EU and petitions related to online gambling

Does anyone knows who would be responsible or to whom should I send petition related to online gambling in EU?

Is it even possible to regulate online gambling on this level?

You are a little late to the party as they published their recommendations last month:



This is essentially their position for the next few years, though court rulings are still likely to pop up now and then to complicate matters.

I got to add up that EU kind of lets the countries independant decide about thier gambling laws, so you will see vast and various varitations of online gambling restrictions in different EU states. Thouh to mention that some countries are not even regulated yet (cough Germany, cough...)

I might not be late, who knows. I will have to read through everything on those links first to be certain what bureaucrats put into definitions of 'consumers and player protection' and then see what is where. Regardless, thanks for the links and even if I am late now, this is certainly not last time we hear about online gambling from EU commission.

Lots of maybe`s at this point.

Sorry if my "late to the party" camment seemed a bit off. I didn't mean anything by it, I did not mean to be rude but was. Sorry.

I am a big advocate of people getting involved in policy making, consultations and regulation. IMHO the more consumers that say what they want/think the better...iotherwise we are left with politicians and professional industry lobbyists setting the agenda.

I am sue you are right, the EU regulation tale in this area will drag on for many years, essentially indefinitely.

Today if you are interested in shaping such rules the UK consultation here (deadline 31st Oct) is a good way in. Even if you are not UK based it is about the regulatory rules that will apply to UK licenced firms serving the whole EU market.

This was a blog piece I wrote for a poker news site. Apologies if this is too spam like, feel free to delete if it is inappropriate.

Essentially I see the UK becoming the new dominant regulator with a new polarisation between UK licenced sites aiming for white markets and non UK licenced sites looking to target grey/black markets. Obviously the piece is poker focussed but the same applies for other casino and sports.



Longer term I hope other EU countries follow the UK model and we get a reunited poker player pool and consistent standards/rules accross the EU based upon an open market.

I hope they don't go the way as Spain did..... lot of troubles here though:-(
