With the Grand Slam tournament fast approaching I was wondering what other players stratagies might be.
I think that with a possible coin buy including continues being 22.k
and the number of player looking to be around the 6000 mark that you would have to achieve around 50k to be in the money,100k to be into serious money and the winner will probably be in the 150k - 200k range which could only happen if someone gets the 5 scatters or wilds in free spins which hard as it is , could happen with that number of players, quite a few of which will be doing multiple rebuys.
I wont start playing till after the first week, just keeping my eye on the leader board. At that stage it should be clearer what type of score needs to be achieved to at least clear the entry/continue costs and give some idea of the round by round scores you need to be getting to make it worthwhile continuing.I have a limited bankroll and will probably go as far as the 3 continues a couple of times and hope luck is with me.
I would think that there are quite a few syndicates out there with large bankrolls organized and ready to go, but I hope the million goes one of the regular players and it would be nice if it was a forum member.
However it turns out, it should be fun and good luck to everyone.

I've not looked, but what is the rebuy cost and coins/time given?

Continues cost 20 each, same for rebuys. 3 continues max.
Continue playtime is half an hour, but thats not really relevant, as you only get 4500 coins, thats 5 minutes of play at maxbet.

At maxbet, the top payouts are:

5 wilds in FS 112.500
5 scatters in FS 90.000
5 wilds 37.500
5 scatters 30.000

So I think if you hit 5 scatters in free spins you're definately in for the big money.
Tomb Raider is a very low variance slot, I've watched most of the tourneys top-15 rankings this weekend and have not seen a score over 40.000.
So the chances somebody hits more then one of those biggies are extremely small, especially because the number of continues is so limited.
Good thing, everybody has a fair chance of winning now.:)

I have seen a couple of 100k scores on the 20k weekenders in the past, bearing in mind that 10 times more people will be playing this and with 999
rebuys,I could imagine a few people reaching 100k+.
Think the best idea is let it run for a while and see what the targets are

This is part of the problem. Which "knockout" score is no longer worth chasing due to the very low chance of beating it compared to the risk of piling in with ever more 20 contributions to MGS's coffers.

Loaded would probably have been a better game for this event, due to it being higher variance, and it being less predictable what score would be considered an "unbeatable knockout" by most players.

I have found it very hard to get a good score on this game because of the low variance, generally, you are picking up sets of idols, and poor paying free spin rounds. Even 5 Lara's pays only 2500 coins at max bet, and is NOT multiplied by a wild.

There are some pretty rare combo's though, get one of these in the first round, and it is definitely worth going all the way. Other times, it is a hard call how far past 9000 coins in the first round is worth playing on with, and which is worth abandoning.

Of these rare combos, there is the 4 wilds for 10,000 coins (30,000 in free spins). It is also possible to get the 5 Lara's on 2 winlines at once (using a wild), which pays 5000 coins (15000 in free spins).

Because of the number of players involved, it is likely that there will be first rounds including these kinds of hits, which players will continue with.

I have had a complete "knockout" score only once - 5 scatters, but sadly only in a $60 freeroll:mad:

It may even be worth holding back in the first few days, to see how the scores develop, before piling in, only to see your once great score pushed further and further down.

Mathematicians could probably calculate a "perfect strategy" for this event based on the game, coins allowed, and number of players. There would have to be a few assumtions, and you would have to disregard human nature, or the "chase" syndrome where deep pocketed players would continue to chase all the way through the 999 rebuys.

rebuys vs continues

I just need a small clarification what is the difference with these two terms.

I am assuming the following:

Rebuys means that your score starts back at zero ( another kick at the cat )

Continues mean that your score remains the same, and is added too when buy a continue ( an add-on )

This makes sense to me.....

I'm probably the biggiest donkiest donkey donk in slots tourneys here.

I didn't know that after rebuy the score resets to ZERO!:eek2::eek:

I thought that rebuy gives some playtime itself and making a rebuy players "buys a right" for 3 continues. No?

Or "3 continue plays per rebuy" means that if you're not happy with your current rebuy+3ContPl results you are able do it all over again but starting from ZERO ?

Then continue plays are more useful.

If you wanna call me a moron, don't be shy,DO IT!

Oh yeah .I've played in GetRebuys Freerols with free rebuys/continues.

Well,I made a "rebuy " but it seems my previous score wasn't replaced by a new one.

You still have unlimited options(up to 999) to call me a moron:lolup:
