UK Online Gamblers Demand More Information from Gambling Sites

UK internet gamblers want the newly formed Gambling Commission to play a stronger role ahead of the adoption of the Gambling Act according to a recent survey. They also want more information from the gambling sites themselves.

The survey commissioned by casino games inventor Prime Table Games found that 73% of gamblers thought that online gambling sites should make clear if their site is run by a third party service provider. 30% were completely opposed to gambling brands outsourcing their online operations.

Commissions paid to affiliates concerned 81% of respondents who said that online casinos should state when money is being paid to an affiliate. 44% said they would be less likely to play at a site where money wagered was shared with affiliates.

Gamblers also felt that casinos should license the proprietary games they offer with 80% wanting this backed up by legislation. In the US, an online gaming site is now faced with paying several million dollars to a games inventor that took legal action to protect its intellectual property.

Plans to establish a kite mark showing that a casino is licensed and regulated in the UK proved popular with 67% of gamblers saying theyd prefer a UK approved site to one based overseas. The first UK based internet casinos are expected to appear in late 2007 as the Gambling Act comes into force.

Commenting on the results head of Prime Table Games, Derek Webb said, Gamblers have clear expectations of how online gaming should operate. Its vital that as the industry redefines itself in the light of the Gambling Act that the Gambling Commission aims to meet those expectations.
