I've not even done 40 yet. I find it so RARE to escape the tight envelope of low variance that I don't believe it is possible to buy your way to the top simply by using all your 999 rebuys. The hits needed to beat that top score are just so RARE, and are hits I have NEVER had in all the years I have played, so WHY should I expect to get them just by spending out on 999 rebuys. 5 scatters OUTSIDE of free spins are not enough, you would need this TWICE in one round to get near the top score, OR get them in free spins. The game gives 10 free spins, and this means getting a big hit in free spins is less likely than getting a similar hit on Thunderstruck, with it's 15 free spins.
I have only ever had 5 scatters IN free spins ONCE on a Thunderstruck clone, and I must have played a MILLION or more spins on these by now.

It may make more sense to target one of the �1000 special places

VWM, what are you aiming for to Continue past Stage 1 (if you don't mind me asking, ofc)? I'm thinking around 16k atm but I suspect that's too low...

I don't honestly think it matters.

Either start again or take the continues - without a crazy super hit (in either scenario) - you aint got a chance. Similarly if you get a great first round, you might hit nothing on the continues or vice versa. Broad as it's long...

Treat each 'go' individually and cross your fingers for the biggie!

It also depends on what you are aiming for.
I'd say 40.000 in the first round at least for a top-10 place, but as Slotster said, you need a monsterhit to beat the topscore, even 5 wilds (37.500) won't guarantee anything right now.
5 scatters in free spins is the only possible hit that will beat the highscore now, and it doesn't really matter if you hit that in the first round or continue.

And Rick H, would he have any nerves left?

I opted to do the continues and only doubled my score to 28k..I was at position 479 but I'm down to 490ish. I should have done what I originally had planned to do as it doesn't take but one good hit to get in the top 25 and get a decent payout. I'll probably take another shot at it tomorrow. I left money in from my wins last night. I can't see playing your own money at this point.

Bit more in the end but yes - I thought so too! With over 400 Rebuys (not including Continues), at least a score above 41k...not to be.

I had a shot at winning it (4 Scatters in Free Spins, that's the only whiff really - oh at one point I had 32k with 2 Continues left and finished with 36k which was

I can't see how there would be a point in not using up all your Continues unless you held 1st place. Once overtaken, there's no point saving them till the end. If you do, you can't continue to spin to try and beat yourself / opponent.

Only point I can see is if you have a result definitely reachable with one continue. Let�s say you are missing 2000 to reach top spot. Only then you could hold of playing and not overtaking top position not to encourage current top player to attack your score.

But in these circumstances there is no point at all.
First of all, as I can see, all of top players (even the 1st one) rebuying massivelly.
Second point, I would be soooo scarred something will go wrong (from reasonable expected lag and disconecting from MG servers to sudden thunderstone which would fry my PC) in last few hours and wouldn't risk not playing my countinue.
