Tuesday Afternoon my husband collapsed at our home. I nearly lost him twice that day. He is still in hospital wont be getting out for awhile. When he was in the ER they said he was having heart attack but also was seizing and possible stroke. Then through the test they did in ER they said no its his heart. Yesterday we saw the specialist. I was prepared to listen about his information on his heart. Damage and so on and what we needed to do to get him well. I mentally said to myself if he survived Tuesdays attack he is strong enough to survive anything that they will have to do. The Cardiologist came in went through some test results I listened and he explained everything to us. 3 of his arteries have blockage/plaque in them. they don't know how bad yet. More test needed however it can be something as easy as meds to a full triple bypass possibly a quad bypass because there is one artery they could not see that well on results. Ok I can deal with that like I said he faught hard on tuesday and made it through the night.

Now what I was not prepared for. When my husband collapsed he also was seizing. He is 50 years old. The specialist said there is a reason for that- he made have had a stroke that set off the heart. Or the heart caused him to stroke. I said no they said test said no stroke =he said test said no stroke at that time. So now full brain scans and function test. What floored me and scared me the most is the Dr said he never seized before in his life? We said no - he said most men 50 and over who have a seizure usually do because of brain tumor. Now this is the hard thing for me to swallow. This hit me out of no where. I would never thought of this nor do I want to.

My friends and familly keep saying oh the dr has to tell you everything but I find myself focusing on this. So please my friends I ask you say just a silent thought to your God.

Iv'e been talking to mine now for 2 days and I swear he is on vacation in Vegas.

Deep down i know we will get through what ever this may be but right now I am tired and worried and feel just a little lost. Too much info to process and to many questions to ask.

It's now 6 am here and getting ready to go back to hospital for the day, just needed a place to get my thoughts and nerves in check. Gonna be a long couple days of test and holding my breath. Feeling stronger as I write this Thank you for letting me let it out.

Remember no matter what just hug the one you love today because you just never know.

My thoughts are with you!!

and hugs!!!

He'll be fine don't worry too much. Seizures are scarier than they are. I know. My brother has epilepsy and they look worse than what they are.

I am sorry, very sorry to hear of this. The heart bit will be OK, whether it's stents or a full bypass. Graeme Souness, Johan Cruyff (famous ex-soccer players) have had this triple or quad operation in the last 10 years and are still going strong into their 50's and 60's respectively. Obviously the possibility of a brain problem is far more concerning and I hope along with you that this is not the case. Just hope it's a TIA (temporary self-clearing stroke) if anything at all.
My thoughts are with you and a positive diagnosis.
All the best.

That must have been a very frightening experience for you both, occurring in your home and having to get emergency aid, but he's now clearly in good medical hands.

I know this is easier said than done, but try not to let the fear and concern get the better of you; oftentimes in cases like this once the medical investigations are completed the problem does not seem so massive and scary...and the way ahead is clearer with decisions easier to make.

Medical science - especially on the surgical front, has advanced so far, and at 50 your husband has a good chance of coming out of this in way better condition than he went in.

In the meantime I will certainly pray for you both and wish you the strength to get through this terrible experience.

Thank you all so much. He is in MRI and I'm just waiting . Reading this gave me the energy to get through to next test. Stress test. I will try to update just for my peace of mind and your concern.

For stress test it's about 2 hours and I can't leave in case something goes wrong I downloaded lucky red mobile and I'm just gonna sit and spin. It's the only normal thing I know to do. I can't change what is happening but I have learned to des tress while I can.

Of course prayers and best wishes to you and your husband !

You will probably talk to a dietician before all is said and done. His or her job is to explain how arteries get clogged (plaques) by what is eaten or consumed. That may be the hardest part of heart disease ....... you have to drastically change the diet. And fat and salt do make food tasty, but they are not kind to arteries.

Best wishes and hope you get some sleep soon.

My prayers also are with YOU! Your husband has great medical and I am sure from your words that he has spiritual help also.

But here is my word for you---taken from my own personal experience of the past few years.

My husband also had a heart attack---quadruple bypass surgery and a pace maker defibrillator put into his heart. That was when he was in his 50s. He lived to see his 90th birthday. For most of those years, right up until the last year when his Diabetes took over and finally got the better of him, he was strong, happy and healthy.

It was these last couple years that took the toll on me, for it was constant care and trips to the hospital-----NOW---my words to YOU----besides the prayer times, there are some nutrients out there that will help get you through YOUR stress.

I am not a salesman for these---I am just passing along what I found truly helped me.

There is one called "Anxiety & Stress Essentials". It is in capsule form and put out by Natural Well Being. You can find them on the web.

There is also a chewable one, that taste kind of weird but ok, called Stress Block put out by New Vitality. These are not addictive and non narcotic.

Both of these help YOU get through the day. They don't make his problem go away, but they help you handle your stress----and believe me that helps him!

May God Bless you both and my prayers have already been sent your way!

My thoughts and prayers are with you as well - fortunately as Jetset mentioned, medical technology has advanced in leaps and bounds even over the last ten years, so the chances of him getting through this with plenty more years of driving you crazy are very good! The seizure is worrying, but try not to think the worst.

I know it's hard, but please make sure you're taking care of yourself too - at least getting sleep and eating regular meals. You won't do anyone any good by wearing yourself down and making yourself ill. Stay strong and think positive thoughts, keep us posted on developments.

Best wishes to you both.

My prayers are with you as well. I know what you are going through. My mother last year came out the bathroom going into the kitchen to fix breakfast. She felled to the floor and had a massive heart attack and passed away. Keep your head up and be positive.

Always scary and indeed, true that it is important to always hug the ones you love, and spent time with them and don't waste any of it with quarrelling over nonsense! Carpe diem, and that ad infinitum!

I am not really the praying type but i will send all my positive vibes in your direction, and i am hoping for a speedy and total recovery as well, keep your head up dear!

My prayer are with you. May all those prayer help him getting well and give you strenght!

Thoughts an prayers sent your way.

My husband had a stroke last March 2013 and it was the worst ever feeling of being lost. He is now back to work full time and doing well. HE (the man upstairs) does listen to your prayers, so keep prayng and with all these others, he cannot, not listen! Hold strong, cause your husband is going to need you now, more then ever.
