...at the Colos Saal in Aschaffenburg.

Wow - what a show! I saw him with Genesis during the Trick of the Tail Tour in 1976 (I think). It was great seeing him live again and noting that he hasn't missed a beat since, he's still an amazing guitarist.

His touring band was damn good too. Bassist Nick Beggs complemented the act with his impressive bass riffs and his Chapman Stick (Virtual Stick) performance.

Well, it was almost like being with him. I had a chance to catch Sheik Yerbouti - a German F. Zappa cover band at the Colos Saal here in Aschaffenburg.

What was amazing was that Napoleon Murphy Brock accompanied them - which gave them a truly authentic sound. I saw Zappa in '77 twice - once at Winterland in SF, and then again at the Stanford Auditorium at Stanford U. I was having some cool flash backs.

And they played all my favorite songs! Yay!

I'm in the middle of Julian Jaynes "The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind."

It's roughly a theory on how ancient man (up to about 5000 years ago) had brains split more or less in two. Their consciousness (right side) was an audible "voice" in their heads - as opposed to ours, which is a silent dialogue. Thus they were commanded by the voice of the "gods". And this is why most ancient beliefs/religions include the gods speaking and experiencing visions....
