I don't know about anyone else... But in my opinion this medical insurance system we have is broken and needs to fixed... NOW!

Hospitals are there to cure sick people... Not to line the pockets of a bunch of friggin fat cat Insurance executives.

No more delay... Health Care Reform has been being worked on by our incompetent (and paid off) politicos for 30 years now and we are in worse shape than ever.

We have people dieing and suffering in this country everyday.. because Big Business is running health care instead of the Doctors and the medical community.

I'd also like to add, that when you see these advertisements on TV and radio that tell you health care reform is going to fast... Ask yourself, just who is paying all the millions and millions of dollars required to run those advertisements.

Do you think it is just concerned citizens (cough bullshit) or do you think these millions and millions of dollars for advertisements against Health Care Reform are coming from the Insurance industry? They sure have a lot of money to spend and a vested interest in continuing to keep all that money from health care lining their pockets.

So you want to do away with Medicare?

Medicare is a Government run health insurance program that helps millions and millions of people.
I think you already know this.

The idea that a government run program is 'bad' is nothing but political talking points, financed by the Insurance companies. We have already have a government run health care program that works.

No i do not want to see Medicare taken away, your getting me all wrong, my parents as well as many senior Americans paid for this by many many hard years of work , it is something they earned, not just handed out to them.

I think the goverment should regulate these insurance companies, if im forced to provide coverage to my small group of employees, then i will have to cut back my work force as well as many other small mom and pop companys, this affects everyone, just not those without coverage.

I think reform on insurance should be handled on a state level, keep the damn goverment out of our personal lives and out of our pocketbooks....just my 2 cents..............laurie

Ahh the government is never going to get out of our pockets, no matter who is running things... Remember that old saying about Death and Taxes...

But for my 2 cents. I would rather have a government ran health care than what we currently have with the insurance companies running things.

The insurance companies are the real bad guys in this whole thing. They are the ones that deny treatment and refuse services and ration health care and pocket huge sums of money.

Side note: You know how the Insurance business started?

There used to be a couple of guys with bent noses that would show up at your home or business and tell you that if you didn't pay 'insurance' or 'protection' money to them your home or business would be sure to burn down and/or you or your one of your family would be sure to have a real bad accident.

These 'wise guys' are the same guys that are currently running our health care system, they just wear nicer and more expensive suits these days...

I'd rather have the corrupt politicos running things, at least then we can get rid of them when they get out of control.

[added] - I just had to cancel a medical procedure that my Dr. tells me is needed to prolong my life, because my private insurance company won't cover it and the Dr. and Hospital want 10's of thousands of dollars upfront before they will do anything. (If I were on the government run Medicare system the procedure I need would be covered, well at least 80% of it) So this is very very personal to me.

And you might just be dead before you qualify for it by the government standards if it passes. You will be on a list and if you are not sick enough, you will be on a waiting list. If it is a surgery that is elective that is not necessary by THEIR terms then you will be the last on the list even if it is to save your life!

They also have a statement in the bill saying anyone 65 and over MUST take end of life classes etc...How is that for government healthcare!

If you are over 65 , they want to inform you of your choices if your are ill..such as no health care..or they can let you die because it is more cost effective! Read it..the preliminary bill..it is sick!

My husband and I work very hard and live paycheck to paycheck to have good healthcare....how about the government start shutting down all the freebie give me's that so many live on for generation after genration...such as welfare, food stamps, section 8 free housing etc and use that TAX money we pay into to cover health care for the indigents instead of the sweat off my back in tax dollars??

I am so tired of people always TAKING from the few others that work their butts off to pay their taxes with all these give me programs..what will this country do when we workers suddenly realize we are outnumbered by the takers 8 to 2??? for every 2 workers there are 8 out there holding their hands out to take from them!?? By that I mean, all the social programs set up for freebies..when those 2 % realize they can't do it anymore, then WHO will be left to take from to support those that feel entitled ???? Maybe it is time for us workers to quit working too and get on the list of TAKERS!

Then no one will be left to give...then we will all be up the creek now won't we?

lauriejim, you are not alone in thinking that it's time for others to step up to the plate and take care of their own instead of demanding to be taken care of by the government...I think many fail to understand, it is NOT the government that they are bleeding dry, it is the lowly taxpayer such as us that go to work everyday and work 40-60 hours just to survive...

This tax bill is NOT the answer...it is a noose around the necks of the working class...we will end up drowning in taxation to support those that choose to live off of the government who IS the taxpayer!

Geez....being from a communist country and seeing how the government can control people and abuse them.....many are starting to fall for the same lines here in the USA..we do NOT need this, we need to be accountable for OURSELVES and stop sucking off the ones that do give!

I am all for equality as a whole..if you worked and put into the pot, you deserve as good as I but if you have sat back and got fat off my back..you do not deserve anything.....if you are an able bodied person!

At least I'd be on a waiting list instead of just flat being told by the Insurance company, no we don't give a shit if you die(they really didn't say that, they just said no, but the attitude is the same). That attitude is really hard to take after paying them hundreds and hundreds of dollars a month for years and years and years and never recovering even a small percent of what the premiums cost me.

As far the 'end of life' classes thing... unfortunately there are a lot of extremists on both sides that are looking to rile people up... That end of life provision is only one paragraph in one bill out of three. Only one of those bills is going to become law and they are still in the PROCESS of making the law. I think we all know something like that would never be made into law.

I know how you feel about feeling like your paying more than your fair share. I am a self employed small business who's earnings mostly come from outside the US... They friggen kill me with taxes on both the State and Federal.

But what really makes me angry is the corporate welfare. These major corporations that pay NOTHING in taxes and actually get subsides, grants and no bid contracts(tax money) from the government.Then they prey on the American public and steal us blind and move all our jobs to slave labor in china.

Personally, if they are going to spend my tax money on welfare, I'd rather feed some hungry kid or homeless person than help to pay for some corporate executives new Ferrari with my tax money.

The trouble with governments, states and municipalities - any government really - is that the folks running things don't have to actually get out there in a tough world and physically earn the money they are so profligate in spending.

So the demand for more tax from that part of the populace that pays it's dues always increases.

And the trouble with socialist-leaning governments is that they are more concerned about doing the politically correct and often overly humanitarian thing to exercise more care over the tax dollars for which they should be held accountable.

The other worrying aspect of governments is the tendency to spend more than they "earn" from the taxpayers, resulting in excessive borrowing which imo is mortgaging the future and creating problems for our inevitably aging population and coming generations.

Governments are increasingly getting into debt of frightening proportions and seem incapable of living within their means in the interests of more and more politically grandiose initiatives, monumentally expensive screw-ups, foreign aid (charity begins at home imo)....and horrendously expensive foreign wars, the necessity for which is another interesting debate.

Consider how much social spending could achieve if the tens of billions spent on warfare, upfucks and foreign aid could be redirected....or, horror of horrors, used to give the tax-payer a break LOL!
