Its probably not that common as usually the comments here are people taking breaks when they lose.

I guess maybe I look at things differently?

I had a win on ladbrokes for $960

A couple wins on gaming club/jackpot city for about $300 profit

Win of $57 on butlers

Lost about $300 on inet casinos (BGO, guts, videoslots)

Won $120 on gaming club

Won $250 on jackpot city.

Took a break.

I havent even had the urge to play really and its been a couple weeks since ive played.

I guess I look at it like ive been incredibly lucky and soon enough my luck will change. So why not take a break now

Anyone else do this?

Actually I have to admit I do have a hiatus when I've had a good win/cashout. I wait for the money, think of what I am going to spend it on or how I'm going to allocate it. I then don't play again until I've spent it or saved it, and when I do I fund the next play out of my normal budget for gaming when it comes around and not the winnings I've cashed.
So, you ain't alone! I can understand why Mrmark21 thinks it's odd though to do this.....

Absolutely yes. Well - a break from the casino I won at anyway.

I wish I could do this more often actually - I've lost count I've started with something under 150, got it up to 500+ and NOT stopped.
Good luck doesn't last for ever and is not that easy to find, so you need to make the most of it when it happens.

While not a break entirely, I did set some deposit limits when I won $11K, as it was paid by installments, and I needed to make a $10,000 payment on my property, and I had to do it one shot. I recently cleaned out saved emails a little while ago, and my request to lift the limits said that I had spent all my winnings wisely, and I could resume playing as usual.

I've said more than once however, sometimes it's worse when you are winning. It can be very time consuming, and even if it takes weeks or months, and even if you cash enough of it to be ahead, it can be depressing to think just how much you could have had. If you blow it quickly because you go on tilt, that's an even worse feeling.

A few days off waiting can be a cooldown period for sure. If I'm at a B&M, I'll head back to the room if I'm staying, or maybe the buffet if I'm not.

I think I should remember that the next time lady luck smiles on me. I know I haven't had a cashout anywhere since Skrill left end of January.. Mind you, my budget has had a few bumpty bumps recently, so my play has not been frequent.

I agree. I like to enjoy the money and buy things I like/need/want with 'free money' instead of winning almost a grand and blowing it right back. For example when I was up $450 on a $100 deposit my stop point was $350 and Id quit and enjoy the winnings. I even tried card games, roulette and scratch cards.

The thing for me is I played a heck of a lot in this period of time in quite a few casinos. I really got my fill for excitement and entertainment. I played so many slots so many spins, so many games.. Im just glad to be up.

I still havent played and still have no interest, I think its going to be awhile before I do. I still read the forums though and look at winning screenshots.

My budget is small so I only gamble once a week or every other week. When I win I usually deposit a small portion of the win on another casino. The rest of the money I use for other things I need or pay some bills ahead. I have had one win over 500 and none over 1,000 since August so I guess if I have another big win I would probably keep a little play money and save the rest or get a new computer (it would have to be a good win for that):D

If I get a big win (over 1,000 for me) I will refer back to this thread to strengthen my resolve to spend it on nice things:thumbsup:

i take a break when i win enough. for deposit under 75 i happily take 300. for rare occasions when i dep 100, i stop at 500. if im ahead with 50-100 over my fixed number then i go big bets such 3.00 on IR or 1.80 on BDBA. one thing is for sure, i don;t play for fun factor but to multiply my money and for adrenaline that comes trying to succeed. thats why im not interested in new releases, old good ones being enough. i also play for fun but at corner cafebar 50 meters away from home, old and new novomatics. online i miss casino atmosphere, buttons and real money in my hands so i never fully enjoyed this experience being lets say sterile.

If I get a nice win, that's going to make a difference, I normally wait until I receive the money. Then I use the winnings very quickly for things such as paying off a credit card bill.

For instance I had a nice win yesterday and I was waiting until next Friday for payday, before paying off my credit card bill. But now I'm paying it as soon as the winnings hit my account. That way I won't be gambling it again and I still have to wait until I get paid, before I'll gamble again.

Well, the posts above this especially Jasmine's concerning 'feeling sick after being 1k ahead and going on tilt and blowing it...' makes me feel the need to restate 'Dunover's know-when-you're-done rule'.......

I follow this almost religiously. Two things you need to know to make it work for you - firstly, don't be afraid to cash-out small if you deposit small and secondly, don't set targets of many x your deposit in the first place.

It's quite simple. I deposit say £50 and am prepared to lose it all unless I double it.
OK, so I hit £100 so having doubled it at this point the 75% rule comes in.
The £100 is noted mentally as the trigger point, so now I will quit and cash-out if I get down to £75. This means I have made a 50% raise on my £50 deposit. No problem, it's good profit to me. If the run continues and instead of going straight back down from £100 to £75 I climb to £140, then the 75% of peak-balance becomes £105, and this becomes my cash-out point, and so-on and so-on.

This means I can have some playtime and cash-out a profit. I find it helps discipline and psychologically prevents 'tilting' as I am conscious of a stop-point in advance of hitting it.

Some of you may find it a good idea I hope! :)

Yup anytime I get up I always set a stopping point. Especially if its a nice win. Because they are sorta rare and blowing it back would make me feel like a dummy :p

I probably...well ok....I definitely need to be applying rules such as your 75% rule to my slotting. Or taking an approach similar to what ChopleyIOM does in his videos IE waste ZERO time looking for and finding that cashout button once the WR target is achieved.

Lockinlove may well be onto a good thing by stopping when running good. I know there have been times where I wished I had taken stock/a step back when running good. But I am one of those people who gets a little too caught up in the joyful moment(s) of a hot winning streak or a single big win. To the extent that I get a feeling of over-confidence or even "invincibility". Next thing I know, I end up feeling like the hare who realises he is about to lose to a tortoise and I end up cursing myself for the arrogance/stupidity/naivety I was guilty of. It's got to the point where I think I might need to put a lot of post it notes across the top of my laptop to help me "slot smarter".

I sometimes wonder if 41 is my age....or my slotting IQ
