    "snipping" posts

I am curious as to what constitutes inappropiate material.A member of this forum had started a suicide thread months ago, and I referred to that thread in another post that she had started on 3dice. The word "suicide" was "snipped" from my post by Max for the above reasons. So, the op can use that word and I can't?

Max, you are a fine Man and I think you do a great job, but I don't understand your reasoning on this.

Ya, I know, that whole thing was a bit of a cock-up.

My idea was that in spite of the fact that the OP had posted on the suicide topic it was not the sort of thing that people should be trotting out just to take shots at the OP. C'mon, we all have crap days, no need to have it hung around your neck and jeered at all the time.

In truth though, there were just too many folks using it, kicking it around like it was nothing for me to really do much about it. Maybe I had my head up my arse on that one to begin with, dunno. I thought the forum folks should raise the bar a little and leave that kind of stuff alone. I was just trying to give the OP a break on what must be a tough and painful subject.

I agree with Max! We all have bad days and say things that we really don't mean. Some people really ran with it...kinda like somebody standing on top of a skyscraper threatening to end it all while the crowd on the street yells "JUMP!"

It was a very good call on Max's part.
Suicide or like "Im going to Kill Myself"is a word to me that should not be put out for all to see.

Ooops, just realized that I may not have answered the original question.

Usually the *snip* should only be used to clip out truly offensive or inappropriate stuff, personal info that shouldn't have been posted, that sort of thing.

Obviously it _must_ be used very sparingly and only with clear and obvious justification, usually per a close reading of the Forum Rules.

As I've said, in the case cited above it was just a judgment call, strictly speaking I guess it would fail the "clear and obvious justification" criteria.

Since your question concerns me to some extent, I believe it is appropriate enough to answer It is true I was so upset with under-50%-payouts in 3Dice, back in August I posted, literally: "Alas... I do not know what I want to do more - to kill Enzo or to kill myself " (http://www.casinomeister.com/forums/...ulder-cry.html)

I honestly do not see why any reference to these words or thread on the whole might require "snipping". It is a public forum I am happy to be a member of, and since I posted this, it is there for everybody to see.

In case you might refer to a poll posted in June, then I am like totally confused. It is a poll, it is answered by those who were interested in poll's subject, and the poll's results did vary (If I remember right, there was 12% respondents who at some stage felt like committing suicide due to gambling problems).

Again, I do not see why reference to this poll might be deemed inapropriate. It was an earnest question asked and discussed - isn't it what forums are for?

P.S. Ironically, though it was just a general-interest poll, now it is somehow tied up with my 3Dice vows... Ironically, Enzo did contact me after the poll was out, and asked if by any chance my suicidal mood was caused by losses at his casino. I remember my answer (can dig up this PM, since you all appear to be so curious ) that though I am indeed upset with 3Dice then-recent payouts, 'suicide' was a figure of speech I was given nice comps then and since then... and wouldn't consider opting out.

P.P.S. How come all 3Dice threads get closed? At least, I hope I am safe - I did not start either this one or the previous one (here OP is wrong )

My heart goes out to Fleur-de-dis, I meant no disrespect towards you just concern on my part. Yes I do believe that you should not be gambling(just my opinion I am not an expert).I say that because if something takes over your life, be it drinking, drugs, gambling, then it is time to stop. I speak from experience from this.I now know that you were using a figure of speech, but the whole thread responded as if you were serious. Accept my apology if I upset you, but my opinion still stands.

Mercy you are relatively new to this forum, thus I feel you should be much more hesitant to jump to conclusions. If this is the conclusion you have.. then I think there are about 10,000 of us "gamblers" here at CM that "shouldn't be gambling".

I might be new, but I have been lurking for a long time, and have read most of her posts, and yes, the "S" poll, that was really not a poll, and also Casinomeister himself answered twice in that poll for her to stop gambling. Is he wrong too?
