    2007 WSOP Program Released

WORLD SERIES OF POKER 2007 SCHEDULE PUBLISHED

The world's largest and most spectacular poker championship kicks off June 1st this year

Some welcome tweaks to the 2006 World Series of Poker schedule were apparent when the official program for the 2007 event was released this week by Harrah's Entertainment, along with the anticipated wide selection of games in 55 major events over 7 weeks, and a useful range of buy-ins.

June 1st is the start of this year's extravaganza in Las Vegas, with the $5 000 Mixed Hold 'Em Limit and No Limit event sharing the spotlight with the Casino Employees competition.

Attracting most of the media attention with its incredible pay checks, large entry field and famous names is the Main Event, which takes place from July 6 and will have three Day Ones with the ability to accommodate 3 000 players each. Last year's event pulled in over 8 000 players and the impact of the UIEGA notwithstanding, this year will no doubt still attract a big entry.

The Amazon room at the Rio will have an extension which will bring the total number of tables to 300. Finish times for each day of play will be 2 AM with no extensions. Players will know, in advance, how long each session of each day for the entire stretch of all Series events and WSOP personnel will not alter that schedule once play begins.

Other highlights from the announcement include:

    There will be three HORSE Events $50 000, $5 000 and $2 500; along with a $1 000 SHOE event on July 1st.

    A new mixed game, $2 500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo 8 or better.

The $10 000 World Championship Pot Limit Omaha is back for a second year.
As is the $1 000 Triple Draw Lowball w/rebuys.

Seven Card Stud is back with more events including one Seven Stud High event and
two Seven Stud Hi/Lo and the mixed Omaha/Stud event.

There will be a new Limit Hold'em Shootout and a $1 500 Seven Card Razz tournament.

The complete WSOP schedule as announced looks like this:
