They bowled me that particular curve ball on a withdrawal I made from my last deposit. They relented after I sent them all my other documents again, and told them I would make the photo shortly and send it - next day I got an email telling me that as a long time player, I no longer needed to send the photo.

Seems the old owners didn't transfer the player verification documents over, so they are having to verify all players from scratch.

Although this has come up before, I have NEVER been asked this, probably because there is nothing "odd" about my circumstances, and I have all the standard documents (Driving licence, utility bill, card images), am on the electoral register, and am checkable through the credit reference agencies as I have a long credit history (mortgage, cards, loans).

We have been told this is only requested "in exceptional circumstances", yet there are more and more reports of it becoming more or less "routine", and now it has happened to me, I believe it IS now becoming a matter of routine at some casinos, or maybe routine for certain countries at least.

The problem is that the industry is in denial, and still want to pretend this is only asked for in exceptional circumstances, so a player faced with such a request tends to worry about getting paid, if not this time, the next.

I have found that making this photo is far harder than I thought, and my attempts didn't even pass MY standards, so would have no chance passing those of a casino.

What they want in this photo is a clear view of your face, alongside a clear and LEGIBLE view of the document, so that they can check that the document in the photo is the same one supplied as an image, and that the photo on the document matches the face - this is actually how such documents were DESIGNED to be used to prove ID, with the receiver comparing the photo with the face of the presenter to ensure that not only was the document legit, but belonged to the person presenting it.
