Casinos in General only practice and market their responsible gambling programs because it is the norm and the 'politically / morally' correct thing to do. Almost ALL Casinos make the majority of their money from problem gambling.
As you mentioned, you cannot afford to gamble and once gambling starts taking your rent and food money, its time to give it a break. I know it might be difficult for you to stop immediately, but try and limit your deposits to smaller amounts and play smaller to limit your losses.
I would suggest that you even set yourself a cashout target (a very small and reasonable one) and try to get out while you are ahead. We all play for that 'Big Hit', but in reality, it may never come. The best is to go 'Cold Turkey' and just stop playing.
I would recommend you occupy yourself with something when you feel like gambling and even go out instead of sitting at the PC.
Good Luck, I hope you are able to kill the habit, I know of many who never did and ended up losing everything.
