Ladbrokes In Ireland

On the news tonight it was announced that Ladbrokes shops in Ireland have gone into administration.
Bit of a shocker but maybe not considering the way the casino's direction had gone also.
Still i hate to hear people losing their jobs.

Yep with you on the people losing their job thing not nice

Happened to me more than once so I do feel for em.

On the other hand its run like a back street brothel nowadays not so much in shop but certainly online.

Thought I read somewhere last week that they'd appointed new 'top dog' to get their 'house in order' :what:

Not heard anything about that as don't stay in Ireland.

But its a pretty weird situation that they've went into administration. Could understand them closing shops but I wouldn't have thought theyd be allowed to go into administration when the company is still making a profit overall.

I think its because its run as a separate company in Ireland, and reading on RTE website it lost 5 Million Euro last year. It will probably restructure and exit examinership in a few weeks time, close some shops and lay off some head office staff. How does a bookie ever lose money???

I worked for another bookmaking firm here and when Ladbrokes came over to Ireland they went a bit silly buying shops here there and everywhere and at silly prices.
A friend of mine was paid a serious amount of money by them for his 6 shops.
Slowly but surely it will be only Paddy Power and Boyles over here.

Because they are out-marketed by other bookies, but primarily because they aren't allowed to peddle their crack cocaine in Ireland, the disgusting FOBTs

Funny enough you are defo spot on about the machines and i am sure if the uk had the same rules about them as they do here the company would be in stook there also.

Don't forget Tully Bookmakers,we have one right down the street here and it is always crowded.
Last year a local won €54.000 on a €2.00 accumulator football bet in this same place. :eek:

Tully's have been closing a few shops lately also and i think it's a tough life trying to be an independent bookmaker nowadays with them open all hours and very few punters in a lot of the shops.

I cannot see them going into administration but funnier things have happened, I no the online side are picking up abit after they changed it all, Like someone else mentioned probs somebody had bought the shops over there and was aloud to carry the name?Who knows now days as there has been so many changes in the gambling world its hard to keep up to date,

But yes feel sorry for people losing jobs, Its hard enough as it is,
