1.12 - Postings that incite fraudulent player activity are not welcome and will probably be deleted. Members who encourage fraud will probably be kicked to the curb.

So you want to mask your IP from MG casinos. Go for it

And I encourage you and your fraudster friends to PAB or post your woes when your accounts are locked; it's always refreshing to bust out and rag on fraudsters.

It's like shooting Coke bottles with a BB gun. :sniper:

hi

just found this article. read it and get on with it. i think it is possible to hide the ip address...but what for???;)

How do I hide my IP address?

The most common method to hide your IP address is to use a proxy server in one form or another. A proxy server is a computer that offers a computer network service to allow clients to make indirect network connections to other network services. A client connects to the proxy server, then requests a connection, file, or other resource available on a different server. The proxy provides the resource either by connecting to the specified server or by serving it from a cache. In some cases, the proxy may alter the client's request or the server's response for various purposes.
There are several implementations of proxy servers that you can use to hide your IP address (in an attempt to remain anonymous on the internet):

Website Based Proxy Servers
A Website based proxy server is a website that provides a form for you to enter the URL of a website that you wish to anonymously visit. When you submit the form the website proxy server makes a request for the page that you want to visit. The machine usually does not identify itself as a proxy server and does not pass along your IP address in the request for the page. The features of these sites vary (ad blocking, javascript blocking, etc) as does their price. Some are free and some charge. Examples of website proxy services are:

Proxify.com
Browser Configured Proxy Servers

There are also stand along proxy servers that allow for you to configure your browser to route your browser traffic through that machine, which then makes a request for a page on your behalf, and then sends you the results. These are usually used at no cost to the user. Since they are accessible to the public these are often quite slow. Please see instructions for using a proxy server. There are a variety of types of these proxy servers:

Transparent Proxy - This type of proxy server identifies itself as a proxy server and also makes the original IP address available through the http headers. These are generally used for their ability to cache websites and do not effectively provide any anonymity to those who use them. However, the use of a transparent proxy will get you around simple IP bans. They are transparent in the terms that your IP address is exposed, not transparent in the terms that you do not know that you are using it (your system is not specifically configured to use it.) This type of proxy server does not hide your IP address.

Anonymous Proxy - This type of proxy server identifies itself as a proxy server, but does not make the original IP address available. This type of proxy server is detectable, but provides reasonable anonymity for most users. This type of proxy server will hide your IP address.

Distorting Proxy - This type of proxy server identifies itself as a proxy server, but make an incorrect original IP address available through the http headers. This type of proxy server will hide your IP address.

High Anonymity Proxy - This type of proxy server does not identify itself as a proxy server and does not make available the original IP address. This type of proxy server will hide your IP address.
Installed Software Proxy Servers

There are a variety of companies and software packages available at either a one time cost or at an annual subscription. These are usually faster and more reliable than the above proxy servers. Some of these services would include:

Anonymizer.com's Anonymous Surfing
GhostSurf 2007 Platinum
Hide My IP
TOR (free)

Anonymous Proxy Risks
In using a proxy server (for example, anonymizing HTTP proxy), all data sent to the service being used (for example, HTTP server in a website) must pass through the proxy server before being sent to the service, mostly in unencrypted form. It is therefore possible, and has been demonstrated, for a malicious proxy server to record everything sent to the proxy: including unencrypted logins and passwords.

By chaining proxies which do not reveal data about the original requester, it is possible to obfuscate activities from the eyes of the user's destination. However, more traces will be left on the intermediate hops, which could be used or offered up to trace the user's activities. If the policies and administrators of these other proxies are unknown, the user may fall victim to a false sense of security just because those details are out of sight and mind.

The bottom line of this is to be wary when using proxy servers, and only use proxy servers of known integrity (e.g., the owner is known and trusted, has a clear privacy policy, etc.), and never use proxy servers of unknown integrity. If there is no choice but to use unknown proxy servers, do not pass any private information (unless it is properly encrypted) through the proxy.

I hate to be mean...or treat anyone that negatively, but I just can't help but suspect "shadiness" here, so (in the miracle .000001% chance it is for anything OTHER than fraud)... my apologies.

Otherwise, consider my comment meek and mild (from what I really could say)

hi

How do I hide my IP address?

Why......oh why did you post the info for the idiot?

If someone has a legitimate need to use a proxy they are probably smart enough to google for the answer themselves.

ok prob. over my head as i am a pewter dummy had it not been for friends on c/m helping me i would not have come this far. i know ip addy is for internet provider i think? but what all does it tell about someone:oops: i know dummy ?....sorry..................laurie

The IP is specific to your computer. Every device connected to the internet has it's own IP address.

Think of it as similar to your street address. The IP address tells other computers who is asking for the information and where to send the information they are requesting to.

I personally can't see why they would want to hide their IP. Any bonuses would be tied to the username not the IP so changing the IP wouldn't let them abuse bonuses.

Heck, if you don't have a broadband connection, each time you connect you have a new IP so there's got to be another reason..just can't think of what it would be. Seems pointless.

Hi Lauriejim.......you aren't a pewter dummy! There isn't any need to know stuff like this unless the tech side of computers interests you. Most people just want to turn the pewter on and do what they need or want to do and be done with it and hey that is fine. Me......I'm a little nerdy. ;) I don't know much but maybe a little more than average.

Anyway....here is a definition of what an IP addy is and what it does. Whenever you sign on to the net your ISP assigns your computer a address. Example.......655.155.256. This address is specific to your ISP and your computer, (although the address can change at your next log in). Anytime you visit a website your IP addy is visible to that website. Some websites keep stats on what part of world visits them. The IP addy identifies what ISP you are using and what area of the country you are in. Pretty harmless stuff usually. If you would like to look up your own address just out of curiosity here is a link.
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.
You can then do a who is look up and it should tell you who your ISP is and a broad definition of where you are.

Some people want to hide their IP.......sometimes for good reasons, say you live in a (country such as China) so they use a proxy service or it can be used for not good purposes like trying to rip off a casino or hiding your identity if you are downloading kiddie porn.
Like most things it can be used for good or bad.

From what I know, most casinos wont even allow you to connect, if they cant establish a valid, non-proxy IP address. Using Proxy servers are in most cases also useless, since the validity of the player would be under question, and that is never good for the casino.

I think the next time you get the urge to ask a stupid question - take a minute, look at the reason why you ask it and if it's not a damned good and legal reason for it - don't ask it. If by chance it happens to be legit, post all the reasons behind you asking it...

I have Broadband, and my ISP uses proxy servers to make the connections between me and any website I visit. The purpose of the proxy servers is mainly to cache websites, but another thing they use them for is "load balancing". All customers have dynamically allocated IP addresses each time they log on to the internet, which happens each time the cable modem is turned on. The IP address can also change mid session if the lease has to be renewed - this, I am told, should NOT affect the user in any way unless something goes wrong with the process.

For these reasons, IP address is not how casinos detect and verify players.

The main reason why a fraudster might want to hide an IP address is to hide the COUNTRY they are playing from. They could then claim a bigger bonus, or avoid a country ban on play, it then follows, of course, that they could then attempt to sign up multiple accounts, using a different IP RANGE for each one, making sure their personal details fit.

It is unlikely to work, since there is other information that can be gathered from your access to the casino server that would reveal that the IP addresses were faked.

This poster should be informed that they have just supplied Casinomeister with their TRUE IP address when they created their account, and posted this question. This will make it impossible for them to subsequently learn how to hide IP & defraud a casino by making a complaint through PAB backed up by accompanying false info. This IP can be checked to see whether false details were given, location for example, when creating the Casinomeister account.

Most people do NOT have a static IP. Most consumers in Europe use ADSL connections, theese are not sold with static IPs but dynamic ones. This means that your IP will change pretty often, and many times when rebooting your modem. However, you are still in the same sub-range.

I have never tried, obvious reasons, but it would be very easy for MG to also supply the login session with some hardware checksums and such. If that's the case you are pretty much sold - but most likely not before you withdraw, :D

Anyways, think of a dial up-connection - here the IP will change each and every time, so changing IP doesn't really help you much.

What is sure however, they do use the IP to map against your registration. Meaning, if you register in say Sweden and play from a Norwegian connection your account will be closed down - I know since I tried that. (business trips with laptop between Norway and Sweden). So there are measures installed here, however they are clearly in the players interest.

I cannot see why you would want to change your IP, there is no reason. Unless you are om vacation, you would probably want a proxy from your local town. However - if on vacation, why not enjoy the vacation and wager when you get home, :D
