    Rival Releases a hot new slot!

    Hey everyone -

    I have just been playing the new 'Reel of Fortune' over at Davinci's Gold (that is the Rival I play at, but it is at all of them)

    It is a lot of fun so far!

    I really like the 'Plunko' game which basically mimicks the Plinko game from the popular Price is Right daytime game show. That is a bit of fun. When your Plunko chip gets stuck in the middle you even get to push it in one of 2 directions Pretty fun.

    The second game is a 'what is behind the curtain' game. As long as you don't pick the donkey - you get to keep playing and winning cash. That was fun too as I got to pick a few times before finally getting the Ass!

    Anyway - it seems to me that the game is medium variance. There are a bit of ups and downs, but they have come rather quickly for me. Example - I was down about $100 with auto play in about 10 minutes (at $2 / spin) and then I was up about 5 minutes later by $145. In that time I got 3 bonus rounds as well (2 Plunko, 1 Behind the curtain). The lowest amount I won on Plunko is $105 on a $5 bet (decided to try $5 when I was on a run).

    So - It is a fun new game, that's for sure... I like it a lot better than many of the new MGS games!

    Has anyone else played this one today? I am having a shit-ton of fun with it (which really surprises me since I never win anything with Rival slots).

    Here is my analysis after playing way too long

    The Theme
    I really like the theme of the slot - it is actually fully themed unlike a bunch of the MGS slots. There are unique symbols on every reel and the bonus games are very well thought out and themed. The sounds really aren't all that great win you hit a reel win.. more annoying than anything for me.

    The Play
    I really like getting the bonuses on this game and for some reason I always surge a little ahead each time I get them. Reel wins come a bit less frequent, though, as a result and I have noticed many times that the scatters cancel out wins that I otherwise would have had (not really atypical there, but since there are 2 types of scatters - it seems more frequent).

    Overall Summary

    I like the game a lot more than most at Rival. I really think this is their best invention yet. It DOES help, though, that I have won more than I have lost on this game thus far However, I think I would have liked the slot anyway.

    The reels DO spin quite slow at times (I think this is server connection issues more than anything else) and that gets somewhat annoying.

    Let me know what you think about this one - am I the only one that likes it a lot??

    Maintenance

    Hello everyone,

    Just to let you know we're updating the servers right now, should be back up shortly. This should improve the play speed.

    I'll let you know when we're back up!

    Cheers,

    Rob

    I'm sure it's a well-made game, but it's time for me to get up on a big old soapbox and make a speech:

    <Begin rant>
    Blatantly ripping off Plinko by changing one letter is just the sort of thing that will keep online casinos in the dark ages.

    It's the same as changing Let it Ride to Let them Ride to avoid infringing on patents and/or copyrights. The attitude of "who cares, what jurisdiction are you going to sue us in" won't cut it for me. Intentionally riding on the coattails of an established brand without permission is unethical even if the lawyers don't think there's any risk of penalty. The real penalty is the negative impression that it gives government bodies when they give consideration to banning or regulating online casinos.

    Every casino that does things properly is harmed by this. It's the same as the cheap stunts that Golden Palace is famous for pulling.

    I'm expressing my displeasure and I hope that anyone who feels the same way will chime in and show some support. Maybe the casinos will start to reject games that are obvious rip-offs if enough players are vocal about it.

    <Rant over>

    Scooter7. I would have to disagree with you due to the fact that it is done all the time in many other industries. I don't think a whole lot of people consider it poor taste or unethical anymore.

    That's just my opinion, though

    I can understand where you are coming from, I am just not sure if majority thinks this way.

    You're right about this sort of thing being commonplace in other businesses, but we're talking about an industry that is still in its infancy and has significant trust issues with its own customers.

    Take a look at complaints sections of the forum and see how many threads deal with questionable business practices. It's time for the major players to step up and loudly distance themselves from these types of situations.

    As a player, if I see company X avoiding paying license fees on a casino game, I wonder what other things they'll do to improve the bottom line. The players are the only other people that they can take advantage of for profit's sake.

    Am I being too hard-line? Do others agree or disagree with me? Comments welcome. The worst thing we can get out of this thread is a good discussion
