Happens all the time, especially if you've already run the software (or another MG site) already and closed it.
Just reboot. |

Well THREE HOURS LATER, and STILL UNAVAILABLE ![]() I had NOT run & closed any MGS casino. This was straight from a fresh "reboot", as I turned the computer on and went to 32Red for the tournaments as the first thing I did. There is CLEARLY an issue with how the Viper client connects to the tournament server, it is a long standing problem, and suggesting we reboot, wait 10 minutes, or whatever, is like the old habit of "slapping the TV set because it doesn't work". It MAY provide a temporary fix, but the underlying problem REMAINS. In the case of the TV set, it is usually a "dry joint" or other type of problem, and until it is repaired, the problem, although intermittent, will recur unpredictably. MGS need to "repair the joint", or rather the part of Viper that handles communication with the tournament server, so that we no longer have to "slap the set" whenever we cannot get a "picture". It is odd that this problem NEVER stops connection to the GAMES, and ONLY affects the tournaments. This clearly proves it is nothing MY end that is impeding my ability to make a connection out to the internet when the tournaments are unavailable. If it were, I would be unable to connect to the GAMES, as well as the tournaments, and the Viper client would not even connect to the casino. Yesterday, I was unable to purchase a "continue", it was offered, but when I selected the option it just greyed out the button, and then just sat there. I COULD and DID play the GAMES though, unhindered. I waited an hour, and managed to get back in. TWO of the THREE warm up tournaments tonight have been unavailable, and the THIRD is due to start in just over half an hour. Given they have been unavailable for more than three hours, it looks like it will be for the whole evening ![]() I am going back to watch the Telly (without needing to slap the set I must add).

Understanding Rebuys and Continues
Thanks 32Red for the Warmup tournaments.
One tourney today I achieved an okay score. I played another rebuy after that, and then decided I would continue. I was surprised to find myself continuing from the last score, and not the 11th place I was sitting in, but I figured this to be a five euro lesson instead of a twenty euro one. After that however, I was unable to play the remaining rebuy. Does this mean that we only get 3 continues for the whole Grandslam? And once we have used our continues, no rebuys are available to us? If we do, that's just fine by me, I just want to understand how to play to optimal advantage. |

I FINALLY got in, and was able to play the last of the 3 warm up tournaments. I had a good start the second time, and played the three continues to end (currently) in second place. I WAS also able to play ANOTHER rebuy, and another, until it was indicated there were none left. Playing "continues" should NOT prohibit the use of further rebuys. Optimum advantage would be to use the first round to get a good starting score, no point wasting money on "continues" from a bad start. From a GOOD start, play a continue, maybe all three to set a benchmark score. From then on, you are trying to beat your best score, since this is all that counts. The best way is to use further rebuys to try to beat your benchmark first round starting score. If you do, try a continue, and see if you are still further ahead than your benchmark - if you have a bad continue, perhaps go back and rebuy for another good start. Overall, look at what you are spending, all these rebuys and continues add up to costing money, your ticket ONLY covers ONE ROUND, the first. Don't forget any free rebuys won in the 32Red warm up tournaments, especially if you have a seat at more than one casino. Keep an eye on the scoreboard, in case there is a "knockout" score, such as would be gained from 5 wilds, or even 5 wilds in free spins. This might mean that realistically, you are playing for second place, or even third.

About the rebuy not working afterwards, keep in mind that you get an hour of playtime, so when the tourney has less than an hour to go, the rebuy will grey out. Continue is no longer possible when the tourney has less than half an hour to go. |
