Went there tonight (my first time) and wow, over 150 slot machines - all the regular games and more. Didn't know where to start

Played for about three hours on the progressives (two massive banks of them, 15 in total) and row after row of Novomatic and IGT slots. All the machines are the latest version and most have a '3D' effect. Went in with £100, left with £100 although I was a hundred or so up at one point.

Very clean, plenty of slots staff and enjoyable experience.

Word of warning, if you cash-out more than £1000 you need passport and proof of address - they are very strict on that!

I know of a guy that goes to an Aspers Casino almost every night. I think it's the London location though. I've heard only good things about it :)

I went there about 3 weeks back. Friday night, very busy but was also very impressed. Even very busy you could easily get on the slots you wanted.

Would like to check it out.

What sort of slots are we talking, not your typical £500 Rainbow Riches etc you get in the arcades?

What are the min. stake/jackpots on these? Are they like online slots or more of the usual UK style slots?

You still get the UK max-bet limit of £2 and £4000 jackpots as thats the law but the variation is great. They even have a few WMS games like Jackpot Party (not too many of the big ones but probably more later in the year when the WMS multi-game kiosks come out), stacks of IGT games of course and loads of Gaminators. They even have jackpot Gaminators. So Book Of Ra, Katana, Dolphins Peal, Cleo 1 and 2, Siberian Storm, Fire Opals, lil Lady, Pharaohs Fortune of course and shedloads more.

Aspers Casino London Review

I visited Aspers in London recently. Fitting for a "Super Casino", it is indeed huge. The crowed was younger, on average, than in other casinos in London city-center (Palm-Beach, Napoleon, The Empire). The limits were according to British standards. I was surprised to see that they had a Crap table. I posted a full review of the casino here: *snip*

Do the machines not pay cash then?

I have never heard of this elsewhere in the UK, and the £500 limit is not far off the £1000, yet could easily be a means to launder money.

If one was going to launder money, one would not go near this casino, but would use the Motorway services where £500 payouts are available, and the zones attended mostly by shop staff by CCTV. All they are going to see is someone feeding in notes and winning coins, which can now be changed back up to notes in many places thanks to a "reverse change machine".

One could launder significant sums of cash this way, and I am sure it is done, but there is no one looking for this. The main concern is people robbing the machines, or using fake notes and coins, which is pretty hard to detect over CCTV.

They should perhaps extend this to the £500 jackpot machines so that they pay a cashable slip, which would need a proof of ID to encash. Even the regular fruit machines can be used, I have seen players sit there for hours. Are they playing £500, or laundering £500 in "dirty" notes for around £400 in clean ones, and accepting the loss due to the RTP as the costs involved.

The casino would also want to see something on the way IN surely, so as to prevent under age gambling.

Nice writeup, pretty sure the Vic has a craps table too, no one was playing it when I went yet all the other table games were packed.
Am I right in thinking casinos are heavily restricted on the amount of slot games they can have? The Vic doesn't have very many considering it's size and they are almost always busy.

There are limits, unlike Vegas, so 150 is probably the most they are allowed to have on one site. The jackpots are also capped, although this may only apply to non progressives.

Here is the answer to your question directly from the UK Gambling Commission website:

"Land-based casinos are entitled to provide a certain number of gaming machines depending on the type of operating licence they hold. Large casino (machine/table ratio of 5-1 up to maximum) are limited to Maximum of 150 machines. Small casinos (machine/table ratio of 2-1 up to maximum) Maximum of 80 machines"

The Aspers qualifys as a "large casino" and therefor can place up to 150 machines on its premises.

By the way, it is a relatively small number comparing with other European casinos. For example, off the top of my head, the Perla casino in Nova Gorica has over 1,200 slots, Casino Loutraki has over 1,000 slots. But there are many more example of casinos with over 150 slots.

Went to the super casino at Stratford tonight and they have well over 100 of these new £10,000 slots and at least 30 £20,000 progressive slots :D:notworthy

Kinda takes the thrill out of playing online now as you can win life changing money and be paid instantly

BTW, as OP commented. You can cash out £1500 via a slot host or using the automated machine. Any more, you need your passport.

Went back there the other day. They have got rid of 4 of the WMS machines including Jewels of Africa which is my favorite. I did win £90 on Cash coaster though.

Pop in today as I was at Westfield and haven't been in there for a while. They have move all the slot machines around again. They have taken out the last 4 WMS machines aswell as Elvis and Sex and the city which is annoying. Hopefully they will put some WMS mulitgame machines in soon. I did manage to win some money and found some new games which I like so not all bad.

Thanks for the update. Haven't been there for a few months. Never seen any WMS machines there?

Personally I think there is way to many Novomatic slots in there. More variety pleas :)

This might seem like a daft question, but.....

I haven't been there yet and am considering making the trip down. How much more different are the machines compared to your average local casino? What sort of variety?

When it first opened it have quite a few WMS machines 3 spin streak: Bamboozled, Jewls of Africa and The monkees. Super jackpot party, Jackpot block party, Lucky Lemmings, Crystal forest and summer solstice. But they have all been removed.

The same as Most uk casinos. They have multi game machines (novomatic, IGT). They used to have some single game machines Elvis, Sex and city and Star Wars but these have all gone.

Headed to Aspers today, liking the new plastic glasses (linked to above post!) :p

Lots of new £20,000 slots including King Kong progressives since my last visit and they have linked dozens more IGT terminals to the Fort Knox progressive. Doubled my money (£500) on the Novomatic games, hit a very lucky streak and walked out a happy girl. In future I will visit during office hours, much quieter and had a chance to relax in the empty bar.

Aspers experience

went to aspers stratford with a pal of mine and decided to combine forces so we pooled our funds together and shared out our wins :D

evening went well and got off to a flyer by getting the 3 pots on rainbow riches on the first 20 quid landed the gold pot 340.00

then went on a bit of a roller_coaster ride winning a few and loosing a few but thats the way it goes.....as it was my m8s turn to drive we had a few in the sky bar (or at least i did.....) and we went home over a hundred quid up each also taking into account the bar bill and parking and something to eat...so a good night, and great fun.

btw we was advised to become a member there as if you win a large jackpot you will be limited into how much you can take away with you if your not members there...strange but the membership is free ....go figure:confused:

you will need some id though to get membership

anyway best of luck for anyone going there....

I was told that if your winnings were over £1500 you needed ID. They have never said you need to be a member to collect larger winnings.

just been on aspers terms and conditions page on their web site but cant seem to find the rules on membership and cashing in on big wins.....

but was advised by aspers staff to get membership as this could effect a big payout....so we was told ....:eek2:

anyhow....we had a good time......oh just forgot....me and me pal went walk-abouts to sus the place we wandered over to the poker tables at that point the dealers nearest to us suddenly slammed his hands on the card deck and gave us a strong look...:(

i take it that we shouldnt of gone there.....lol talk about make you feel unwelcome

Also worth noting, that if you do win over the £1500, you can use any slot machine to split your winnings (i.e. get two or more cash-out tickets) and then claim it at one of the many self-service machines and/or cash-out desk. What I do when I go over. I ain't giving my details and finger prints to anyone!
