Hi everyone, just wanted people's opinion on something that happened to me over the weekend.

On 14/03/2015 I made an account at 21.co.uk and played some online roulette. I didn't win, fair enough I thought. I went back online shortly after to have another go and found my account was locked. I contacted them about this via email, who told me it was because of an account that I had that was already excluded. On reflection I do recall having one a while ago (years) so okay I thought. Anyway here's the email..

Hi Lee,,As a self excluded player you will never be able to open an account on any of our sites. If you are able to pass the registration stage by manipulating your registration data your account will be deemed null and void.,The refund of deposits is purely at the discretion of senior managers and cannot be guaranteed as a matter of course. I emphasise that any winnings accrued by self excluded players are never returned to them.,Any further attempts to open an account by you will lead to disappointment and may prove very expensive indeed.,We have previously sent you a list of our sister sites to guide you. If you no longer have this list please request a further copy.,,

Kind regards,
Jeff,Fraud and Risk

My problem here is that although I lost (which I didn't have a problem with), if I had won - I wouldn't have been paid. In effect the email confirms that all of my bets are voided as an excluded player. I have a huge issue with this casino being able to keep my deposits of £670 if there was no way any winnings would have been honoured. How do others feel about this? Am I right to protest?

As you said yourself...you didn't have a problem with losing and that is what you did.
I think you should accept that and move on. They don't owe you anything.

I'm glad that they earlier had sent you a list of what casinos you couldn't play on. Make sure you stay away from them in the future though or the same thing will happen again.

Thanks for your reply, surely losing where there was no opportunity to win isn't fair though? I never was sent said list he refers to by the way!

It has shown up you were self excluded so they did the right thing by locking your account. Checks obviously found this out and casino did the right thing.

As for getting deposits returned maybe you will but as you lost I don't see why they should return them.

Sorry for not sounding very sympathetic but it seems to be a constant thing now where players that are self excluded are signing up to casinos, losing and then writing on forums how they shouldn't be allowed to sign up and how casinos aren't returning deposits.

Have they actually stated they are keeping your deposits?

I had a similar experience with BetVictor some time back and they handled it the proper way. They closed the second account, emailed me and refunded the deposits. IMO it would have been acceptable for them to keep the processing charges but they didn't. I had lost as-well.

But if 21 haven't stated specifically that you are not getting your deposits back then there is no issue to answer at the moment is there?

Thanks for responding guys, i'm waiting for a response from them when their office opens tomorrow. Like I said I did lose and I was okay with that but the idea of the casino taking my money when they had no intention of paying had I won is really eating away at me, so i thought I'd post here and see if anyone had experienced similar and could tell me what i should expect to happen.

I believe that Simmo's case is actually in the UKGC rules somewhere or other, along the lines of "not take any bets on SE'd account, bets will be void, winnings not paid and deposits returned." So BetVictor acted according to the rules as I understand them.

Funnily enough, the ONLY time this ever happened to me was at Victor Chandler - and they kept the deposits!

Just to update everyone on this, 21.co.uk say they have voided my deposits so they'll be refunded. Credit where it's due!
