A question for Rob Rival

I just played paigow poker at a Rival casino and the dealer had the following hands:

1/
Dealer:
Low hand- AT
High Hand-KK443

Player:
Low hand- 88
High Hand: AAJ56
Result: Push

2/
Dealer:
Low Hand- 22
High Hand- KK3T and a Joker

Player:
Low Hand- K3
High Hand- Flush
Result: Push


3/
Dealer:
Low Hand- KT
High Hand- 99662

Player:
Low Hand- 88
High Hand- AA267
Result- push

4/
Dealer:
Low Hand- 88
High Hand- 99K73

Player:
Low Hand- AQ
High Hand- 222J8
Result- Push


Now it seems that the banker's hands are similar for 1 and 2 and also for 3 and 4 but they are set differently that had been disadvantageous to the player at least for hands 2,3 and 4. The difference in the way the cards are set for hands 1 and 2 are outrageous. Can Robrival please comment. Other members may also wish to comment as well.

I see what you mean - that's awful!
It appears that the 'dealer' looks at what you have & is setting his cards in the best way to make sure you don't win.
I have definitely never seen anything like this on any other software.
Don't Rival publish the dealer's rules anywhere?

I thought the dealer had to follow the house way rules, while the player can choose to accept this or make their own hand up.
4 hands is far too little to determine whether the dealer is just following an odd rule, or is really actively arranging the cards after the player has chosen their hands.
I have only played this at MG, but I know there are many pushes in the game, so four in a row is not all that odd.

From my observation here. I am guessing that the house rules are like this. All casinos in Vegas has their own rules and there are no fixed rules for Pai Gow Poker.

Being someone who plays quite a lot of PaiGow, I do see a small FLAW in their software but then again, in Chuchu's case there's not much problem there. From what I see here is that they consider 2pair like the same rank as Ace+something. That's why they split it.

Most casinos when have 2 pairs will split except the time where they have a MEDIUM PAIR + HIGH PAIR and Ace+Something. Some casinos will not split those and only play the Ace+Something up top.

I am guessing that MEDIUM PAIR over here is 3-7 and HIGH PAIR is 8-Ace. When you have 2 HIGH PAIRS, they will definitely be split no matter if you have Ace+Something or not.

My only problem that I see is that I see a flaw in programming on their side. This it on a FUN MODE play.

Dealer has 45678K+Joker(R)
Dealer hand is set as :
2nd Hand - 8K
1st Hand - 4567R

The flaw is that 45678 + RK is better a hand than their set hand. From this conclusion, I would advice EVERYONE not to play on their PaiGow Poker until they have sorted out their rules on that game and publish it out for the public to see. As far as I know, they do not have any rules published anywhere and everything right now is just a guessing game.

vinylweatherman : Although this is just 1 Flaw, it is enough to convince me and I hope the rest that they should NOT PLAY the game till RIVAL gets their software rules straight!!!

As if chuchu's post was not enough, that screenshot proves beyond doubt that their PaiGow is definitely not programed correctly!
I hope Rob sees this ASAP & does something about it.

Hi all,

Admittedly, there was a flaw, as aodat2 and others have pointed out. Our developers have revisited the House Way algorithm and have pushed the update to production. I can confirm that the software was *not* using the player's hand choice when calculating the dealer's hands. In fact, the same House Way algorithm is used for the Dealer's hand choices AND the player's "House Way Recommendation" when the user clicks the House Way button. Therefore the flaw in the algorithm was noticed by both the dealer and the player's House Way.

For clarification, the rules are posted in the help file of the game.

I am having yet another issue along with my login problems.

Every time I do something in the cashier, the 'exit cashier' bar becomes greyed out and the only way to get back to the games is to shut the casino down and re login again - which for me can mean another 5 minutes.

Anyone else having this problem?

I also note the promotions are taking a long time to load up.

I have a similar problem. The cashier operations and exiting the cashier are very slooooow, and the casino sw is eating up all the resources of the computer when I use the cashier. It could take a minute to exit the cashier.

That was one of the reasons why I stopped playing with the Rival sw.
