Return to Player (
RTP) is the term casinos use to describe the percentage of all the wagered money a VLT or slot machine will pay back to players over time.
If you were the only person playing a single slot machine the actual pre-set
RTP settings could take millions of spins to achieve. Anything could happen in the short term. Someone might visit a slot game and after a single one dollar spin win five thousand dollars having an
RTP of five thousand percent. Another player will visit the same machine and after wagering five thousand dollars have zero.
The tricky part is all those shitty small returns like one or two times the bet you hit endlessly which mean nothing more then another pull or two extending your sessions count towards the
RTP's.
Slot machines are the biggest money maker's for casinos. This is why most players that spend a lot of time and money at casinos prefer games that include a proven strategy that lowers the house edge, and usually won't go near a slot machine. This doesn't mean that their going to be winners. It just means they lose slower over the same period of time.
Then on the other side of the coin a slot player might have a chance of being the lucky person that hits a massive jackpot and gets to experience a life changing win, like a lottery winner. A table player with a normal bankroll would rarely if ever share that experience.
A casino gambler is like the old California gold rush miners. Thousands and thousands of people flocked their to become rich, but only a handful left
not broke.
Remember, Las Vegas casinos weren't built by paying winners.
