries achieve with a notary document - a hell of a lot more.

So what do I need to do to justify the supply of this information - I have to look at the integrity of the operator and the level of confidentially that they supply.

If I had received an email saying I had won the lottery in Spain and needed to supply 200 gbp for the monies to be paid; I'd understand that this was an evil'doer - I have never been to Spain and never played the lottery in Spain. So, by default I didn't win. The evil'doer is not looking for the 200 gpb as a result but the information that is supplied by the payment - they basically get access to all of you finances by an individual making a small payment and will empty your bank account.

The victims are having their emotions and circumstances preyed on so they can be exploited.

However this situation is different - I sort out the operator; I deposited via an approved and registered payment provider/gateway over an SSL connection. I have checked that they are registered with government bodies in England, I have their address, their company and licensing details. They provide the games that are from industry leaders and gaming software houses - that are also used by high street gaming shops so it all looks very positive...

However, I have been a victim previously to a sum greater than 20,000.00 in 2005 which basically destroyed my life, family and well-being - so I don't want this to happen again.

When a simple process becomes dogmatic and bureaucratic alarms start to go off.

Do you not think that if notary documents are a rare request, why did it happen? And what is going on that I haven't been informed about?

If anything?

Protecting a campany

Unfortunately it is very apparent that the majority of online and offline attacks to companies large or small are from disgruntled employees. With the rise of social media the tech savvy computer user has the ability to damage a company quite significantly.

So why have I not mentioned the company name that I have won the money from?

I have lost employment from my use of social media in my prior years and had to seek legal rectification under European law to have said comments to be removed from global viewing. This indeed was not just a factor in one but two incidents of employment that were resolved under compromise with the companies concerned in respect of further legal action.

Therefore under knowledge of these facts and that the operator has done nothing wrong whatsoever I have out of good manners not mentioned the company. If they wanted to claim and publicly comment on the issue I am sure they will in due course.

Low and behold as the response that I have received in the above comment, giving reference to the terms and conditions, by mentioning the company I open the door to the scrutiny of intent and ultimately could run the risk of losing the money altogether! Lucky call again!

Anyway, I finally got round to signing my debt card and sending them a copy via secure protocols - the least they can do is debit my account from which I deposited.

Thanks,

Glen

:p

P.s. - campany - company, even with technology I can't spell properly, I'm under a sneaky feeling that one got edited...haha

They don't have to pay...

Well I went to work today yesterday night thinking is this really to good to be true?

I spoke to some of my friends and they seemed pleased for me, I felt riddled with self pity, ashamed of my greed and the idea that whilst my prayers have been answered I am yet being taught another lesson.

I have sent my documents to the casino - my passport, my driving license and my council tax bill. I have even sent them a copy of my security licence for what its worth - which has a chip for retina details and authenticated by the home office - So I am pretty certain I am who I say I am - they rejected it. It cannot be scanned successfully anyway and its pretty hard to forge. But not impossible.

My Id passport and driving licence is out of date and not really a lot of use to anyone wanting to defraud and I have sent my credit card details with six numbers blanked out - not that that is a lot of good - I'm sure they could figure out my card number anyway with the missing six digits.

The encryption is a bit rubbish its not even labelled by an authority in first view in chrome. With 33 background cookies launching - they don't have a cookie policy which could or could not be illegal in the UK and face a fine up to half a million - pretty much powerless to enforce for everyone.

As there servers are possibly based in the UK it is slightly concerning. There details are masked in whois data - suspicious...

Their terms and conditions probably when it boils down to it are garbage for we can do whatever we like and don't have to pay you. - item 6.11

The gambling authority is shut and I haven't even received a phone call, letter or email of confirmation of my winnings. They probably won't even get there licence revoked but I'll give it a damn good try?

I could be in one of those depressed moods - I was wondering from a security prospective if they have load balancing and how much bandwidth they go through a day?

I'm pretty certain I have won the national lottery six times now and still waiting for a payout - could be wrong.

Maybe I should divided down?

I am who I am and I'm happy that way - please to be me whoever I am.

So, I don't have the money for the documents

I sent the relevant documents to the operator and asked that whilst they are not in date they are the most up to date documents I have and by this I sought clarification under the terms that this is enough to hold the account open until I can raise the money to pay for the documents. I could have the money by the middle of the month if I avoided paying taxes, buying food and cigarettes, paying bill, child support and birthday's. They didn't confirm this in writing by email and just reiterated the fact that they wanted the documents.

I could borrow the money from my natural father - he expressed his concern at the level of my gambling and whilst I continually try and stop I persist. My adopt father basically told me to fuck off and that I'd lose everything including my home in his normal manner. My mother I have asked and she hasn't replied.

So after telling my adoptive father that I won - he didn't congratulate me he judged and its pointless asking him for financial help as he never does and just bangs on about budgets and being responsible. As he had previously explain at a division of wealth.

My mother and my natural father and my adoptive father expressed their concern that I wouldn't manage the money very well.

So I stated to my natural father that I would give him half of the winnings and that he helps the family. I then text my mother and explained that I would give her a third and phoned back my father to explain.

So divided into three.

The first call of the day

I had a call from a very good friend and he offered to loan the money for the documents which was about 200.00. He wasn't interested in what I had done and the moral dilemma or the ridiculous 58,000% a day interest on the loan I was offered; he was in-fact very matter of fact about the whole thing. So, problem resolved and panic over.

Life

I have had some bad experiences with the church - I have been informed by a good friend I went on the wrong day...they really should pay some tax, not forgetting back taxes. But thank you for my home.

Indemnity

Ah at last I have been assigned an account manager a wonderful little scrotum called Daniel he has taken the time from paying out those millions and sunning himself on a rather large yacht to responding to my request.

After paying off my debt. I have had a rather busy but relaxing weekend working and have considered visiting Japan.

Written Confirmation

As with any big win you would seek written clarification to justify and numerate the win. Why? Because without written confirmation you may not have won. Once you have established written confirmation and the indebted amount you should seek to insure your loss as with any financials. Do not proceed with haste and rush around like a headless chicken spending the money and borrowing before you have even received it.

Consider the fact that some banks change their name and that you are only allowed 88,000.00 of cover on any given account.

hmmm, 3 Billion pound fraud.

Been a week and still no pogression

Been a week, I phoned and spoke to the boss in malta. Apparently I now have duplicate accounts from different email addresses over the last couple of days - which I have clearly stated are not me - they still want a new passport and documents by a notary.

I asked for written confirmation of the win in the post - they said they'd DHL it to me but cannot garentee payout.

I'm gonna speak to the rep.

Totally in the Head

Winning the money hasn't done me any favours at all, what with work and this - mentally I am falling apart...I should chill out before I hang myself like my friend. Just waiting for the letter in the post saying send me 200 gbp. If I ever do get the money - which is looking unlikely I am giving it to my three parents. Just phoned the gaming authority in malta for advise - next the UK at 9am

So, I have spoken to both bodies - you got away on a technicality. Regulation has in fact made it easier not to pay and by speaking to the regulator I have probably broken the terms and conditions. It is unfair but a part of life. That is how you make money - fraud. I don't blame them - they are trying to run a business and whilst unethical and morally corrupt they are allowed to. Malta is a pretty shit place and lots of men, women and children go hungry and die. See why?

My biggest concern is that I am schizophenic and am easily exploited - you would have left me and my young children without food and bare living essentials. I am in fact pretty poor and you sold me a dream that wasn't real - I felt good for a bit. And yes there was a 60% chance that I would have killed myself - that isn't funny or cleaver and those people that do are cold hearted and not worthy of any respect at all. You probably placed bets on it. To make it interesting I'll bet against suicide - a little joke there.

Ideally I'd like to keep the company open as long as possible - they gotta eat - but please be a bit more considerate and honest.

So I have another party trick - along with my island in Australia its called "Bridgland Island" from another failed attempt to exit the rate race.

I will leave the thread open for any company wanting to exclude players as they won't make payment.

I will never be rich - I'm to honest - please for the love of God stop my dreams of grandure that ain't gonna happen....

Kind Regards,

Glen

OK Now, enough is enough

Glen,

Besides calling my staff vulgar names on regular basis, ranting away incoherently, at a rate of 30/40 chats and emails a day - irrelevant of what kind of pressure you exert, the situation will not change.

You know precisely WHY we asked you for notarised documents. You need to provide those, there are no if's or buts about it. You've been beating around the bush for 7 days and for the kind of money you are due to receive, that just doesn't paint a good picture for yourself.

This insane rant of a threat, which is far less vulgar than your daily portion of abuse you dish to to my staff has been reported to Max. Raise a PAB or get your act together and get your docs in order.
