What's so good about the UKGC?

I think you may be referring to the following statement on the CM ratings page:
https://www.casinomeister.com/rating-system-explanation/

Jurisdiction:
Each jurisdiction is responsible for its licensees, and those jurisdictions that have benchmark standards are rated highest - those that have a laissez faire attitude or little to no infrastructure to properly handle player issues are rated lowest.

UK - highest
Isle of Man - highest
Alderney - highest
Kahnawake - highest
New Jersey - high
Gibraltar - medium
Malta - medium
Costa Rica - low
Curacao - low
Cyprus - low

I rate the UKGC up there with the IOM, Alderney, Kahnawake, as the "highest". This being in part from a combination of things - their due diligence, compliance standards, player protection (both advocacy and player safeguards), accessibility, and veracity/trustfulness. Yeah, sure it's a way for a government to collect taxes, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

New Jersey is rated "high" (not highest) since they have not really been tested yet with a complex player issue, but their compliance is quite good - they even require that their advertisers (like Casinomeister for example), are licensed (vendor's license).

Gibraltar may be great for the operators (like Malta), their track record for assisting players could be a bit better. Curacao, Cyprus, and Costa Rica are good places to take a vacation. :p

And sometimes a license is just that - we have a number of excellently run casinos listed at CM that do just fine without having their jurisdiction getting involved in any way.

Hopefully this answers your questions.
